They will be able to free up salary via dropping Skyora and Sydor to sign Malkin. Besides, they are already 10million under the cap right now, although Sid's contract hasn't kicked in yet... Still - Kypreos is insane if he thinks that Pitty will let him go.

God, all these guys coming back is going to feel like the greatest trade deadline acquisition ever! It seems like the Wings have been hurting for so long already - can't wait till they are at 100% again. And then Cleary at the start of the playoffs? I bet the comeback of these players gives the Wings a HUGE boost going into the late season/post season.

I don't give any credit to Brian Burke for Anaheim's success. The Duck's winning ways and ridiculously good looking future is thanks to the Edmonton Oilers and Kevin Lowe.

Oh god no, not Hal Gill. The Leafs are probably doing this to make someone else swallow the salary. The guy is useless and does not use his size effectively.

ALways be a Wings fan but I have a soft spot for my hometown Oilers and I've always liked Montreal. But don't get me wrong, they turn into enemies as soon as they play each other. -

I guess if you consider averaging 55 points a season as 'flourishing', when he averaged 75 the 3 years prior to coming to Detroit - but thats besides the point. If Hossa can be had for Hudler and Sammy AND re-signed before the deadline, pull the trigger - but what are the odds?

Don't get me wrong, Hossa would be nice. But I am just not convinced we should give up a whole lot for a guy who has only proven that he can't score in the playoffs. Filpulla is too much to give up IMO, and I bet DW gets better offers than Sammy and Hudler.

And we all know how great regular season success is, and how it translates into playoff TEAM success? not. And every million you hand over to Hossa long term takes away from Zetterberg being re-signed, unless they can balance the contract after Lidstrom leaves.

A rental for the playoffs with 13 goals in 55 games is not worth Fillpula. For some reason I am really against this move - its going to cost too much and I really don't think Hossa is the key to playoff success.

Who cares...they are Power Rankings, not the NHL Standings, where we still sit 16 points up on them with a game in hand. Besides we all know a description involving the word 'class' is ridiculous when talking about team with guys like Pronger and Parros.

I'd say no to both the Z and D deals, simply because I like them both. Lec. and Iggy may be better players, but Z and D are still great and form the nucleus of the team. I'd keep em for sentimental reasons.

I wasn't too hot on this guy either. Surprised it only took a 3rd rounder though.

Good point - I would throw him in a package in a second..maybe sweeten the pot a bit. Don't tell anyone - but I don't think he is going to live up to potential...at all.
