Yeah, Hawks have a much better chance of ousting the Canucks first round than the Stars do, and even if they can't they'll wear out the Canucks alot more.

No goals allowed (aside from the shootout) in his past 3, I like what I'm seeing from JMac

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU It's now like 20x easier to be a Wings fan in Leaf nation now

I'm in the exact same situation as you next Saturday, and the Wings have let me down three years straight against the Leafs. GO WINGS!

McCollum is looking great this game. -
So...I heard somewhere they might do starting line-ups tomorrow's game. Is this true? I'm gonna be there, anyone else coming?

Wings lines & pairings for preseason opener released
anthonyn66 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Man our forward lines don't even look bad without ZDH...this pre-season team looks good enough to fight for a playoff spot in the east... we've got so much depth its unbelievable... speaking of pre-season I'm going to the Wings game at the ACC, October 2. -
A huge reason why his productivity went down and why people are saying he's "washed up" is because he played on a terrible Dallas Stars team on the third line with Barch and Peterson, not exactly the best line. Here, he's playing with Cleary and Hudler and they are much better than who he played with there. Not to mention, coaching differences. Babcock makes Crawford look like a b*tch, and when Tippet coached him he was so much better.

Think about it, this was Leino's first year in the NHL. He definitely showed flashes of brilliance before, and Babs even said he was the best player he ever sent down. Leino, in Detroit, felt that a roster spot would be a given so he was "lazy and sucked", but in Philly, he needed to work super hard due to the number of forwards on the team, and he certainly did, and the system there worked for him. Leino was willing to try a new system, and it worked because he wasn't too used to our system as of yet. Lebda has consistently played in the NHL as a bottom-6 defenceman for 4 years now and obviously doesn't have a whole lot more potential, like Leino did have, playing the same hockey for 4 years in the same position at the same level of the depth chart and being unable to impress the coaches enough to put him on a higher line. As an experienced NHL-er, he will probably make the same mistakes as before. And with the defensive depth they have in Toronto, he probably will, again, be the number 5-6 defenceman in Toronto.

I also hope they draft a solid shut down defenseman who can move the puck as well. They have a lot of defensive defensemen and forwards who can score, but I think they need to add size too. On second thought, if Lidstrom retires, they really should trade this pick with another player for a high-end defenseman.

Anyone here not like the horns and sounds at the Shark Tank? Some are ok (the Jaws music before a PP is intimidating as hell) but I really hate all the modern synthesizer stuff they have before faceoffs, etc... maybe that's cuz I like the old organ-retro hockey sounds better. Thoughts?

He tore it up in the Wings series and played far better than Crosby, Malkin.

we're just dead tired. thank God there's a 3 day break before the next game. Detroit is playing alright and I have a feeling they will catch up the way they're playing. 3 goal leads aren't impossible to erase.

I'm tired of this bulls*** about the Sharks. I'm tired of hearing these myths about them. Myth 1: San Jose have made it past the first round therefore they have their playoff s*** together The San Jose Sharks can't lose all their first round matches, especially not against the Avalanche! The Avs were very inexperienced and didn't have Peter Mueller in the lineup. Craig Anderson was the person keeping the Avs alive. Yet they still went to 6 games with them, and had three overtime games against them! To have to squeak past an inexperienced and injured team doesn't mean you have your s*** together. Myth 2: Nabokov is playing very solid Nabokov has faced an average of about 25 shots a game, and has saved an average of 23 a game. He hasn't really stolen a game, and when the Sharks won, it was because they absolutely manhandled the Avs. He really didn't need to be that great, except for maybe game 4, and really, he wasn't that great. I'm tired of hearing "1.76 GAA". He hasn't faced a whole lot of quality shots. Howard, on the other hand, has faced an average of about 31.5 shots a game, and has stopped an average of 29 shots a game. The Phoenix Coyotes are a much better team offensively than the Colorado Avalanche, and while Howard was sloppy in some games, he made crucial saves when needed (third period, game 5). While everyone is saying Nabokov is truly the better goalie and San Jose has the edge there, they are clearly overlooking these stats and the fact that they faced the Avalanche. And this is to top things off: Regular season San Jose > Playoff San Jose Playoff Detroit > Regular season Detroit Regular season Detroit > Regular season San Jose therefore, Playoff Detroit > Playoff San Jose

ok honestly, Bryzgalov needs to learn to let one in...
-
Well we all saw that happen last year :\ Lets Go Wings, bounce back for Game 7!!!
-
I am actually very curious about the Wings' record for 2-3 o'clock games on NBC. They never seem to win those games.
-
Have you noticed that every underdog in the Westhas taken a 2-1 lead in the series, only for the series to be turned around to be 3-2? With the exception of the Van-La series, where Vancouver won first, each series played out like this: Game 1: Underdog Game 2: "better" team Game 3: Underdog Game 4: "better" team Game 5: "better" team Pretty strange I'd say.
-
My point isn't that there is a conspiracy, or that one team is clearly worse than the other. Its that all four series follow almost exact same pattern when it comes to who wins what games, which I just find a little strange.

Yeah I'm taking the Preds too. Detroit wouldn't even be considered an upset. Habs suck. Ottawa is good but not good enough to beat Pittsburgh. Boston and Buffalo may be close but Buffalo has the edge. One may argue Rask is amazing but Miller is better IMO. Philly and New Jersey will be close too, but New Jersey has the edge in goal. San Jose will choke eventually, but it'll be against a playoff performer like Detroit, or a good team like the Preds. Colorado isn't good enough in the playoffs, and they weren't even good enough in the regular season... they just had a fantastic start. LA-Vancouver will be a close one, its too tough to call. Preds have better goaltending, better defense, but their offense doesn't compare. However, I think they can do it.
