What size rink are they using during these Olympics?

Yeah I think it was. I thought it was 2002 that it was NHL sized.

Wings Will Face a Huge Test Over Next 2 Weeks

Oh. My. God. Don't even start with this. Look first off, I respect hockey players and pro athletes. They work hard, travel a lot, and generally have to deal with a boat load of fan and media attention - but give me a break. These guys gets millions of dollars. We NEVER hear about players complaining because they all know they have absolutely NOTHING to complain about. They PLAY for a living. They fly on chartered flights, they stay in nice hotels, and they are fed team meals. Only an ignoramus would argue that Hockey players have it tough, especially compared to your average blue collar fan, who works 40+ hours a week to put food on the table. As for the topic? Yeah its a tough ride and they may get tired, but at the same time it may really get them going. The majority of those teams aren't very good either. Calgary will be a test, but the Red Wings are capable of beating every team on that list.

    Ericsson vs Perry (sort of)

This calls for a replay of an old favourite!

    Afinigenov

Afinogenov is one of the streakiest players in the league. I don't like that guys game at all, he is offense first and always struck me as a hot head. Prospal, on the other hand, would have been a nice addition.

    Cleary- Dan, Danny, or Daniel?!

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the roses falling 'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow 'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

Glencross Suspended 3 Games for Hit

Title says it all, here it the hit. When I was watching this Saturday night on CBC I immediatly thought it was a filthy play by Glencross. Its not the biggest of hits but definitely interference and definitely a shot to the head (whether thats legal or not). P.S. When you watch the clip, listen to Kevin Weekes' comments. You guys ever remember Drury playing tough or physical? Or with a real chip on his shoulder? Please, I have always remembered the guy for being a bit of a *****. Don't know who Kevin is thinking about there....

    Wings RBK Jersey from China

From Lightinthebox? Really? I ordered my Zetterberg one back in April and it was awful. There are pictures a page or two back.

    Wings RBK Jersey from China

lightinthebox jerseys SUCK. My zetterberg jersey was so disappointing. I order from dhgate. Aside from some of the sellers having different ideas of what american sizes are, its pretty good. I just got a Team Canada Luongo and a Oilers 3rd jersey Souray that look GREAT.

    Team Canada

I like what Marleau has done this season, but his has been invisible in every big game experience I have ever seen him in. I tried to avoid those kinds of players on my roster. Kind of why I left out Thornton too. But then again, who know what they will, or would have done this time around.

    Team Canada

Yeah, it was really tough to leave him off because of his stats, but I think you've got to either have the Getlaf - Perry connection, or the Thornton - Heatley connection, bot not both. I like what Perry and Getzlaf have done internationally better then what Ive seen out of Thornton. Because of his stats though, its tough. No matter what, 3 or 4 really good players are going to be left off the team.

    HHOF tonight

Great speech by Yzerman. Very humble and thankful, as always. What a Legend.

    Team Canada

You took Boyle off and put Weber on instead? Boyle is playing really well right now. He is on my Team Canada for sure. Here is mine, for what its worth. So difficult to chose who doesn't make the team, so I just went with my gut, and who I think can perform when it counts. Nash - Crosby - Iginla Perry - Getzlaf - Heatley Morrow - Richards - Doan Smyth - Toews - St. Louis Carter - Lecavalier (Had a real tough time leaving E Staal off, but he has something like 5 pts this season) Pronger - Niedermayer Boyle - Bouwmeester Keith - Weber Phaneuf Brodeur Luongo Fleury I see we agree on the Morrow Richards Doan line. Thats a killer shutdown line who can also score some goals.

    The better HHOF class?

07 guys have more cups, but I'd take the 09 guys on my team first.

    Eaves to Miss Tonight's Game

I really don't think so either. That eye injury was only a week ago. No way he risks taking a fist to the face tonight.

    Bertuzzi, Lilja

He has been OKAY. I'd like him to start hitting the net, and not committing so many giveaways in the defensive zone. He had 2 or 3 last night.

