Had a great time on Saturday night! Anyone else go? It was great to see the boys on the ice.....made me miss hockey like crazy!

No...thats a terrible arguement and completely erroneous. What one player did in one series for ANOTHER team is irrelevant to what a player on THIS team in this series. We assume he was benched..... but he could have had an injury or a hundred other things. Do you really believe if Helm or Eaves were healthy, Emmerton sees icetime? LOL Arguing with someone like you is pointless because AGAIN ( pushing the echo button) We, the fans have no idea why tootoo wasnt on the ice and its like comparing appes and banana. Tootoo is a BETTER player than Emmerton, every single day Nuff said

Lol....you say you like Emmerton but Tootoo is a scrub? We will see, five games in when Tootoo absolutely demolishes someone like Thornton or Perry when they go after Datsyuk. No one....I mean NO ONE thinks Emmerton is a more valuable piece on this team that Tootoo. His mother doesn't even think that. You can hate 22 all you want be he adds a dimension to this team that we havent had since Downey left. Emmerton love but Bert, Sammy Tootoo, Monster and Q are all scrubs. Ok friend!

I think you just love to read your own posts. Do you actually believe this arguement? Pretty sure we made a huge pitch for Suter and at the end of the day, he chose to play with his BFF. Just for the record, the 11 million dollars we spent was spend on depth...no one on that list is a scrub...Do I LOVE Sammy...Um, NO....but he can assist with some production. Q had a crap year but 2 years ago everyone bitched that we traded him when he had huge points....Everyone complained that we needed to get tougher...BAM, TooToo is signed and you ***** about that. Holland didnt puss out so when the cap goes down, we will be laughin' and thinking Kenny is a genius. PS As for youth coming in, hows that Emmerton situation working out? Just sayin'....n

I agree that future planning for Lids should have started happening after we won the cup in 2008. How long did people really think he was going to play. On another note, I cant predict whether or not Holland knew there was going to be a lockout but he is an intelligent and sophisticated GM...very respected and i would imagine he would have some clue as to what the league and his peers were thinking. Based on that assumption, I dont think he handcuffed the team with a major bonus signings or outrageoustacts and I respect him for that. If the Cap rolls back, teams are gonna be f4cked...and the wings really aren't!

there are a few sticky points...I think they will vote to reverse a few changes....Fingers and toes crossed for a short and peaceful resolution

Great topic. I agree with analogy that Yzerman was the better wing and Lids the best player BUT you have to consider what they meant to the team as well. When Stevie was drafted ( and initially lived partially in Lafontaines "pretend" shadow) we were the era of the Dead things. Basement dwellers until Yzerman got some help with Demers at the helm and guys like Oates and Gallant. Stevie Y put fans in the seats, and quickly became one of the most respected character guys in the NHL. In contrast, Lids came into a up and coming organization who had already aquired Coffee and Federov and were building the russian 5, and a dynasty. There was no pressure on him to the the face of the franchise. No pressure for him to be great (even though he was!) so these things made a difference. Yzerman changed detroits destiny and Lidstrom took over that well oiled ship once he left.

Yep, he was granted permission to go at the beginning of the lockout......thats why everyone was super excited to see Z sign there. He has been a beast
