I find TSN's description of the game a little annoying. "The Detroit Red Wings got some breaks and made some, too. Kris Draper's tiebreaking goal went off an opponent, Nick Lidstrom scored when one of his teammates could've been called for a penalty and Detroit beat the Nashville Predators 4-2 Saturday to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round series." Don't give the Wings any credit or anything.

That goal is KARMA for Zanon for taunting Hasek with his "5 hole, 5 hole" bulls***. Did he think no one has ever taunted Hasek before? What a f*cking loser and a joke of a defenseman. Great goal - back breaker for the Preds. Their whole team is a joke. Losers. Sorry, I am worked up.

Anyone else just catch that Big Ship, Little Ship, spiel from McGuire on TSN pertaining to the Boogard hit on Liles. AHAHAHAHAHAH -
BAHAHAHAHAHAH - that guy is a complete tool, and even his own board knows it. At least they have the sense to realize that guy is brain dead. "[Lidstrom] ABSOLUTELY lacks the genius and creativity of a Zubov and lacks the tenacity and perseverance of a Niedermayer" genius of Zubov? PERSEVERANCE of Niedermayer? I almost want to register there to tell this guy what perseverance means; 1. steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state, etc., esp. in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement. 2. Theology. continuance in a state of grace to the end, leading to eternal salvation. Didn't Niedermayer miss 2/3 of the year because he was not sure if he had the desire to play anymore?

We have a little Red Sox club here! Halloween a couple years ago...what better excuse to wear my childrens XL 3/4 length baseball pants to the bar.

CBC used to play this song for the first game of every playoff season, and when I was a kid I LIVED to hear it. It always got me so into the playoffs. Unfortunately they stopped playing it after 1999 I think. Probably 'cause it sounds pretty 90s. Here is a video of their tribute to the the 98 Wings with the song. Anyone else remember it??

Look, I am going to try and look at this as objectively as I possibly can...which may not be that objective, but there is NO way that hit is suspendable. Kronwall got a penalty for elbowing, and it could have been 2 mins for charging, but thats all it deserved. I can't really even believe there is a thread for this. I've seen worse hits go unpenalized.

All people who are pissed with TSN, please email your complaints during the intermission to audiencerelations@tsn.ca <audiencerelations@tsn.ca> i dont want them to hear the end of this. Golf over playoff hockey in CANADA? They must have their heads up their asses

I would just like to express my disgust with the usually reliable TSN. They choose to play round 1 of the Masters instead of the Wings game, even though they advertised the game all day, and its listed on their webpage. BULLs***.

I thought you worked all those money issues out when you were rallying to get Hossa and sign here long term. Or was that someone else? Isn't the cap going up next year anyways? Still, I get that some people have a love affair with Federov because he played here and he is a sentimental pick. But if you guys want to get the dream team back together, why wouldn't you guys make a thread for Shanahan? He's still the better player at this point and he is only a year older. There is a good handful of young players out there after this season who will sign longer term deals that will still leave room for Zetterberg. Federov coming back here does not make that much sense to me, if you are going to get a guy who scores 40 pts a year, at least get him young. edit: sp

Unless Federov comes back here for 1 million dollars, Holland won't sign him. Way throw money at a guy who is going to be playing for a very limited time and is a shadow of his former self when you can make a pitch for a younger guy long term. I liked him when he played here, and I have nothing against the guy personally at all - but compared to some other UFA's, Federov won't help this team much.

Does the Tigers poor start affect the Red Wings?
Yzerfan1999 replied to timothy1997's topic in General
No, I got what you meant - I just didn't answer very well. Sorry. I guess its hard for me to say because I don't live in or around Detroit, but you would assume thats what would normally happen wouldn't you? It seems like more attention would be on the playoff team rather then a team with 155 games left to play. Sure opening day is sweet, but by 2 weeks into the baseball season...I would pick playoff hockey over spring ball any day. So saying that, I would assume the Wings are used to the spotlight. Therefore, not making much of a difference in their play. Do the Tigers normally carry more attention than the Wings during Hockey playoffs? I guess I am not the one to be responding. -

Nah, I doubt the Wings players give two s***s about the Tigers at this point. They've been to the playoffs before, they can deal with almost any kind of stress. I think the last thing they are thinking about is baseball. -
No way the Rangers should be in the top 5 ahead of Montreal. I don't know what more evidence you need to put Montreal in the top 5 other then the fact they won the East with 7 more points then the Rags. Montreal's position in the top 5 is well deserved. But then again, what do power rankings mean anyways. They are useless.

Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Franzen Cleary-Filppula-Holmstrom Drake-Draper-McCarty Abdelkader-Hartigan-Hudler Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Chelios-Lilja Osgood Hasek Nice to have Downey's toughness, but I am sorry - he can barely keep up in the regular season, I don't think he will be able to play much in the playoffs.
-
I was really impressed with Dats this season. At first I thought he might be in for a rough year, but he became really consistent and was great down the stretch, especially during that period when most players go into their mid-season lulls, he really picked it up. Congrats Dats! Career high in goals, assists, points, and +/-. AND, he managed to stay healthy ALL year! I also want to give a shout out to Zetterberg too. Career highs for him as well with 92 pts. If he didn't have those back problems, I am confident he would have hit 100. Maybe next year. We have two of the premier players in the league!
-
It looks glorious! I think you just provided 20+ people with a new background. Very Nice!
-
Those better not be the lines. I would be pretty s***ty if the Wings played some of their top guys and they got injured. I say let the kids play, leave the big kids out to rest up.
-
Winner! I heard someone call him Abrakadabra a couple of months ago, and I loved it.
-
How long do you think we have until the Predator fans start signing up?
-
Look how the brackets stand as of right now. The East is shaping up to have some GREAT series. I know there will be some movement yet, but imagine if the playoffs started today: (1) Pittsburgh vs. (8) Washingston (2) Montreal vs. (7) Boston (3) Carolina vs. (6) Ottawa (4) New Jersey vs. (5) New York What do you think of that? We can only hope at this point.
-
Yeah last nights Philly/Pens game was unreal. That would make for one heck of a series. I am good either way. P.S. I hate Scott Hartnell.
-
Now that first place is locked up who is sitting Saturday? Hank, Pavel, Lids, Raffi, Hasek?
-
I am going to wait and see if he can score in the playoffs before I add him to my list.
-
Who cares, the Wings will thrash anyone they play in the first round. This is the first year in a long time that I am actually confident of that.
