Top 10 Goon moments of the past decade

Chris Simons two hander on Hollweg is the biggest embellishment on this list. I can think of another 10 incidents that are worse then that. I'll admit, it was a nasty ass thing to do, and the intent was savage, but if you watch the video, he hit Hollweg square in the upper chest, just under the neck and his stick rises up and clips his chin, giving him a minor scrape. Because of Simon's history, he got a lengthy suspension, and deservedly so - but the impact of the play was not nearly as bad as the other nine on that list. Terrible #2 pick.

    Re-naming NHL Trophies

But they are already named after people...this makes no sense whatsoever. They are just renaming them to players who won them several times over the last half century. I am only down if they change the name of the Stanley Cup to the Detroit Red Wings Championship Cup. As long as they are going with a theme....im just sayin'.

    2010 Olympic jerseys

Lol, the Flames should adopt China's jersey layout and colour scheme. Its Calgarys retro colours with the bizarre 'new age' vertical stripes.

12/3 GDT: Oilers 4 at Red Wings 1

Datsyuk has been pretty average all year - granted he doesn't have much to work with, but the last two games I have barely noticed him on the ice. I know he can and WILL play better, he just looks tired and uninterested.

    Wings RBK Jersey from China

I'd say the jerseys have averaged around 45 bucks for me. The most expensive i've got was $52, and the cheapest was the chelios jersey at 35, which turned out to be the best one of the lot.

    Wings RBK Jersey from China

In total as of today I have ordered 1 jersey from lightinthebox and 7 jerseys from dhgate. Anyone else have the problem that most of the jerseys you order are WAY bigger then you anticipate? All but 1 from dhgate seem to have sizing issues. I order a size 50 which according to NHL.com is around a size Medium (granted dhgate says thats large, but whatever im somewhere in between anyways) and the majority of them come to me saying 'L' or '50' on the label, and they fit more like an XL or XXL. Im starting to think there isnt much you can do other then finding out what seller goes by what sizes. Like i said, i got a Chelios one that said size 50 and it fit PERFECTLY like a medium, but my Zetterberg size 50 is clearly an XXL. As far as dhgate goes, I suggest finding a seller with a large diverse stock, ordering 1 jersey, and stick with that seller for the rest of your purchases. Its really the luck of the draw. The guy whose jersey fit me best goes by ronawang1981 on dhgate, but he doesnt have much stock for Wings jerseys ATM.

No, the NHL is America's league right now. The sport of hockey is Canada's game.

    Wings RBK Jersey from China

If you want to talk about a RBK Jersey from China that you purchased like the rest of us, then go ahead. If you want to talk about how much you hate immigrants who take your jobs or how you hate Obama, there is a political forum for that.

This is useless folks, he just doesn't get it because his definition of "the greatest hockey country in the world' doesn't make sense to begin with.

You answered this yourself many times already. Because the USA has a higher population, thus making it more attractive for NHL teams. You are right, more and more players are developing in other countries and then playing on teams all over the world, many of which are in the United States - But, that does not mean Canada is 'losing its grip'. While the sport is becoming popular in other countries, it still remains the most important sport in Canada, and everyone knows its Canada's game. Look at the responses thus far to your question. The responses are nearly unanimous, and they aren't just answers from Canadians. Just because the sport is growing doesn't mean Canada is losing its grip on the sport.

I get it, you think because the US is much larger then Canada, they should be considered the #1 hockey nation (whatever that means). If the USA dropped hockey, only one thing is certain - the NHL would cease to exist as we know it. Canadians would still play and watch Jr hockey religiously because that's what Canadians do. American's? I'm not so sure the same could be said. Seriously, take a drive down the Trans-Canada Hwy. Every other town's welcome sign is a claim to the birthplace of an NHL player. Hockey is to Canada what Baseball is to the United States. Think of it that way, no one - no matter if the major league of that sport were played partly in another country - would claim that Baseball was not America's sport/pastime. Same goes for Hockey in Canada.

So are you trying to argue that the US is a better hockey country because it has more people? I took your question as asking which country pays attention, knows more, and cares more about hockey. I think most people did. Winnipeg, Hamilton, Quebec, and Regina could all produce sell-out crowds, but because they are 'small market', they wouldn't last in the NHL. Miami seems pretty big market to me, and their team is doing terribly. Maybe if you talk about actual numbers of hockey fans in the states you could say that number is higher then in Canada, but if you look at the percentage of people in each country that play or watch hockey, Canada's would be far, far, far higher. Canadian players make up more then half of all NHLers. Also, take a look at this - the Number of registered hockey players by country. Though not conclusive as it doesn't give you the total number of people in each country playing hockey (no doubt that Canada would still be highest), it does provide some evidence. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_hockey#Nu...yers_by_country

The answer to your question is simple - its Canada. Anyone who questions that is not paying attention. Look at what Gary Bettman has done; basically proven that American's don't give a tinkers cuss about hockey. Of course there are a handful of well established Hockey markets that have been around for a while, but look at the southern and western States. To most (NOT ALL) Hockey is a second rate sport to Football, Basketball, and Baseball. You ask a Canadian what the most important sport here is? Hockey. Here is an attendance chart for the NHL - obviously has no bearing on our friends over in Europe, but if the debate is between Canada and USA, it matters that every Canadian franchise has a sellout percentage of at least 100% http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/attendance?s...t&year=2009 While I'm positive hockey is growing in some markets in the USA, at this point id still say people in Russia and Sweden are more into it. Oh, and before you say "BUT HEY CHICAGO IS #1" take a look at the sellout percentages for the last 4 years. While the American cities change dramatically depending on the caliber of their team, all 6 Canadian teams remain 100% sold out.

    Shocking news about Datsyuk..

What the hell is going on here. First, you scare the s*** out of everyone with that title, then you proceed to defend Datsyuk like you guys are frickin' related, and then claim your credibility by saying you have been around longer then everyone. Settle down, the guys not producing and people are starting to worry. Its happened to every Red Wing. We all still love Pavel, and deep down we know he will still finish with 80+ points.

    Help Me out

I am about 6'1 160lbs and I wear either a Medium or Large replica jersey. The new reebok edge ones seem to fit me better in medium, but I have an old CCM one from 1991 that claims its large, yet fits like a modern medium. If you are buying numbered sizes (48, 50, 52, etc) take a look at the NHL.com sizing chart, it has measurements and regular equivalents to give you an idea on the sizing. 50 is right for me, depending on if I am just wearing it with a hoodie underneath, or actually putting it over pads. http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?prod...dy_bestsell_txt youll find it there under the "Select Your Size" tab. Edit - best thing to do, even if you are buying online,is to go to a local store (though in Ireland that may be difficult) and try on the sizes. Its hard to compare to soccer shirts, just cause I personally like my soccer jerseys to fit like a t-shirt does, whereas hockey jerseys look funny if they fit like a regular shirt. Oh, and if you are ordering one of these rip off jerseys from China, size 50 to them is XXL for some reason...its very strange every jersey ive order size 50, its been way way too big.

    Remember this Hit?

Shoulder to head, much like Richards shoulder to the head of Booth earlier this season. A definite blindside, but not against the rules i guess. What happens at the end of the video always makes me chuckle.

Then next time you buy Wings tickets...

You think thats crazy? Check out the Coyote's ticket prices - $355 for Gold Seats. Thats more then the best ticket here in Edmonton in a 16,000 seat stadium. No wonder they have no attendance.
