This. I can honestly say that even if we lose tonight I am still happy with this season and really proud of the way the team responded after all the crazy things that happened this year. Considering that halfway through the year there were threads all over this site saying the wings had no chance of making the playoffs I think we should all be very happy that they not only made it but got through the first round. Yes I am still nervous but thinking about it from that perspective helps.

Going into this series I had no idea what to think. I thought either the wings could win quick or win a long series or the sharks could win quick or in a long series. Obviously the wings winning quick has been eliminated but I could still see any of the other three happening.

You are right you can not defend his actions but stupid lapses in judgement like that happen all the time and its just extremely unfortunate that it resulted in such a severe injury. Look at Yandle tripping Zetterberg, Yandle didn't attempt to hurt him but if Z had fallen differently he could have broken his neck when he hit the boards. Look at Shea Weber, he punches people in the back of the head all the time, every time he does that he could end someone's career. Comparison on a lesser scale: Ovechkin's hit vs Hossa's hit. Basically the same thing but Campbell got seriously hurt. Does that mean Ovechkin is a horrible person and Hossa isn't? I don't think so.

I think if we steal a game early in San Jose that would be huge. I can see home games being big for the wings in this series because if we can get the match-ups we want that will bode well for us (I am assuming that would be Datsyuk/Franzen against Thornton and Zetterberg/Filpulla against Pavelski/Set). If however the Sharks are able to consistently get Thornton's line out against Helm's line we might be in trouble, I love Helm and Eaves but they would be at such a size and strength disadvantage. I am not going to make a prediction I am just going to hope for the best. GO WINGS!!
