How can Datsyuk's play be injury related yet Hossa's isn't? There was a severe decline after a hit in the Anaheim series where Hossa really seemed to struggle on his shot. And if you are give Datsyuk a little leniency for past playoffs then why not give Hossa the same? Considering he put up better numbers and everything?

Wait I'm the troll? Yet directly in the post you quoted were references of male genitally and absolutely zero reference to any statistic or respected observational value outside of "Hossa looked like s***"? Sorry but please actually contribute something to the discussion, I'd love to hear someone actually knowledgeably articulate how they can actually believe that last playoffs, "Hossa was s***", and "Datsyuk looked like the best player on ice".

Hossa played on the PK as well. I could just as easily say get over your hard on over a 6 million dollar player getting 1 goal in 16 games. The difference is I understand that injuries are going to effect the performance. I don't see why it's so difficult to understand that players don't play well when they are playing with an injury compared to being healthy.

That's it. You are a completely oblivious homer. There is no way to logically convey anything coherent to you anymore.
-
Do you hold Datsyuk to this same standard? It's called injuries. They happen in hockey. You aren't a playoff choker when you score 76 points in 98 games.
-
Hossa did skate well, but he had zero velocity on his shot. He got hit towards the end of the Anaheim series and didn't look the same after it. To say an NHL player doesn't have heart just makes you lose all credibility, especially when the said player has lead several teams to deep playoff runs and is a perennial 40 goal scorer. Hockey is a team game, there was plenty of blame to go around.

You said nothing about him facing an injury that would directly interfere with his ability to shot the puck.

Hossa was about the only Penguin to show up in '08. He was 3rd overall in points. in the 09' finals He was injured. How hard is that to comprehend? Datsyuk has taken whole playoffs off yet Hossa struggles through an injury that required him to miss the start of the next season? Without Hossa last year who knows if the Wings would have even gotten past the Quarterfinals.

Along with just about everyone else. And he actually had an injury that required surgery...

Hossa. 97 games, 31 goals and 45 assists for 76 points. Datsyuk 98 games, 22 goals, and 41 assists for 63 points. Zetterberg 85 games, 39 goals, and 37 assists for 76 points. You can call Hossa a cup chaser, but he certainly isn't a playoff choker. Unless you want to expand what a playoff choker really is...

True, but Stuart is more valuable on the PK than Ericsson. Can't have Stuart play Lidstrom type minutes and remain as physically effective.
-
Williams needs to be sat for Abby. Ericsson needs to get on the point for the 2nd PP, hell that's probably what Ericsson's most useful role would be anyways. He has a great shot and decent offensive instincts.

I was beginning to think no one would catch on That said, Hossa was playing with a pretty serious injury that caused him to miss the start of the regular season. A rotator cuff injury for a sniper is a very tough injury. Hossa played great defensively, but just couldn't finish. I understand the Red Wing fans like to just take the easy way out, but Hossa wasn't the main reason for the lack of production, not to mention Hossa actually carried the team through the first couple round and all of the regular season. It's kind of surprising seeing all the Hossa hate, yet most of the same people don't feel the same way about Hudler who left the freaking NHL and grew up through the team...

Hossa was the best Winger to ever wear a Red Wing sweater. It was a pleasure to have an actually great player on our team for once.
-
Not going to happen.
-
If anyone gets mad over that they need some help. Agreed, I'm seeing exactly the same thing. It really sucks because I really think he can so much better...
-
People are disappointed more than anything. He had high, and probably unfair expectations and he completely bombed. Fans want their teams players to do well, and when they don't they bash them. That's sports, for better or for worse.
-
Yep, phantom reputation calls. No wonder he is as soft as a tissue...
-
Still 500x the goaltender Osgood ever was.

Lilja!

We'll be good. Lebda will develop into a Norris contender through Brad Mcrimmon's great coaching.

What? I thought I'm supposed to hate everything that's not directly involving the Red Wings organization?

Leino is locker room cancer. He's an awful human being and is just lazy Eurotrash. He is only getting points in Philly because he is playing with great North American players. Leino was the sole reason for the Red Wing's struggles and it's not a coincidence that he's never actively played on a team playing well(Red Wings started winning without him, and Philly started losing). He's a horrible influence and contributes nothing but a warm body that gets body checked by the opposing team. He is everything that is wrong with the NHL, he is slow, soft, unmotivated and unintelligent. I'm just glad the Wings got the only good Finnish player ever in Flippula, hopefully he's the last player that wears the Winged wheel from that useless country.

I like Bertuzzi, and I loved getting him this year. But I really wouldn't want him back, he's too inconsistent and too unreliable. He's been unusually lucky injury-wise(Knock on wood) this year, and doesn't have much left in the tank. If we can get him at the same rate I'll be up for it, but most likely he'll get a raise and I'm not up for that.
