Apologies on the topic title....it should really read "the bad call WILL BE good for us" Of course the bad call is not good right now...we'd be potentially leading the series! But the point is... at least there is a smidgen of positive to come out of this whole piece of crapola.
-
I know we're all still emotional about that call, and I'm sure the topic title will piss some off, but once it settles consider this: The bad call will light a fire under the Wings. oh THEY WILL BE PISSED. Game 4 should see them coming out with mysterious red eyes and visible smoke coming out the nostrils. Even if we lost without the bad call, the intensity they'd produce would be immense, but consider the extra incentive now.... The other good thing about the shoddy call is that if we do eventually lose the series, we have a decent excuse The call is done. Move on. Game 4....get it done.

I doubt it'd work. As much as I love Ovie, it's plain to see that he has an ego. The Wings will never tolerate big egos in the locker room.

You know, I actually feel really sorry for Sharks fans. They must be so pissed about now, and who can blame them? You know that a team is a choker when their own fans will happily admit it whilst ripping season tickets up and lighting them on fire. If you were up the top of the SJS hierarchy, what do you do now? Do you press on and persist with the talent that you have hoping they'll finally get it done, or is it time to change? I'd hate to be the guy making that decision. You've got a top notch group of players - on paper and skills-wise the best in the business along with the Wings and Pens. Yet they've tried everything, and this year's coaching and personnel additions, which were supposed to tip them over the edge, produced nothing. If it is indeed time for change, how on earth do you conjur the testicular fortitude to start dumping the likes of Thornton, Marleau, Nabokov, Boyle and co... Imagine if we kept exiting in the first and second rounds year after year, and started questioning the necessity of having Datysuk, Zetterberg, Hudler etc. Personally, I think they have to change. Perhaps not such a drastic fire sale of all their key players, but something's gotta change... it's one thing to fail for one or two years. But to keep on doing it for several seasons??! Man, that's painful. There's obviously something intangibly missing from that roster which is failing them, and if they haven't gotten it by now they never will. One step back, two steps forward I say. Anyway, was just thinking about it before and was wondering what others thought.

Without Ovie, hockey's image rests on the shoulders of one Sidney Crosby. Enough said.

agreed, but I don't think that should've been an interference decision, but rather a roughing call... double-minors given out for roughing? I must admit my knowledge is a bit shady on this one.
-
Nothing wrong with the hit itself. Certainly wasn't Pronger-esque. It WAS a tad bit late though, but we're talking microseconds. All in all, a double-minor and not a major penalty. I can see why the Ducks fans are pissed about it ... but you can't deny the fact that at least a minor penalty should've been called, auto to double-minor for the reduction of Hudler's red blood cell count, and the PP goal would therefore still stand. Brown doesn't deserve a suspension. As for Franzen, I must admit at the time I thought he could've done a better job at avoiding Hiller. Not that it mattered, because the goal was scored a split second beforehand and he didn't interfere. But then after seeing the scrum on Ozzy by the Ducks towards the end of the game I didn't feel so guilty. Oh and speaking of that scrum near the end I had NO idea you could fit 11 players in the crease... I learnt something today

Can we sign him for a measly $2mil a year and promise him free Arby's the rest of his life?
-
Carlyle's posturing only proves that he thinks he has the inferior team... "Sorry boys, you're not as good as them Red Wings, so I'll see if I can help you out by influencing the refs" Yeah, great msg to send to your team
-
That's what separates the men from the boys... age may deteriorate some of your speed and skills, but you can still make it happen when it's needed. Clutch. Nice one Feds. Now hopefully Carolina beats NJ so Washington plays the Pens, and you can produce the goods against Bettman's brigade.
-
Oh dear god please make it so
-
The ice will have Lidstrom, Rafalski, Niedermeyer and Pronger ... sucks to be a forward out there
-
my only prediction (because let's face it, being a wings fan of course I'll say wings will win): the winner of this series will take home Stanley

Maybe Draper and Maltby retire, and Sammy leaves through FA. Somehow I don't see retaining BOTH Hossa and Hudler. To fill in the blanks you're looking at Leino, Helm perhaps Abdelkader. I know the topic's been done to death but seeing Fedorov back in red and white would be an awesome thing. For one, it'd be nice to clear the air with him (c'mon, can you honestly say we win 3 cups without him), and plus he still has plenty to offer as a role player for perhaps another year or two. I don't know what his contract situation is with Washington but dammit bring him back! Oh, and his jersey won't be retired if he doesn't come back. HOF though? Hell, yes.
-
Keep Helm, but Draper needs to come back. One word: Faceoffs

To start off with, yes Crosby dives like an olympic springboard champion and whines like a 3 year old ADHD kid drinking red cordial.... But anyone who says you wouldn't take him for reasons other than the salary cap are NUTS! Let's face it, he's a star. Like it or not, the kid can play.... and I stress the word kid. I'm pretty sure he still wears nappies...which means he has huge mileage yet to come. Having said that, he's only the 4th best player out there. 1) Pasha 2) Ovie 3) Malkin. Actually come to think of it, that's your first line for Team Russia come next Olympics.....YIKES!
-
Pasha deserves the award. But in my eyes, the true winner is Sean Avery

ey guys and gals... i'm a physical therapist/physiotherapist (depending on which part of the world you come from). If it's an acute major tear of the groin you're looking at about 3 weeks BUT if it was an acute tear I'd hardly doubt he'd have played on with the 3rd period. I didn't see the game so I can't really comment, but from what I gather he did look sluggish? Most likely, the groin was cramping and tightening up .... not really a problem in that there's no actual damage of the tissue... he'll be fine with rest and proper treatment. You're looking at a whole load of some guy massaging his special area, and stretches. If there was a very minor tear then yeh as mentioned before, cortisone injections are likely to try and get him through the next few weeks. The only danger was that by playing that 3rd period with a cramped and tight groin he would've opened himself up to a high risk of totally straining/tearing it again...THEN it's goodbye Ozzy, hello Conks The long and short of it is: DON'T WORRY...hopefully
