The wings will be a lottery team for the next 10 years because they arnt over paying for Ryan or Parise's rights? Settle down everyone. Holland and Babcock have in one way or another said they will be aggressive on July 1 and see the need to get bigger, grittier, and tougher to play against.

How well they do from late November till early January will go along way in deciding the season.

How do you guys feel about maybe trading Hudler's rights? Seeing as how the free-agent pool isn't going to be very deep, and guys who can score 20-30 goals/year don't grow on trees, you'd think someone would be willing to give a 2nd round pick(maybe 1st round pick if Kenny really works his magic) EDIT: assuming Hudler has his sights set on $4+ mill/year

Alex Semin would be great if he felt like playing for a reasonable price or for most of the season

a couple things i would like you to touch on: -Is home ice more important to DET than other teams? -Are the injuries a blessing in disguise in the sense that Lids, Pav, and Howie will be more rested for the playoffs, and prospects(Smith, Nyquist, etc..)are getting NHL experience? or will they be rusty from the time off being so close to the start of the playoffs? -And, should we prepare for another lockout with no meetings scheduled till after the season?

i'm in Casper,WY, not to far from you andapanda, and had the same problem with the det-min game. I work alot of evenings so haven't been able to notice any other blackouts. I go through Optimum and called them when I noticed the wings game was blacked out and the only thing he thought it could be was that the arena didn't want the game shown in center ice, but that was purely speculation on his part. he said that they would call me when they found out what the reasoning behind the blackout was but haven't heard back as of yet

The fact that this doesn't happen more often is rather astonishing if you think about how many professional sports teams there are in the world, and how often they have to fly. Is this the first time since the Marshall tragedy that something like this happened?

I'm in agreement with you, if Mark Messier, who most people would agree that he was as important to the NHL as Mario Lemieux or Wayne Gretzky, doesn't get that honor I have a feeling Gretzky was the last player that this will happen to.

I would put Doug Harvey and Mark Messier in the same group with Nick with Mess being ahead. And based on your logic your saying that Dit Clapper, Ted Lindsay, and Red Kelly are as good or better than Nick, I disagree.

if this season he wins the Heart, another Norris, another cup, and another Con Smyth then calls it quits I hope they at least consider it. But considering Guy Lafleur, Doug Harvey, Ray Bourque, and Mark Messier among others arnt on that list I doubt he makes it.

a three team trade does seem more likely to happen to detroit : Semin, 3-7 round pick (3rd team) to Washington : hudler, 3rd team player/prospect, wings 2nd round pick to 3rd team: wings prospect, wsh prospect and 4-7 round pick or something like that, im no good at these things
