....This is what I've been saying. Put him where he belongs with the more solid players and he WILL produce....just like he does on the PP.....Huds is a smaller guy, but playing on a line w/ Z or Franzen and I would bet money that he'd be scoring more than on a line w/ Sammy and such.........The solid, more experienced players don't try to be superstars and "puck hog" they know when to let go and assist a goal w/ a good play maker...and being on a line w/ some bigger guys will make up for his lack of size....(IMO)

There was another quote after this one stating that Hudler could easily be a #2 line player on a weaker team and easily score more or something like that....Hudler doesn't need to be on a weaker team....he needs to be with stronger players on Detroit....if he was on the 2nd line in the D with those guys, more experinced defensive & skilled guys, then he'd have no problem scoring more goals..... You know, the thread I started about keeping Huds was basically the same thing, except for the "worth $3 mil" part......but Im glad another one was started. My 30th Bday is tomorrow and knowing that the draft starts Friday.....anyone want to guess what the best birthday present in the world could be right now?!?!?!??! ;o)

Why trtade someone this year when it won't do us any good til next year....that is just silly! KEEP HUDS!!! "Flips has potential to be better than Huds"....they are the same age, doesn't Fils have a season or two on Huds???? If Fils has potential, are people saying that Huds does not.....top 6 forwards...for a center....top 90 overall league assists......#7/#8 regular and playoffs for the Wings.... Hudler plays on the PP b/c he scores w/ the key players that are on the PP...Fils plays on the PK...b/c he IS bigger, a two way player....why would Babs put him on the PP if Huds obviously shows that he is better at PP then PK...that's commen sense...Im not hockey smart, but I know that much.... and you can't say anyone will be the next Dats, Z, etc........they are the only ones of their caliber, yes other players have the skill...but that is why they have made their OWN names for themselves.....some people just can't be compared to anyone......Huds has made a name for himself, the little guy on The Wings that can play the game, and no matter what people say.....that little dude can take a hit...and come back to play....so phlewwwwwwwwwwww!

I LOVE Z!!! He is one of my three players that I am debating on for a jersey if Huds happens to leave the Wings.......!!! (yes, Im keeping my Huds jersey, but I have to have a current player as well! Zetterberg kicks ass!!! I actually just gave him "assist props" in the thread about Hudler not being worth $3 mil.......!!!

ROTF-LMFAO...........some of you that quoted on the thread I started about reasoning for letting Hudler go said that he could easily get 2.5-3 mil somewhere else playing on at least the 2nd line......and now you say he's not worth that much and will never play on a 1-2 line. Tell me, if Huds is not good enough to play with the top key players.....why do most of his goals have Z for the assist.....he might have been playing on the 4th line in the playoffs, but was making plays during shift changes where he happened to be on the ice w/ the 1/2 lines........ We all know here that I want Huds to stay......this is all I will say is this thread as I read every single reply to thread that I started and I am more understanding to the situation.... But to say that Huds isn't worth $3...come on, the stats are there.......

Well, Im just so glad we live in freaking Kodiak Alaska.....!!!! I can't wait til we are back in the real world and can go to things like these!!! Hope a bunch of you got some stuff signed!!!

Wings through & through.....(even though, and yes, I finally admit, I am a converted Avs fan-hey I'm from Kansas!) But after meeting my man in 2004...I was quickly converted to Detroit (he is from Redford Union) as I also learned more about the games and the players....and now, my husband says I am addicted and almost know more of whats going on then he does! LOL!...... But as we are in the military....Tampa will be one of our homes in the near future. I went to visit my babe in January while he was at a school in the area and we caught three Lightning games.....I enjoyed watching them play....(Dallas, Buffalo, & Florida). I enjoyed watching St Louis & Lecavalier play. We did wear our Wings gear to the games (there were actually quite a few Wingers there) and the fans were pretty nice fans, not to mention their Saturday festivities outside the St. Pete Times forum was pretty fun for all ages......so I kinda like Tampa Bay Lightning, will probably get season tickets when we move there... (of course we will still wear our Wings gear.....even if Hudler is gone.....I'll still wear his Wings jersey....but I may have to invest in another jersey as well....just haven't figured out who yet...?????????) but will ALWAYS be a Red Wings fan...........

