Mule-Pav-Homer Hudler-Z-Flip(1) Bert-Helm-Cleary Eaves-Abby-Miller Draper and/or Ritola and/or Flip(2) No way Hudler and Flip(1) are on the bottom 6. Those lines give the wings the best 3rd line in the league. Plus Cleary and Bert can replace Homer on the top line if babs wants a little more speed.

It's been 2 years since the wings won the 2008 cup. I say lets dedicate this thread to that team. Only positive things to be posted please. put any videos, picture, stories, or whatever from that season in this thread and lets remember that team. i did not make this video. and i know i said nothing bad and it starts with the injuries, but it has the call from Ken Kal at the end so its worth it

thats sort the argument that alot of people have over the heart trophy. does it go to the most valuable player or the best player?

I see him as our best player based on how much the team would suffer if that player were not playing, the wings would be much worse without lidstrom. the loss of pav would hurt alot but lidstrom means much more to the team. Brodeur isnt the best player on NJ, parise is, but when he retires nobody will be able to replace what he has done for the devils

i try not to but sometimes i cant resist, plus it seems like more people are upset about it than relieved so i just needed to get that rant out

im just as spoiled but i understand that what the wings have done in the last 15 years is very special and it will end some day, Lidstrom retiring will have a HUGE impact on that so im happy that we will have at least another year of a cup continting team to root for

After reading the comments that some of you have left regarding Lidstrom re-signing for next year I'am actually embarrassed to be associated with you. Have you been so spoiled over the past 15 years that the fact that Holland signed our best player to a $1.2 mill discount is hurting the team? The way i see it the only way our team could be worse next year is if Lidstrom retired or asked for more than he made last year. He could have demanded the league max and forced Holland to tear the team apart to sign him, because he is worth the league max. He could have retired and the wings could hope that they find his replacement in the draft sometime in the next....30 years, players like him come around once every generation or so and the fact that he played for the wings his entire career is a blessing. If you guys don't want the best player of the past 20 years there are 29 other teams that will gladly take him off our hands even at 40 y/o. Had he retired could we had a shot a getting Kovi? sure, but last time i checked Kovi doesn't play 28 min/game and wont shut down the other teams best players every game. Lidstrom has the kind of impact on games that Crosby and Ovechkin have and Holland signed him for close to $3 mill less than those guys are getting. I'am thanking the Hockey gods everyday(alot today)for allowing the wings to have players like Lidstrom, Zetterberg, and Datsyuk because every other team had a shot at drafting these guy and the wings could have the success that the Florida Panthers has had. Those of you that are complaining I want you to go root for the Panthers or the Thrashers next year so you can be humbled and because you don't deserve to be associated with the Red Wings. You are the reason that every other fan base can't stand us thinks we are entitled to everything. Could he have signed for 4 or 5 million? yes, but the fact that he still want to play and still wants to play for the wings is worth 6.2 million dollars. If you want to call him up and pay him 2 million out of your own pocket so he could sign for 4 mill im sure he would take you up on it. met Gordie Howe a little over a month ago, never thought i would get to met him seeing as I live in Wyoming but he came here for a benefit for youth hockey. the venue it was at was 1/2 a block from my building so i just walked there about 5 minutes before it started. As i was walking up to the door i see about 5 people going in and tailing behind them was Mr. Hockey himself, i slowed down cuz i didn't know how tight the security was for him and didn't want to get in trouble. He goes in and about 10 seconds later I go in and see him and the group of guys with him waiting for the elevator. the doors open as i start into the hallway and they crowd in, i knew that i would be waiting for it to come down as it was pretty stuffed and they didn't know me. but as i'm standing their waiting for the doors to close one the guys says "you coming" and i stood there for a couple beats with my jaw on the floor and said "ya". Gordie looked at my wings hat and said "whatcha got on your hat there?" me being completely star struck just said "Hello Mr. Howe" they laughed and then I just stared at Gordie and listened to him talk about how he couldn't walk around saskatchewan after he signed with the wings, that was and will be the best elevator ride of my life. the elevator opened and i walked out and got in line to enter the event and he walked passed everybody in line and into the event the set up wasn't that great as he just walked into the room and everybody surrounded him and you just hoped he turned to you and got to talk to him. i waited about 10 minutes and he turned to me and he signed my wings hat and i got a picture with him, he didnt remember me from the elevator but thats ok with me. Homer Pav Mule Flip Z Bert Cleary Helm Hudler Miller Abby Eaves Draper Ritola or a free agent in the mold of Drake Lids(fingers crossed) Raffi Kronner Stuart Big E Kindl Meech or a free agent singing Howie Ozzy i think that Hudler is the only guaranteed free agent signing the wings will have this off season. the other possibilities are a 4th liner that will fill dallas drakes' shoes whom the team has missed more than anyone thought possible, and somebody to take the place of Lilja whom may never recover from the concussion and holland may not want to waste the cap space. the only way meech sticks around is if the price is right on all the signing that will take place and if he plays so well the wings cant afford to get rid of him. Ritola will have to beat out draper and whom ever the wings bring in on tryouts to make the team other wise its another year in GR or a trade out of town.

is it just me or does it seem like after the Wings blowout a team, whether its 7-1 SJ, 5-0 Pitt, or 9-1 CBJ the next game they always seem to come out flat. that does worry me a bit, but at the same time they have never done it in a situation like this where they are still on the brink. i do expect this game 5 to be the toughest game of the series for the wings to win(even if it goes 7) just for the fact that the sharks are still very confident that they will win the series. if the wings can pull out a game 5 win the sharks will be terrified that they have to play a very confident wings team at JLA with thoughts of an all-time choke in their minds. I think that if the wings have the mental thoughts of get another home game they will have win, but with a score like 4-2 not 7-1.

When FSD isn't able to broadcast the game the wings record is 0-4 When FSD is able to broadcast the game the wings record is 4-1, the only loss was game 1 vs PHX. the good news: FSD will do the rest of the games in the 2nd round the bad news: they wont be able to broadcast the WCF or the SCF(if Det makes it that far)

i mean no disrespect posting this, i just want to get your feelings before game 4 what are your expectations as to how the series will end? will it be over quick, or will your sharks give you a scare? do the wings playing with nothing to lose worry you? if it goes to game 7 who wins? if they lose this series who do you want traded/released/fired?

i had it all wrong round 1: NATL exclusive: 0-2 FSD: 4-1 round 2 NATL exclusive: 0-2 FSD: 4-1? maybe they are just trying to duplicate what they did in the first round, lose all the NATL exclusive game and the first game FSD has, but then they win all of the other games FSD has. Well its good to know the comeback is happening

the wings are telling the media all the right things, "one game at a time" but the key to a comeback will be to actually do that and don't have the mindset of a "comeback". if they don't put a lot of pressure on themselves it will make this a whole lot easier. i hope the wings think like this for each game: game 4: Pride, don't get swept game 5: get one more home game game 6: the sharks will have all the pressure at this point so just have fun game 7: it's game 7
