Oh common, Cheveldae was a saint! He should have won at least 3 Vezina's in his career.
-
I'd take Marleau for Hudler, Sammy, and a pick - that guy is too talented for the kind of season he is having, he needs out of San Jose.

Uhg, this deadline is making me nervous. I really don't want to see Holland give up a lot of the Wings future for rentals. At least give yourself a chance and get Stoll (RFA) or Vermette (RFA). Defense is other issue. Not a great deal of good d-men up there that wouldn't cost the farm and aren't UFA's - thats where I think Kenny will have to bite the bullet. To Edmonton: Sammy, 1st round pick To Detroit: Jared Stoll To Columbus: Meech, Conditional Picks - depending on how far the Wings make it into the playoffs To Detroit: Adam Foote Plausible? Edit: To Nashville: Brad Ference To Detroit: Martin Gelinas Ok, I know thats not plausible - but I'd like to see the Wings snag him for some playoff depth - playoff success follows this guy around.

God, it would be great if he evolved into a Lunquist/Luongo type.

Roloson echoes that sentiment. "I think it's a great way to grow (hockey-related revenue). They have (uniform ads) in Europe and it doesn't take away from the true jersey look. Is he blind? There are so many ads on those European Jerseys its hard to concentrate. I can't even tell the difference between the logo and the advertisements on some of them. This just seems like a really weird - and f*cking stupid - idea.

Okay, so I often check out TSN.ca's power rankings for baseball and hockey, and today I was looking at the NBA rankings. I don't know much about basketball, nor do I care to follow the NBA very closely - but I do know that the Celtics are having an amazing year. Explain to me why they are #11, with a record of 41-9? http://www.tsn.ca/nba/feature/?fid=2864&hubname= These ranking systems all seem completely subjective.

Oh okay - I was not aware that the East was a weaker conference. It makes more sense now.

I dont know if I would give him the number 1 role next year - you never want to break a goalie to early - M A Fleury... I would see if he can handle split duties with Osgood.

interesting time to create this thread...trying to lift our spirits?

My new playoff dream Roster Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom Cleary, Stoll, Franzen Kopecky, Filpulla, Hudler Maltby, Draper, Drake Lidstrom, Rafalski Lebda, Kronwall, Foote, Lilja Chelios Kenny can work out the deals, but I'd love to see Stoll here..or even Antione Vermette - those two guys are younger, more skilled versions of Draper like players with more offensive upside.

With all the trade talks and rumors about Hossa, Sundin, Dumont, Blake, etc., what do you want the Wings roster to look like heading into the playoffs, and why? Holmstrom, Datsyuk, Filpulla Zetterberg, Forsberg, Cleary Dumont, Hudler, Franzen Maltby, Draper, Drake Downey Lidstrom, Rafalski Kronwall, Lilja Lebda, Chelios Quincey Hasek Osgood -This means the Wings would work out a contract for Forsberg, and trade Sammuelson, Meech and a pick if necessary to Nashville for Dumont. I know people hate Forsberg, but adding him with no loss of current line-up players would be a huge advantage (If, of course he is able to even play...). A deal for Dumont would likely be harder to work out then I have made it - but I like the way the guy plays and he has pretty good playoff numbers. Then again, this makes our back end look a little weak after Lids and Rafalski. Any solutions?
-
We just need Kronwall, Rafalski, and Hasek back, plain and simple. Oh, and Cleary wouldn't hurt either. ...and maybe Mats Sundin,Jared Stoll and Adam Foote.

On the topic of playoff performers - this is why it baffles me that people are so hot on getting Marion Hossa at the deadline, 13 goals in 55 playoff games? Ouch.
-
Great game - and I why shouldn't they take losing poorly? This is the NHL, not dodgeball during school recess. My admiration for Sam Ganger went through the roof when he took on Kesler. Good to see a game like that every once in a while!
-
This is why I think the Wings would benefit from getting Stoll, Vermette, or Blake at the deadline... Although on Satellite Hotstove last night, Al Strachan claimed that Blake had stated he did not want to leave, and if he did - get this - he wanted to go to Anaheim . f***.

I dunno, I partially agree with Don on this one. I worry about the future of this team when I don't see the Canadian youth that teams like Edmonton, Philidelphia, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Ottawa. It actually just really struck me tonight. The youth on this team is not nearly as promising as many, many others. We have no Ganger, Cogliano, Letang, Vermette, Jeff Carter, Dion Phaneuf, everyone that has come up recently has been young flashy Europeans. That makes for great regular seasons and some flashy play - but obviously something on the Wings in the last 6 years hasn't worked. I can't wait till Emmerton, Quincey, and Pyett make the team for good in a couple of years. It will be nice to see some young fresh Canadian faces. I would never say Canadian players are more talented than Europeans or American's but it always seems like Canadian boys have that extra gear that some other guys don't. In Canada you are bred on hockey. Boys and even girls now a days have 9 month winters were all they do is go to the rink and dream about winning the Stanley Cup - I just don't think thats as much of a dream for many European players. It sounds cliche, but I really think passion has something to do with it, and the Canadian passion for winning the Cup has always seemed stronger then players from other countries, they grow up with that drive. What was it that Don said? the last handful of Cup teams have all had 15 or more Canadians on their team? Its a brand of hockey these guys play thats more rugged than the European style, a brand that gets them through 4 grueling rounds of playoffs. And as for the percentage of Canadian players in the league? I actually think that serves as a message to how important Hockey is to Canada, a much smaller nation then Russia or the United States - yet still produces the majority of the NHLers. Eh, just my two sense - but look at my avatar, I am biased. P.S. not looking to squabble over this issue, so don't even bother - its just my opinion. It is what it is.

Agreed, thats a long time to wait between periods. Besides, half the fans leave to go get a fresh beer and a dog between periods anyways. I bet just as many people were walking around the concourse between periods as before the game.

After tonight, call him up!

Maybe I am just frustrated but; The Wings could not give Lilja away after tonights performance, and can someone tell Downey to get a ******* helmet that fits?
-
Cool, if all works out this weekend I will be right across the rink from you, section 114. I will let you know early next week! I'll try and think of some places you could hit up before the game for some food or drink...what area of the city are you staying in?
