according to capgeek if the hawks make that trade they would have 15 mil in cap space by losing huet and campbell off their team but would add 16 million in acquiring nabby, marleau and kaberle . so iirc you can't make a trade that puts you over the cap. plus in that scenario they would still need to add 2 more defencemen which would be impossible to sign if you are already over the cap. all in all this just shows me how much dave tallon f***ed over his team lol

I think your calculations include Abby's 850k so if we signed hudler to say 2.5 million a year along with your above Leino salary of 850k we would just send Abby down and things would be okay. When I imput that scenario we have 2000 dollars left in cap space. Holland has already said that we are going to trade a defencemen so when that happens we will be able to sign a 4th line player like Downey who makes 500k.

as much as I love Kenny Holland he has to be called out for not trading Hossa's rights. It was clear and evident to me that Hossa would not resign and it should have been clear to Kenny also.

i ran the hawks numbers a minute ago and right now they are around 7 million under the cap with 2 more forwards to sign. if Hossa is one i would imgaine it would be around 6 million a year leaving them around a million or so. Problem is that Keith is a UFA next year and Toews and Kane are RFA's next year. I'll hate Hossa if he goes there but it will screw the hawks so bad. My hope is that offer sheets they can't match on Kane and Towes and Keith leaves via free agency. that would be unreal lol

Jay for me is the best 25 and under defencemen in the world. We need a future Nick and he may not be even close to that but he is a closer then any one else on our current team. Any team with Jay in their top pairing for the next 10 years will be very happy.

Our guys are dead physically and mentally. 4 games in 6 nights is a fact and it is showing its ugly head tonight. Our guys have played hard and deserve a tonne of credit for playing this well considering the circumstances.
