Game 4 is in my top 10 Wings games ever 3: 2002 Final vs Carolina. He only signed that 570k contract because he felt like he could add something to the team with ozzie out and that was all the cap room the wings have. Come july 1, assuming the islanders let him hit free agency, teams wont have to worry about a waiver process and teams like Washington, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, etc will probly offer him contracts for around 3-4 mill. Why would take the wings offer for under a mill when he can go to a team with a equal shot at a cup for more money?

my $0.02: Kenny has nothing up his sleeve. he has an opportunity to add a proven goalie for next to nothing to give Howard some rest before the playoffs start and thats all it is, and who knows maybe Nabby takes over as the #1 and is our guy for the playoffs. If he is claimed by another team(which i'am expecting) he will stay with that team for the rest of the season and there will be no weird or unusual deals that will get him to Detroit, Kenny saw what NJ went through with the whole Kovi thing and doesn't want anything like that to happen here(plus if bettman ACTUALLY does have it out for the wings, as a lot of us think he does, he would love to screw us out of draft picks and money). Nabokov will not be with Detroit next year, he will either re-sign with the team that claims him or take a good-great deal with a team that will have a shot to win a cup within the next few years.

Since the new NHL has allowed for the more skilled players to do what they do best I want a thread to consist of the best goals/plays/moves/whatever. I want this thread to show that hockey has the most talented athletes in the world. and dont limit the videos to just NHL, if there are any highlights form some of the junior leagues or euro leagues put them up as well. My gf knew there was a sport called hockey when we met, I've tried to get her into it but she's not really a sports kind of girl. She will occasionally watch games with me but usually falls asleep when she does. The only piece of red wings memorabilia she has is a hudler jersey since he's her favorite player. Datsyuk is a close second cuz he has a "funny shaped head"

so as i'm watching game 7 of the 2003 cup I started thinking about the similarities between the 2000-2003 Devils and the 2008-2011 Wings are. NJ 2000:Wins cup in 6 games NJ 2001:Lost game 7 in finals after having 3-2 lead in series NJ 2002:First round loss NJ 2003:Won cup in 7 games DET 2008:Wins cup in 6 games DET 2009:Lost game 7 in finals after having 3-2 lead in series DET 2010:Second round loss DET 2011:? with the exception of the game 7's(NJ road, DET home) and which round the teams lost after the game 7 loss they are the same results. Is this foreshadowing or just a coincidence?
