Not sure if anyone else agrees, but when i went to the Joe last week for the Canucks game, we went to the Vue...a small place in Cobo hall. Great view of the water and they have a "burger and a beer" deal for 6.95. They are open before and after the game. The Chicken club was great and the location is really convenient. Just a thought!

My fear of games against teams like the Flyers and Ducks is that if we are ahead in the last 5 minutes, one of the MANY idiots will take a shot at one of our boys and try to put the hurt on someone. Unfortunatly, our enforcer Datsyuk is hurt...so who will protect us?

Agreed. They both have almost parallell careers. Both played lights out offensively in juniors. Both taken HIGH 1st picks (I think Eaves to Ottawa 4th over all and Clears was 11th?) Both couldnt adjust their offensive game with the big boys so a lot of clubs gave up on them and they each readjusted and found a way to stay in the NHL with grinding it out. Remember it took Cleary a few years with the Wings to find his mojo and look at him now- tied for goals when he was injured. Eaves, playing with Dats, Z or Mule could tally 50 pts easy in his sleep I think. Cleary 2.1!

No mention of the Big E in this thread when evaluating our defensive core. Perhaps I am the only one who thinks JE has been very solid for us since returning from injury. He is not giving the puck away like the Eriksson of old and he is finally using his big body to break up the play in the defensive end. I think someone needs to give him a shout out! I think Kindl's solid play made him get his sh!t together and it looks good on him. Good job Big E! PS One point on Stewie...I actually think he has been solid. especially on the PK. He is an asset to this team but he will never be Lids caliber. To be honest, right now I would prefer Stewie over Raffi, who will NEVER take a hit to make a play.

I also think that while we are concentrating on the offense, it would be a mistake not to mention how valuable his defensive game is. Val is an extremely hard worker in every area but because he isnt on a big point streak right now, this Trade him thread continues to roll. It is very possible for Flip to get 60 pts this year. We all know that he is streaky offensively, but he NEVER disappoints in his own end. For what we pay him, he adds a ton on depth to this team and his upside drastcially outweighs the parts of his game that need work.

St. Louis is one of the most under rated guys in the league bar none. I saw him play live at the St. Pete Times Forum in 2001 and I was dumbstruck about how fast he is. Seeing him on TV doesnt do it justice..the dude has wheels and that was almost 10 years ago, but he sees the ice so well and his positioning is so good that he is always in the mix. There are so many guys in the league that do not get the props they deserve for their play: Loui Erikkson in Dallas is another guy who is a monster and almost always is overlooked for his play, much like Jere Lehtinen was. Going with a Dallas stars theme here, I could throw Brad Richards in as well.

I am also going tonight and they have only lost twice in the 20+ games I have seen them play live (once was in 1996) so lets hope we can have a strong game. Zetty needs to have a strong game tonight, as does Jimmy. If Hudler is playing on the 2nd line, this could be his last chance to make an impact...I mean, how many chances can you give little Happy without pulling the cord. Should be a great game!
