Hank at 22 is really low. He was hurt last year and so were his linemates. Zetterberg is a better player than Toews, he just didnt have the kind of season that reflects that. He should be higher IMO.

Well Stated Newfy- I LOVE Z, but he is lucky to crack the Top 10. Go back to 07/08 and then he is in the conversation but lets be honest, as fans of the Wings and fans of hockey. I loathe Cindy but he is for sure Top 3 ....and Backstrom...WTF? He was the BEST, most consistant player on the Caps last year- I mean, the guy backchecks...Mike Green, a defenseman doesn't even do that! You can take a mulligan if you want.

Although its a bit premature to align Helmer's play with Draper, you cant help but notice the glaring similairities. Although Helm doesnt have the offensive finish that Drapes had in his prime, they play very much alike- Heart of a lion, tremendous work ethic,great speed, faceoff dominance, defensively responsible, physical and relentless. I think Kenny and the boys love Helms attitude and based on Drapers career, I would say that Helm has the biggest chance of being a franchise guy, along with Flip. If Flip has a 50-60 pt. year and reaches the expectations the Wings think he can, I can see this happening.

With all the injuries, ast year, our third line was sometimes Maltby, Miller and Abby! This IS the best thrid line in the NHL on paper. Huds is going to have his career year!

It depends on the player but some collectors like junior stuff but most don't believe its a real "rookie". Guys like Crosby, OV and whatnot always fetch good money. Generally jr team cards dont hold their value unless its an auto or patch auto. I hope that helps! I tend to agree with some of this post. Helm (especially) and Abby would and should have been priority. Signing them shows that the organization appreciates their play and respects them instead of waiting around. Get them signed and Modano (or whomever) can have the chicken scratch.

For guys like PK who is looking to end his career on an upswing, the Wings would be a perfect match. He isnt getting much done in St. Louis but the skills are all there. If he wanted to come and play on the 3rd line with Huds/ Cleary or whatever for the motown discount, I would be 2 thumbs up...and prefer it to Modano.

I collected a few when I was a kid and then in my early 30's, I started collecting again. I am usually in the minority at the local card shop or on trade night being a woman...(and yes, I have encountered a ton of guys who try to "convince me" to trade my graded Yzerman RC for some 8 dollar jersey card!) but for the most part, people are great and understand that being a woman in the hobby doesnt mean I don't know what I am doing. I collect Yzerman, Zetterberg and Filppula cards with Zetty being my main quest. My Zetty collection is over 200 cards, aproximately 15 RCS, 25 Autos and 40 Patch or jersey (or skate/stick) memoribila cards. I had my son in january so all the card money is now pablum and toy money so I havent ripped any wax this year, although I have picked up a few cards on ebay. Val has been easier to collect because he isnt a huge star so I have every card, with the exception of only 8 of Fil's cards that have been made. I love the hobby and it will be interesting to see what Panini produces this year with their debut! I would love to trade with other LGW members so feel free to email me. I dont have photobucket at present but certainly have lots of traders!

Perhaps I am solo on this but Kovalchuk's stalling is starting to feel like the Lebron sweepstakes (which I am SO tired of) Its like we are in a gigantic "trade traffic jam" due to Kovy's indecision. No doubt that Kovalchuk is a coveted signing but GET ON WITH IT. There are 4-5 teams that have expressed serious interest in him and, due to the domino effect, there are now 20 plus guys and probably half of the teams in NHL wondering where they are going to play or what there roster is going to look like next year. The kind of money that Kovy is demanding seriously limits the pool to only a handful of teams, because of the cap hit. Whatever is on the table is most likely what he is going to get... I dont often listen to Eklund, but he referred to the whole mess as a Clusterchuk...and it is.

I actually disagree..from what I have read, its Kovalchuk who is demanding the long term "Hossa" contract...so why not play for a 1 yr deal and then test the waters. Or, decrease the asking price and play for a playoff bound team. I am not saying he doesnt have the right to take his time and make a decision (which he HAS), but if he is stating he wants a 10 yr contract for 90 mill+, the only teams that can offer him that are teams that are in a re-building mode. He has three or four viable options...rebuilding team, take less money to play on a contending team, shorten the contract time or play in the KHL. I think if you have respect for the league- your employer, you find a fit thats "the most" suitable for you. There is aways a comprimise. I recall ppl freaking out because Lids took 10 days to decide and it felt like a lifetime on the boards and the speculation was endless. I think people feel that way about Modano...It must be hard on the teams (Like LA and NY) who cant move on to there next season plan. Kovalchuk has been offered something from (rumoured) up to 8 teams. Surely he can find a happy medium in there somewhere. PS He is a prima donna

I agree...that would multiply my annoyance by 100. I actually agree with seeing what JT and Kovie could do on the Island....either way, put pen to paper and get it done.
