    Tired of the Hawks?

Just for the bloody hell of it, I would like to point out that the Conference clinching goal was scored with an assist from no other than a certain guy named Lebda...you know, the loser that can't play hockey and is now Toronto's problem? The guy that stepped in during the 2009 playoffs when our defense was depleted by injuries and just played basic hockey and helped the team make the Finals? You know, that chump....just sayin...
  2. I would still follow the playoffs, although I would be bitter, angry, and cynical and would be most likely cheering for the teams I don't like to fail. (Chicago, Pittsburgh) I wouldn't go out of my way to watch any games (no staying up to catch West Coast games) and I actually probably wouldn't start watching a series until it got to an elimination-game stage. Thats what I did in '06.

Phantom calls back in the league

Its not always about blaming the refs, its about being frustrated that calls get missed and become a major factor in the game. It just comes down to that if you are going to be a champion, you have to outplay the opposing team and the refs poor calls. I'm not a tin-foil hat guy, just a guy who wishes that refs were less human and had robot-like analytical abilities...

    Officials for tonights game

O'Halloran has killed us in the past, but last year I actually found myself hoping to see him officiating the big games. He is at least consistent and in my opinion has developed into one of the fairer playoff refs...at least you know what he's going to call and when he's going to call it, unlike a lot of the ******-crew refs out there.

    McCarty on Vs....what happened?

sorry if I sound like a nancy-boy about this, but Mac is kind of a hero of mine because I know what its like to deal with addiction issues in life. I want him to be okay, because I can (somewhat) relate to what he deals with and, yes, when something like that happens unexpectedly I worry that something bad is going on, because I have been there. And yes, I am more focused on the Wings winning tonight, I just watched VS to kill time before the game, was just curious and nervous...
  6. I was watching Pitt and Ottawa on VS and I was looking forward to hearing Darren McCarty with the VS guys after the first period. They teased it, promised us DMac's commentary...and then when they cut to the intermission commentary, the announcers were laughing and joking about McCarty not being available and sending him to the penalty box. Any idea what happened? I love Mac and want the best for him and my worst nightmare would be that he showed up drunk to work and they wouldn't let him on air. Anybody hear any more on this?

He wasn't that drunk. I feel bad for the guy. Those field sobriety tests are a joke...I can't pass them when I am sober, and I bet a lot of the holier than thou crowd couldn't either. Christ, most elderly people, people who have physical disabilities, are sick and are on any kind of over the counter medication or are just plain tired couldn't pass those field sobriety tests either. How about tossing them in jail too? Anybody who drinks at all has driven drunk (drunk being defined as over the ridiculously low .08 limit). The cops had the option of giving him a one block ride home and instead chose to raise revenue for their municipality.

... born and raised in SOUTH DETROIT!

Yeah, what he said! It always drives me a little nuts to hear them say "South Detroit", when you would never, ever hear a local refer to it that way! Maybe I'm just a purist. When I am singing along with the song on the radio I always sing "Born and raised in Oakland County"! Doesn't fit as well, but a little more accurate. Still, I do like the tune.

    Conditioning

    Yes!!! That!!!
  11. I hope I am not beating a dead horse here, but yes, you will need to rent a car because there is no such thing as public transportation in Metro Detroit. I know how much it sucks to be visiting from a different city and not know the area and try to drive around in it, especially if you are trying to impress a chick, but there is really no way around this issue...just buy some maps, check out google maps and stuff, if you get a chance, do some recon before you actually have to be somewhere...you are a New Yorker, so you should be able to handle Detroit drivers, just remember to be street smart! Don't wave that finger unless you can back it up! I am from the northern burbs, and I have to agree with NIC's post in pretty much every aspect. If you guys are young and hip, or even middle-aged and hip, spend an evening in Royal Oak, nice downtown and lots of bars and night spots, and laid-back, cool people. Mr. B's is a really cool place. Like I said, I am from the northern burbs (Waterford)...you asked about places to stay away from, and I feel it necessary to give my opinion...I don't hang around downtown. Some posters have said Greektown is safe and fun at night, and I agree with them. However, I can not recommend anywhere downtown as a safe night spot. If you want to walk around at night, I recommend Royal Oak...its a straight, short shot up Woodward Avenue from downtown Detroit. I love Detroit and everything, but lets remember that during the Final Four this year the mayor of Indianapolis got mugged right outside Ford Field.

    Leave Brad Staurt alone

I am so pissed at Brad Stuart for the game he played last night, but really, no Stuart and the Wings don't even make the finals.....
