@DarrenDreger: All indications are the Dallas Stars are about to make a GM change. Detroit's Jim Nill expected to be named GM of Stars as early as Mon. Well that sucks, but I'm very happy for Jim.

If they were smart they would put the beginning of the wings game on msnbc until the Chicago game is over.

NBCSN just showed they will have game 1 Tuesdays at 10:30 pm

This could somewhat of a farewell tour for the wings since they are moving east. Start by playing Anaheim who have played a 3 classic/interesting series against each other in the last 10 years. Move on to play one last series(as conference rivals) against Chicago. And finish up against recent rivals San Jose before showing the east what they will have to deal with.

10 years ago the #2 seeded Red Wings were swept by the #7 seeded Might Ducks. Revenge is a dish best surved cold. The wings are hot, winning 4 in row in dominating fashion and getting points in 5 of last 6. The Ducks have questionable goaltending and Detroit has played very well against Anaheim this year. And historically #2 seeds have been uset in the first round more than 1, 2, or 4. I smell an upset and it smells a lot like cooked duck.

My only guess is because Dallas is a football town.

As it has been pointed out before, #22 will make it 22 years

The Wings Are 16-0-2 When Scoring Three or More Goals
Wings4Life19 replied to Dabura's topic in General
Lidstrom, Rafalski, Stuart, Schneider, Chelios, Konstantinov, Fisher. The last 20 years the wings have had guys that were elite when it came to that first pass from the defensive zone, now that they are gone the wings are learning how to get the puck out differently and that will take a year or so to adjust to. Add in the fact that injuries really messed with team chemistry this year and I think that's why the offense has slumped this year. -
Just want to point out that the first time the wings fell apart in the 3rd period against the flames this year they won 5 of the next 6.

I was living in Dallas when the stars moved there(I was 5) and that got me into hockey, though I didn't understand much about it, I moved back to Wyoming when the avs moved to Denver so I started to watch those games. One day I decided that 'my team' was going to be whoever the avs were playing and it just so happened to be the wings and he rest is history.

If we are talking about finishing his career in Russia I say he plays till 42-43 so he could do another 2 year deal here and get in 3 years in Russia. Now if you add the family factor that changes everything and its anybody's guess.

I remember Babcock talking about how getting to the final four was considered a good year. And there would be 26 other teams that would trade places with us if we got there.Edit: and way to completely miss the point I was making. I was pointing out that the playoffs are completely random and every team has a chance to win it, not that the conference finals are the main goal.

Of the teams that upset the wings they didnt have a lot of success after that (Anaheim excluded but they remade their roster). So yes this wings team is better than those teams. And a good percentage of the roster have not played in the playoffs so we have no idea how they will play when it's do or die. I just don't understand why there are so many willing to write this team off so quick. I'm not saying they will make noise come playoff time but I'm saying give them a chance. I feel sorry for everyone that thinks the season is lost

How many times have we all watched as the wings ran through the regular season and then met a team like Edmonton, Calgary, or Anaheim who has talent to compete for the cup but were way to inconsistent during the season and it made them barley make the playoffs. They beat Detroit who was clearly the better team because they thought their skill was enough but the other teams wanted it more an had been in playoff mode for weeks before the playoffs started. WILL BEATS SKILL. That the most important thing to winning in the playoffs, you have to want it more than them.

The wings have always been one of the hardest working teams, they haven't won any of the last 4 cups by being more physical than who they are playing, they have been grittier but not more physical, they have shown an ability to play tight defense, an Howard is good enough to play lights out for 2 months. The only thing stopping them from holding down the 4th or 5th seed is that they turn the puck over a lot, and that has to do with the the guys who are still leaning how to play at this level and learning how to play with each other.

The seeds that have made the conference finals since 2002: 2002: 1,2 3,4 2003: 6,7 1,2 2004: 2,6 1,3 2006: 6,8 2,4 2007: 1,2 1,4 2008: 1,5 2,6 2009: 2,4 4,6 2010: 1,2 7,8 2011: 1,2 3,5 2012: 3,8 1,6 A team that was seeded 5th or lower has made the conference finals 5 years in a row and 8 of the last 10 years so yes anything is possible. And it's even more true now considering no team is unbeatable and parity is in full force
-
Every team that misses the playoffs goes into the draft lottery so teams like Colorado and Calgary that should get a top 5 pick arnt guaranteed to get to pick that high
-
We all know the wings had a bad season against the jackets but is it just the fact that they were due to have that kind of season against each other or are the jackets finally turning the corner. They have a point in their last 10 games and have won 7 of those. They are only 2 points out of 8th in the west and 3 behind Detroit. So are the jackets for real?

Somebody has to be hurt, they can't recall anyone else till the playoffs unless its on an emergency basis
-
My guess is he sits until the Calgary game, I hope I'm wrong but they sent Tatar down and can't recall him till the playoffs. Normally I trust what babs does with the lineups but the injuries this year have made him go with as many healthy vets as he can put in there

PPPasha!
