Great weekend- Just a few thoughts: Kindl, Modano, Thomas Mc Collum stood out to me as guys that "gelled" I am so stoked for the season to begin. I honestly think we are the team to beat this year. Everyone looked solid with lots of chemistry! Drop the puck already! Archibald too...I thought he was very solid with lots of vision...anyone else impressed with his play?

yeah, Centre Ice is sold out for Saturday....grrr. In 2008 we had plenty of ppl come up and ask if we wanted to buy tickets so the 2 of us are going and if my friend can buy one in TC, she will do that...although she'd rather have one beforehand...

So The NHL is growing...all over the world and the newest population of people who are embracing the game are women! Its true, women LOVE hockey It seems that in the past, women who watch hockey are placed in three distinct catagories: The tight fitting,pink jersey puck bunny, The devoted hockey mom or the "husband hang-on"....the women who totes behind "her man" going to games because he bought her tickets for valentines day. Sigh. As a diehard hockey fan, these stereotypes totally piss me off because I am nothing of the three. I don't have a pink Wings jersey...and my son (at 8 months old) is a bit young to lace up the skates. Finally, lets be clear- I am the hockey almanac in this household! Just curious about how guys feel about women embracing the sport and if they still see women in these three catagoies. Its true that some women (myself included) cant help but notice Lijia is gorgeous, and Flip has amazing eyes...but I dont gush anymore than a man who cant help notice Sharapova's legs at the US Open. Puck Bunny..NO..Human, yes! There was a topic here started by Bring back the Bruise Brothers about " Is your wife/ girlfriend" a hockey fan that brought up some interesting comments. Just wanted to know if guys still see women in these catagories and for woman, if you are ever discriminated against as a female hockey fan? With woman being the biggest new supporter of hockey in the last 10 years, does it abolish these stereotypes? Thoughts, Experiences, Points of view?

Well said. Nothing better than watching the game with friends that REALLY enjoy hockey..also good point about attraction....Its not like I watch the games to watch Lils..It just happens to be a perk!

Nothing wrong with any of it at all...and the pink jersey, Its cool if some women prefer it. I like my reebok edge jersey signed by Zetty...but thats just my preference . I think I was using the pink jersey to illustrate a point. It does tend to be frustrating that some people think because you have a ******, you can't understand what an offside is. I also think that women who come to fan sites are actual fans...we are here to share our passion with hockey, connect with other fans and get into interesting discussions about the team. On these boards, you will probably find more knowledgable women, more than any other venue per se.

Ok, Ill start..lol I picked Zetty for a few X factors. Talented at both ends of the ice. Is a clutch performer and obviously is well respected and well liked in the dressing room. I like Doughtey but if you are starting a franchise you need a bit of experience, which he doesnt have. OV- he is a self centred guy...very, very talented but not always a team guy. Crosby is an obvious choice, even if he is a ******, but often the most gifted guy isnt the best guy to mentor, teach and lead. Pavel for me is the ultimate franchise guy, but although he is brutally funny, I am not sure how the language barrier may affect his ability to run a room. Thoughts??

The Big E should be a tank out there. He is very capable of leveling guys; he just needs to relax and play his game. I remember watching him in the Worlds and thinking WTF...where has THIS Ericcson been? He was hitting everything and moving the puck so well... C'me on Big E, no more Lebda as a liability- its time to step it up!
