Bettman's minions strike again!
-
The Wings just can't catch a break this season. There must be a supernatural reason for the crap luck they're having.
-
Yah. Kinda would want Satan, but he's charging 3.5 Mil and i think that would put us over the cap. Peca is alright and is at a relatively better 1.6 Mil price tag. I think we should sign Hudler back

I laughed :beerbuddy:

Zetterberg is happy to sign things. Most NHL players are. In fact Dats goes out of his way to do so if he sees a lot of young fans waiting for him. I got this autograph at a signing two weeks ago and there is another one at the Joe sometime in November (Nov. 6?).

I have the rare opportunity to personally meet the entire team this weekend at Olympia and can bring something to be autographed. (Beside an blank wings jersey) What are some cool ideas?
-
The truth is I do have some questions i want to ask, but i posted asking for questions to generate some more ideas and to see if there is anything people on the forum want answered that the media hasn't commented on yet. In other words, I want to try to get some of letsgowings.com's questions answered.

Yah, that's what I keep telling myself, but it seems like such a hard thing to do if i get star-struck. Haha I was thinking along those lines. It seems to me that asking them or commenting on they're abilities is superfluous because they are professionals and they have professional trainers and coaches to do that already.
-
How about question ideas? What should I ask the players when i'm there?
-
And not to mentions the amount of repeats (3 yzerman sweaters, 2 hull sweaters). And 14/30 are replica sweaters. I think that while this is a very impressive collection, I do think he could make more money selling each set separately (or at least get more bids selling each set separately)

So I'm playing my first fantasy game and did a mock draft (auction style). Is this a decent draft? I know there are quite a bit of DET players, but w/e. Also keep in mind that one guy was just screwing with the draft towards the end so no one could get some players (like Lidstrom for 35mil, Ovechkin for 77mil). Btw, i picked some rookies, because they've done well in the ahl, and they tend to try really hard so they won't go back.

Well first of all never wear it again. Put it behind glass and invest in another jersey. I know some people like to show off their signed things, but whenever I see someone with a signed jersey I only think "wow, that was a mistake". Simply wearing the jersey will wear down the ink. Anyway, to solve you problem hand wash the stained areas with warm water and soup (maybe some bleach if it's an away jersey or detergent) while avoiding any signed areas. Putting it through the wash in any way will compromise even permanent ink. If it smells just frebreez that sucker. But after you do wash it please consider a case and a new un-signed jersey.

HAHAHA!!! Yah know I was thinking about the same thing. I've always had a problem watching Basketball (pre last five minutes, and not college ball) it's just seems kinda boring compared to hockey. Especially since LeBron = Crosby in a lot of ways (Lots of points, leader of a team, poor sportsmanship/full of himself, only player on the team, the commissioners poster child....)

IIHF refuses to grant transfer card to Jiri Hudler

New Article on the Subject: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...ex.html?eref=T1 ------------- Edit: Just wanted to add that I complete agree with LeftWinger -
Selke I think differently on both comments actually, well mostly the latter i guess. Goal tending for the wings has always just been passible, it's our offensive ability and fantastic defenseman who do most of the work. I think while Osgood is pretty terrible goalie during the regular season, however, he is, and has been recognized as, one of THE most level-headed playoff goalies of all-time. Conklin was definitely the star in the regular season, but I don't think the wings would have made it past Anaheim without Ozzie. (See Conklin in the Edmonton Oilers playoff game 2006) See comment above and he was great in the 1998 playoffs (but yah, there was a reason he kept being traded, and I think it was a mistake to let Conklin get away) -------------------- Edit: Just as an FYI, there was much talk that had the wings won, and had Osgood been the Smythe Trophy winner, he would have been considered a Hall-Of Fame candidate; after all (had this happened) his resume would have looked like this: -4 Rings -1 Smythe -2 Jennings -3 NHL All-Star games -----2 games played (started in 1) -10th in career wins (currently and he is still playing) -Led NHL GAA in 2008 -Led NHL Wins in 1996 -Has Scored a goal Of Course even without the 1 ring and Smythe, it still looks pretty good, but probably not Hall-Of-Fame good (but close)

That's good enough for me (Ah childhood memories)
-
81 - Players you could pay for and still not hit his contract cost
-
81 - The number of times Hossa will sell out to another team 24 - More years until Chelios decides it time to retire 5 - More center ice goals before the end of his career 43 - mph faster than the average skater 93 - More game winners for the Mule 13 - Dekes before he shoots (and scores)
-
I think that's really generous to rank Pittsburgh 3rd, it should be at the very most 4th or 5th. Although they won the cup (which is also a factor working against them), people forget they tied for 4th place in the regular season. And the reason they tied for fourth is the fact that they really don't have any depth. i know this was argued during the finals too, but it really is true; look at the stats: Malkin - 113 pts Crosby - 103 pts (And the next best player) Staal - 49 pts The wings have 8 players above the 50 pt mark and three are defenseman! I know 113 and 103 are very high (especially since our best player hit 97), but clearly they are only 2 man team. (A two man team that won, but lest we forget they were fighting a team who was half injured)

Chills btw McCarty may not be retiring form hockey after-all http://www.detnews.com/article/20090826/SP...0349/1128/rss16

I Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to think out and post this message (no sarcasm). This really explains exactly WHY you don't like McCarty. (The biggest reason people hated your previous posts about him). FYI - I still really like McCarty, but now that you've posted this I have no grudge with you anymore :beerbuddy:

So I'm definitely getting a new hockey sweater, custom from online, and was debating who I wanted on the back (yes it's another one of those threads). Although I know I want to do some different; I want to put a nickname on the back. Here's who I have so far. Which ones do you like? Have any more ideas? (10 character max) "Avenger" or "Enforcer" - 25 "Mule" - 93 "Wizard" - 30 "Dominator" - 39 "Flash" - 43 "Captain" or "Legend" - 19 "Homer" - 96 "Hank" - 40 "Fats" - 10 "Mr Hockey" - 9 (Although spaces look terrible)

FTW :beerbuddy:

Ah, man. That's the tip of the iceberg. I've never seen someone with so much dislike towards McCarty. Check out the thread "Nickname Sweater" he can't be reasoned with; he simply doesn't acknowledge D-Mac's accomplishments.