Neil flattens Hedman - then Fights Downie

Yeah but Kronwall and Stuart have never been, and never will be legitimate fighters. During his first two seasons Phaneuf dropped the gloves quite a few times, now he literally skates away and hides behind his teammates, even though he is capable of standing up for himself.

Tomas Kopecky, The Next Tomas Holmstrom?

I wonder what its like for Kopecky to have a best friend that is so much better at everything then him. I never understood the relationship between Hossa and Kopecky, they are 1 number off, they wear their socks the same, their jersey the same, their pants the same, they go to the same team, and you can tell Kopecky tries to play like Hossa, he just has no skill. Its all very strange.

Maple Leafs in trouble with Ontario health ministry

There is no proof that athletes are getting hit harder by H1N1. Just because you hear about it everytime a player gets it, doesn't mean they are getting it more then anyone else. People who are high risk are small children, the elderly, and people with preexisting medical problems, NOT athletes, who have private medical care available to them AT ANY TIME through their organization should they become injured or in this case, ill. The bolded statement is just comical, and actually pathetic. "Only involves going to work" as if to somehow say NHLers and pro athletes have it harder then the general public. HAH, lets see - they fly on private chartered planes, they have private team meals, and private transportation to their games when traveling. The only place they are vulnerable is at the rink - just like every spectator who attends, who - as you say - may have gone to the grocery store (public place), gone to the movies (public place), or a restaurant (public place). Who knows they probably took public transportation to get to the venue and been exposed to the virus! Its looks pretty clear to me that a regular Joe is exposed to more potential virus carriers then Jarome Iginla. Granted, players come in closer contact with other players, but that alone should not give them precedence over high risk groups, and by no means should their families get to jump the queue, as was that case with the Flames. I am not against pro athletes getting their shots, but they should get them when its their turn, after people who may actually die from the virus get their vaccine.

Neil flattens Hedman - then Fights Downie

I don't mind anything about that play - I even like that Downie fought Neil after, shows Hedman that his teammates know his value and will stick up for him when he gets hammered. Good for Neil for actually dropping them too, I absolutely hate when guys who have a rep for fighting and being tough flatten someone and then don't scrap. Example - Dion Phaneuf - the kid used to be tough, but now he lays people out and runs away.

Maple Leafs in trouble with Ontario health ministry

This post makes no sense. You think people have ground to sue an NHL team for going to see them and potentially catching a virus from a player on the ice? Yeah..that would stand up

Maple Leafs in trouble with Ontario health ministry

The Flames thing has been a huge deal here in Alberta. There has been a ton of demand for the vaccine (obviously) and the whole Flames organization ALONG with their families were permitted to go to a private clinic and get vaccinated while people in high risk groups were left waiting in line for 4 - 6 hour lines, many of whom didn't receive a shot after all due to the shortage. That seems fair to you guys?

    OHL Hit

Yeah sorry mate I shouldn't have singled you out - it wasn't intended towards you - it was the sentiment of that post and the feeling in the thread in general.

    James Wizniewski Suspended

I agree - though it looks to me like more of a forearm shiver to the face. Wizniewski lunged at him with his arms up - not a clean hockey hit, in fact I don't recall seeing such an awkward looking hit in a long time. These hit threads are getting comical. There are always the group that say its dirty, and always the group - no matter how savage of a head shot it is, claim its a good hockey hit. Just make headshots illegal already so we can stop talking about it.

    OHL Hit

Wow, tough love here on LGW. The truth is though, as it always is - if this happened to a Wings player, you would all be calling for a year long suspension. Since its not, you guys all fall into the 'tough old time hockey guy mode' and call it a clean hit, and of course it was Fanelli's fault for putting himself in that position. It was CLEARLY boarding, hitting from behind, AND a head shot, not to mention he took about 5 strides from the blue line to make that hit. The kids skull is fractured, broken orbital bone, and a huge facial laceration. The kid may never play again, let alone want to play again. Liambus said himself that he was shaken up by the hit, and he shouldn't have done it. Fanelli's mother and father were in the stands watching the game. Went Fanelli got hit, his mother fainted and had to be revived by paramedics.
