One player to put us over the top

I like Kane....but thats a LOT to give up for him. Mule, a first and Mrzek (goalie if the future)???.....I think that might be too much for PATRICK Kane.

    Jakub Kindl

My only knock on Kindl is that he appears to get flustered by a hit. He tends to try and avoid it, thereby losing the puck. He needs some board work and the ability to take a hit....other than that, I think everyone is spot in....great skater, good vision, good passer. He definatjely took some strides this year.

    Henrik and Pavel

Maybe I am in the minority here because when I think of Zetterberg, I think of everything the Red Wings organization stands for. Zetterberg is a quiet leader, a classy man, a fierce competitor. He is a huge playoff clutch player and at times, when the team needed someone to step up, it has been Hank. He is humble and gracious, gives back to the community and is already shown he will be a great captian. When it's all said and done, I think he will surpass the 1000 point mark....but even if he doesn't, signing him as a career Red Wing and giving him the C .....I just can't imagine number 40 not hanging from the rafters when he retires.

Thanks for the updates and links. So happy Helm is back out there! PS I loved the mask....anyone else?

    Smith files for arbitration

I don't think this is going to bode well for Smitty. The guy had 8 assists and more penalty minutes than games played. He's gonna be locked in on the cheap!

    Brunner Contract Talks

Sabres? Maybe he can play on a line with Leino! As a matter of fact, perhaps Sammy will waive his NTC and they can make a line call it the misfit exwings? Awww, we can dream.
  7. Ok, well we can argue about how difficult 70 points can be or whether he is too old or whatnot but we have a much better team than we did last year. I say 70 points is not out of the realm for him on this team. He has done it 10 years in his career. Obviously he has to stay healthy but it's not like I am saying Miller is going to score 70! Offense- that's why Detroit brought him here....it certainly wasn't for his hair.
  8. I disagree that this is the 2009 roster and I ask think this is a team poised to make it to the conference finals or the SCF. We are a better team than last year. Even last year, alfredsson but up decent numbers on an offensive depleted team. If healthy he can score 70 points in his sleep playing with Pasha, Hank, Mule Ect....he is also a VERY good two way player. I wasn't keen on this trade when it happened but if you look at the guys stats and who he has had to play with, I am confident that he will generate offense that we did not have last year. Weiss is better than flip and he is stronger. That's an instant upgrade and again you have a shoot first mentality. Our third line is better than 2009 and with the emergence on Gus, Dekeyser and Big E, our young guys are turning into legit players for this roster. Howard was awesome and is playing the best hockey of his career. I certainly think this team can be a contender. A few tweaks and we will be close.

    Grabovski Bought Out

Grabo kind of reminds me of when Semin was available and had the floater reputation. If we could get him for under 4, I bet he would flourish with Pavel. The risk is small and the reward is great!

Canucks trade Schneider to Devils for 9th overall pick

Classless not to discuss this with Luongo after stringing the guy along for over a year, signing Schneider, and making it a f'n circus for everyone on that team. It's hard to feel sorry for a Canuck but I do for Lou in this position. What a joke. I guess that's why I am a fan of the classiest team in hockey!

    Rules regarding salary

I think it should be reversed......throw the moon at Dats to stay in Detroit and a superstar UFA gets paid a million dollars to play with the guy. WIN WIN!!!

2013 Thank You Hockeytown - Player Message

I don't care if Zetterberg owns an iron. Doesnt bother me that Brunner wore a hat that looks like he stole it from Kmart, or that Cleary's eye looks like he has a raging staph infection....that video is all class. This team is all class. The heart that they showed in the playoffs translated perfectly in that video. They are obviously are all devastated but to put that aside and say a genuine thank-you to the fans.......pure awesome. They should be proud of themselves and I know that I feel proud to be a Wings fan every day. They are the classiest bunch of guys from the BEST franchise in sport. Thank you to YOU Red Wings, for bringing it every night and allowing us to enjoy Wings hockey for just a little longer than most expected this year! I can't wait for the fall!!!

    Our future Depth

I chose Gus because he has all the skills....just needs to bulk up a bit. He is very tenacious and I love his style of play. Kinda reminds me of when Z came in.....which says a lot since Hank is my favorite player. DD is going to awesome as well. I'm excited about our young guys....it's been such a pleasant surprise in the playoff run we have had!

    Watching Ericsson mature

I have always been a supporter of Johnny...even when he struggled to find his game I always thought he could elevate. I thought last night that the Big E had the VERY best game of his career. I think it was overlooked by Pashas unbelievable shot and Bruns OT winner, but he has really impressed me in the playoffs and especially last night. He used his size to punish the quacks over and again. He has been a difference maker on the PK. He also made some really good decisions with the puck. Like a few guys on this team, he stepped up. After being the goat on this roster, I wanted to give props where they are due. We are watching Ericsson turn into a legit shut down Dman and it's very cool to watch!

Abby in for game 6... Who draws out?

I liked the BFF line last year Bert, Flip and Franzen were a menace....still allows us offense on both top lines while Abby checks in for Emdog on the 4th.

    Watching Ericsson mature

I am actually surprised, given the match-ups that he and Perry havent dropped the gloves....I called it in game 1...perhaps we may see it in game 6. He's startng to piss some of thos boys off which I LOVE!!!

    Watching Ericsson mature

We can agree to disagree on where he should be in terms of lines but I do disagree with not using his body effectively- that's one of the features of his game that has become a weapon. He lead ALL defenseman in hits by a landslide ( 26 more in the regular season that Kronwall) As for trading him.....we just signed him in the summer so he isn't slated to become a UFA for 3 years. At a 3.25 million cap hit, I would also disagree with your assertion that he is overpaid. Quincey makes more! Anyway, I am not arguing that he is the next Bobby Orr or that he should win the Norris....I simply wanted to give Kudos where they are due. We dog the guys when they don't show up...I think we should also praise when they excel.
