Should he be? Nope. Now I might if the right deal came along featuring a real hockey player like Nathan Horton, but I doubt Florida would trade him especially for a Euro.
-
Why can't I vote for Hasek.
-
You're missing the point. The QB in football is wearing the same equipment as the other players that would hit him. A hockey goalie just doesn't have the movement to be able to protect himself like the other players.
-
Umm people that want goalies to be fair game need to understand why goalies aren't allowed to be hit. The goaltending equipment does not allow them the movement that regular players have and that impacts their ability to protect themselves by avoiding contact. Now if you just want to stop goalies from playing the puck then just say it. But letting them get hit would be a major mistake.

Did Bettman Say His Officials Actually Make Mistakes!
Carman replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Bettman can't say much more then that, he realizes how horribly the game was officiated. Brad Watson has been a train wreck for long enough, he needs to go away. -
Lilja is awesome. Until we lose 4 games I have faith. San Jose isn't a team known for finishing off playoff series when they are ahead.
-
Ok, apparently my sarcasm goes unnoticed. Do you really think I believe Crosby is the greatest player ever, and that goal was the best goal in history Look I guess my sense of humor just doesn't translate well onto this board as it does other boards. I just didn't think anyone would actually take anything in this thread literally, especially when I used adjectives like "best ever", and "most clutch goal in history of hockey".
-
How on earth do you consider a bad bounce on a 3 on 1 with Thornton/Heatley/Marleau a "bad" goal. I have no clue how you talk yourself into believe such foolishness.
-
Penguins did it last year.
-
That's a reach. Comparing a short tournament with the caliber of players in the Olympics to the regular season is a fair comparison to you? Crosby has 79 points in 57 career playoff games yet you try to compare him to Alexander god damn Semin. This is exactly what I mean about the irrational Crosby hate. Don't like him because he actually cares about winning and losing? Cool, I'm not going to say you have to love the kid and start cheering for him. But to try and compare him to Alex Semin and say he's invisible in playoffs? Not cool and yes I'm going to defend him because it's ridiculous.
-
Okay, I'm clearly being sarcastic when I say he "carried" them. But how is being tied for fourth in the entire tournament in points and tied for second the tournament in goals "invisible"?
-
WHERE IS BLUEADAMS??? Babcock needs his insight.
-
Considering he is the most talented player ever, yes. And he scored it on the best goalie to ever play in the Olympics. He single handedly carried Canada on his back and won a gold medal.
-
Yeah, Bertuzzi has played well. It's too bad he gets rep calls(besides the cross check that was legit). He has a bad back that's why you don't see him crash and bang like it's '03.

PUT LILJA IN NET. INTIMIDATE THE PUCK.

Crosby had more goals then Ovechkin. Crosby > Ovechkin. You can't argue facts Drake. Not to mention Ovechkin uses steroids and cocaine and is going to the KHL soon after he realizes he has to be tough to succeed in the NHL playoffs. Crosby scored the most important and clutch goal in hockey history, Ovechkin almost ends careers on cheap shot checking from behind penalties. Like I said, it's no contest for me personally, but it's just my opinion not like anyone can prove anything they are both great players that play two completely different style games.
-
No eva just no. A 3 on 1 is never a goalies fault. He made the first save, get over your Howard hate. He made well over 40 saves, and was a very key person on the penalty kill tonight. The reason we lost is faceoffs and not being able to shift the momentum after the penalty kills. You know nothing about goaltending, and are actually quite embarrassing to share the same board with.
-
Agreed, reffing was bad both ways. San Jose beat us. Refs are never an excuse, good teams make their luck. Still a long way to go, especially for an inexperienced team in San Jose. This series can drastically change in one period, and I'm not worried until the Wings lose at home. These games have been close, and although your rational may be correct, you have to understand this is a Wing's board, and if the roles were reversed you would be seeing the exact same things said on a San Jose board if the penalties were as lopsided as they are.
-
Not going to panic yet. Close one goal games on their home ice, San Jose capitalized on their opportunities, and the Wings didn't get as many chances. We have some must win games at home though, but this series can change drastically.
-
Keep your spirits up. Plenty of time left.
-
I just remember seeing him try to hit someone in the corner in his first shift. He ended up on the ice, but atleast he broke up the play haha.
-
Ericsson and Lilja have had a strong 2 periods. And dare I say Williams has not been brutal.
-
I'll take a unbelievable two way center, proven winner and ability to make a clutch play(Crosby) over a crying, one dimensional, and bad penalty taking Euro(Ovechkin) anyday.
-
This is a good sign. Hopefully this allows the league to hire better commentators and refs...
-
Nope pretty sure Crosby is the best player currently in the game. This is fact I'm an expert. Also there isn't enough coverage on him, the NHL is really missing the boat if they don't promote Crosby more...