Nah, the loss is a loss is a loss no matter who scored on the other team....Crosby wasn't doing crap'ola''(talk about someone NOT showing up) if Talbot scored and Fleury defended....so be it....I think its funny that the Pens "STAR CAPTAIN" ALL MIGHTY PLAYER CROSBY......didn't even get to play much in Game 7...poor baby had an injury.....nothing like any of our guys....(that still played) I say the SECOND best team won and the Best team just didn't have their normal strength on their side.......Crosby shouldn't even of touched the Cup first....what the hell did he do for it?! At least our guy that wears the "C" on his shirt acts and PLAYS like a Captain.......we are the better team......and we don't have mean ass players b/c we don't really NEED them .....but it would be nice to have just one or two that could just lay someone out after they take a cheap shot on one of our guys! Sometimes it's the players you don't give much credit to that surprise you in the end! Ok Red Wings Fans I have read many posts on why people think Hudler should take a walk......but not any real good reasoning for it.... ~~~Trying to be unbaised about my love for Huds~~~~~ I would just like to know hard facts and serious opinions of WHY it would be good for the Wings to let this Center go? NO---- that's not it at all....Hudler would be great anywhere he goes, on a better line w/ out Sammy and more pay......but I love Hudler w/ the Wings, it just "fits" to me...... Being a Wings fan, I guess Im just partial to the "little gys" b/c Im a little gal....and while I was always told I couldn't do things b/c of my size I tried my damned hardest to prove people wrong, and I think Hudler has done just that! I think he has EARNED a spot on the Wings roster.....yes w/ Hossa's regular season he was great, not terrible in the playoffs, but has he EARNED a Wings roster spot....has Leino EARNED a Wings roster spot......I understand it is business and it comes down to the whole cap discussion...... Yes Hudler gets man handled a lot, but I think for his size he takes it better than some of the bigger guys....again the hit by Brown.....some players (and Im not pointing at anyone or even the Wings team....) but some may have not went back to the game shortly following a split open head and being pummeled to the ice.....but Huds did......I think w/ Huds on a line w/ Franzen would be sweet! I think it would give Huds ability to prove that he has it in him (which I think he's already done that).........I say give him a 1 year (if possible) at about $1.9.. he'd take it........ then see what happens this time next year...... Loose: Cheli-Sammy for sure.....I agree that I don't think Hossa will sign for around $4.....but who knows....?!?

I have been trying to figure out why people have continued to say Leino over Hudler, and those stats there are just more reason for others to think on that situation.......I believe Hudler is just coming into his prime at 25.....with one cup behind him and being in more than one SCF playoff series....he has the experience....people normally get better the older they get (at this age...Im not talking in their lat 30's early 40's)...better skating skills and puck handeling......and it wouldn't be that hard for him to hit the gym and "bulk up" ...lol...their are a few out there that are 5'10/5'11....just b/c Leino is bigger....doesn't make him better.......

If you read through, comping Hudler isn't as easy as it sounds......... #8 in points on the Wings for the playoffs --Leino had 7 games in the playoffs 7 shots and 0 goals..... is he ready to replace Hudler??? Im not sold on the idea, less money maybe....but that isn't a good enough reason I think.....

Besides Hossa's size, speed, and physical play....they were really close in the playoffs Hossa 23 GP 6G 9A 15P--- 5 10PIM 2PP 1GW only 6% shooting percent Hudler 23 GP 4G 8A 12P--- 4 6PIM 2PP 1GW 11.1% shooting percent The regular season stats are obviously in Hossa's favor, (except for shooting percentage) but Hossa also had 63PIM....63! That is too many for one player (IMO), and we all know that our power play kills were not all that hot in the playoffs...... While Hossa is ranked 5th over all for goals scored ...Hudler beats him in Assists over all and for forwards yes Hudler only shot 36 times in the playoffs, but I would think that a player such as Hossa, shooting 100 times, should make more than 6 goals......Hudler is smart enough to know that if he can't make the shot, he gets rid of it....unlike some others that just hold on to it, skate around in circles and shoot wheather they actually have a shot or not, instead of passing to someone that does.....Yes, the Wings need the big physical players, but you also have to have a couple of the smart players who aren't all "superstarred" out as well....it provides balance. I have nothing against Hossa, Id love to have them both........but assists matter -- without having players being able to pass the puck without major turnovers, there would be a lot of goals not scored. Not all our superstar players can do breakaways......we need playmakers as well as scorers...(IMO)

can we do it without trading Cleary....(not that I think the Wings would do that)....but seeing as how my hubby is the Cleary fan and Im the Huds fan.....that wouldn't be a good day in our house! LOL!... But except for Cleary, I like your ideas....I really like the first two sets of lines you come up with, but I dont see the Wings putting Cleary on the 3rd line......and I agree that if they have Hudler on the 3/4 lines, then he should find somewhere where they will give him at least the 2nd line....although.....I want to see him on the Wings at least for the next year! I know he could get more from another team....but I think he'd take just a small bump in pay to stay with the Wings and get another year from them and see what happens this time next year......

- this is not a good enough answer for me......there have been better reasonings on this thread that have shed a little light on the situation and I am understanding it a bit more......I still don't want to see him go though.....he belongs with the Wings..... and I just wish people would stop saying 'Sammy & Huds"...they're not a couple...I think in the begining they were good together....but during the playoffs, I honestly think Sammy brought Huds down and it always seemed that Huds was scoring when he was on the ice w/ Z...(that may have been PP goals...but Im not going to go look through every game right now to find out for sure)...i could care less if Sammy goes.....I don't think he brings much to the table.....but then again, a lot of people don't think Huds beings a lot to the table....but he is a RFA.....sooooo that does make a difference when looking at things doesn't it....????

I appreciate ALL the responses to the thread......and it makes more sense. I am not one that "knows all and everything about hockey..." so that is why I asked the question.... Although I do DISAGREE w/ the comment that Hudler can't take a hit.....can I say Mike Brown..... ...and he played after that...
