Wow...Sedins to the Island would change that team drastically....travares and other young talent with the Sedins...that could really bring some excitement back to that organization!
-
Barf- I would WAY rather have Quincey than Calder...I couldnt stand him when he came to Detroit!
-
Agreed- I love this kid and to get him at the 32nd spot is a steal. He was ranked to go as high as 12th...Good job Kenny!

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa

You and me both!! -
Why doubt the VERY BEST last round draft team in NHL history...I mean, Zetty, Pavel, Lids, Homer...need I say more. The second round is early for the Wings. They probably have some unknown prospect who no one has ever seen skate besides the Wings

Hudler on the FOURTH line...really? C'me on- Leino has scored 3 goals
-
Kaberle and the 7th pick for Kessel....that is a horrible deal for the Leafs....of course, they are good at making horrible deals. I dont think this one will go through at all. Maybe Kessel for Kaberle, straight up but Burke wont part with that 7th pick IMO

Wow...Gabby is a bit of a gamble as he has had so many health issues. When he is on, he's amazing but I think its risky

You raise some good points here and I agree with you in a lot of respects but I do want to point out that Huds has been with the team for two more years than Flip (years with more than 5 games played) and we all know that it does make a difference in your adjustment to the league. Look at a guy like Richards, Carter, Parise, Getzlaf...all who needed a few years to get used to the speed and physical play of the NHL. Flip is a way better all around player and i think that he will find his shot and his range to put more points up. Flip has not disappointed me....He is a young guy who has been finding his niche. Perhaps i thought he would find his game a little sooner, but I really, really liked what I saw in the SCP and I think he will be a better player next year. With that said, i think Huds is great and I would like him to stay in Detroit.

We will agree to disagree then Of course, it all depends on if he gets time on the PP and who his line mates are but i really see him as a 60pt guy. PS: If you can see him getting 55, why not 60?

I have a weird feeling that Kenny has something up his sleeve. Something just feels a bit off. Anyone else get that sense?? I dunno- it just seems too hush hush for me! As for Sammy, like most of you, I will have to find a new goat to scream at!

Longshot but is it possible Penguins could match what Oilers
Motown4013 replied to thegreat66's topic in General
Nice handle buddy...go troll somewhere else....really -
Hence my comment to you earlier- you come in here in another thread and start saying that the Pens are like the Oil after winning one cup in the last 17 years? Hey, Tampa Bay won a cup....anything is possible but they are NOT the next hockey dynasty either
-
I didnt say it would be the only factor...but it will definately be a factor. Confidence is a wonderful thing and we saw Flip come into his own. I mean look at Hossa...he was shooting the puck with no confidence and he ended up being a bust in the playoffs. Flip will be a better player next year and he is absolutely able to be a 60 pt guy on this team.

When you are the BEST franchise in ANY of the four sports, have won 4 cups in 11 years and considered one of the last modern day dynasties, you get a few bragging rights.

I think if we are looking at stats, the most astonishing stat is that Huds, in the regular season was the MOST effective player for points vs icetime. He made the most of the time he was given and minute for minute was better than Dats, Z, Hossa and the Mule. Thats amazing. He could easily get 3 mill on the open market because on most teams he would be on the 1st or 2nd line. He wont get it in Motown, be he would be worth it!!!
-
Id take Heater anyday over an aging Marleau....I agree, I think they will make a huge push for him and try to reunite some Team Canada chemistry with Big Joe and Heatly. Could be interesting!
-
You are kidding right? WOW...did we watch the same playoffs? Flip consistantly was in the Top 3 forwards in the SCP for the Wings. Do you not recall the game willing back pass to Sammy? Not a playmaker huh??. He IS a playmaker and a good one at that. We have not ever come close to seeing his potential. He can be a 60pt guy and he never gets any powerplay time. He SHOULD be on the second powerplay and I think he will next year. We will see this time next year when he gets on the PP....60 pts easy.
-
I fear a trade to SJ They need to shake things up and they have said no one is safe. I can totally see this happening. Marleau and a guy like Goc or Vlasic for Heatly. I would be terrified of a Thornton, Heatly line (except in the playoffs...LOL..j/k) IMO, I think this is really possible

Zetterberg is my favorate Wing...and he is STILL underrated. He is a playoff beast in both ends of the ice and even though he had a "disappointing" regular season ( compared to other years) I think he felt a lot of stress about signing in Detroit. The guy is amazing and we would have not got as far as we did in the playoff's, this year OR last! Z Rocks!!!!!!!
-
I am still not convinced. I think his numbers in GR are impressive BUT i saw him in training camp 10 months ago and when you put him up against even our 3rd line boys, he is obviously out of place. Remember how we were all hand clapping for Jimmy Howard? When he finally came up in February, he played horrid and was clearly not in the same class as NHL goalies. It doesnt help that our D sucked but ...thats what I feel about Ritola. Maybe he needs a few more years but he is NOT ready now (unless he had a talent outbreak in the last 10 months)

I dont really root for any other team in the NHL- I bleed the winged wheel, however, I do find myself watching and following some players on opposing teams. Guys I like and really admire for a bunch of reason, some of which include: Lucic Mike Richards Parise Doan Keith Cammalleri OV Backstrom Guys I cant stand and have developed a healthy hatred for: Pronger Perry Crosby Matt Cooke Claude Lemeiux Mike Modano ( never liked him) Byflugien
