Isn't it insane? How does a guy who has played 17 games get to go over players like Zidlicky, Souray, Burns, Blake, etc. Even Kronwall should be there before Niedermeyer goes. Unfair.
-
like it or not it pretty much does. Too bad for him and Pittsburgh. I feel bad for all the people in visiting cities who bought tickets hoping to see him play. Seeing Pitty play without the kid just isn't the same - this kinda stuff hurts the NHL.
-
Its nice to see them finally getting better. Its those new jerseys I tell ya'. That being said - it would be a travesty if any one of the Southwest teams get in the playoffs as the 3rd seed, while at the same time having fewer points than the 9th seed. So, because I would hate for that to happen, I am really cheering for the Caps to do well.
-
Maybe the Sharks are playing Possum, and will crush the Wings in the playoffs.
-
I think you are over-reacting a bit. Players get nagging injuries, its part of hockey. Unless Zetterbergs on-ice performance is seriously effected, its no big deal to me. After all, he played through the pain in last years playoffs and still looked pretty good. The Wings are in a position to rest him when he needs it, and hopefully deal with it in the offseason. I doubt this has serious contractual effects. Holland would be stupid not to sign him cause he has missed 30 games in the last two years with back problems, because someone else won't blink if he comes on the market. There are such things as incentive laden contracts too, if Holland is that concerned, he can include GP in the contract - like he did with Hasek. Its not like Zetterberg is Martin Havlat here, heck - he might even play tomorrow. Lets just see how this pans out.
-
Damn, why hasnt anyone thought about that option before? JK, but seriously. I am all for it if he can effectively play - he will come at no loss of current players. P.S. can you believe how much Nashville gave up for him? Parent, Hartnell (*******) and Scottie Upshall. They got HOSED.

Anaheim - Selanne Atlanta - White Boston - Chara Buffalo - Campbell Carolina - Staal (sidenote, I have a burning hatred of Erik Cole, possible idea for a new thread? Hated players from each team?) Calgary - I hate 'em all Chicago - Toews Columbus - Nash Colorado - Smyth Dallas - Morrow Detroit - Zetterberg Edmonton - Gagner Florida - Horton Los Angelas - Blake Minnesota - Burns Montreal - Dandenault Nashville - Arnott New Jersey - Brodeur NY Islanders - Bergeron NY Rangers - Shanahan Ottawa - Vermette Philadelphia - Smith Phoenix - Jovonovski Pittsburgh - Crosby San Jose - Marleau St. Louis - Kariya Tampa Bay - Richards Toronto - Our boy Boyd Vancouver - Beiksa Washington - Ovechkin/Green
-
Quick Question - Has Selanne only committed to a comeback with the Ducks exclusively? Or will he even talk to other teams?
-
I love the guy, but I gotta admit - Im still surprised.

If Zetter's back holds up for the rest of the season, I think he has a great shot at it. I don't think he will let anyone run anyway with it - he has been so damn consistent all year. Hasn't he only NOT tallied at least point in 6 games this season? -
I picked you out of the crowd because you actually admitted to laughing when Crosby hurt himself, something I find odd and slightly disturbing.
-
So then you think you opinion is better then mine? Therefore I can tell YOU to get over YOUrself? Why don't we all just tell each other to: 'Get over yourself!' when we have differing opinions, because usually something thinks their opinion is better then someone else's. ARE YOU EVEN READING MY POSTS? my point has been stated TWICE in exactly the same words, but I will copy and paste it for your benefit. Then maybe we can put this argument to bed. Wanting to see a player get injured because you are sick of hearing his name is childish. but to your credit - I should have said Being happy after seeing a player get injured because you are sick of hearing his name is childish...not all that different IMO.
-
So you are saying you laughed when he was injured, why? Do you laugh when you are not happy about something? Laughing or claiming you enjoyed seeing him hurt himself, or thinking it was funny would indicate to me that you would want him to get injured, or you enjoy seeing it again. And 'Get over yourself'?? What does that even mean in this context? People always seem to use that as some kind of final burn. I was claiming when looking at the big picture, your reaction to Crosby's injury was silly and immature, and to get over your hatred of him - not that I am personally a better human being than you. Like I said in my original post - Wanting to see a player get injured because you are sick of hearing is name is childish. And if you are a Wings fan, what difference does it make? The fact that this thread is so huge on a Wings board is a testament to Crosby's popularity - positive or negative.
-
Hahah, they are both funny - but I like the first best.
-
Your idiotic posts continue to amaze me. Its retarded to dislike Crosby because the NHL successfully markets his name. If you don't like the way he plays - fine, but why have so much hate for a player because of the way he is marketed? Crosby has done wonders for the NHL in the past 3 years. Cheers against him because you don't like the Penguins, or you think he is a bad player - not because you have some kind of angst against him because you think other players deserve the same amount of hype. Get over it - your going to have to piss and moan about the same things for the next 20 years, cause Crosby isn't going anywhere. The NHL will gladly trade the amount of fans tired of hearing Sid's name for the thousands of viewers he brings in every time he plays. Look, all we hear about in Canada is the Toronto Maple Leafs, and how badly they suck, as if its news every time they lose a game. Who cares? Just ignore it. Wanting to see a player get injured because you are sick of hearing is name is childish. And if you are a Wings fan, what difference does it make?

That will be a contender for goal of the year...
-
I'd rather have Dumont, honestly.
-
As long as it doesn't come at the expense of resigning Zetterberg, i'd go for Hossa. I am really afraid of the Wings losing that guy. But, Holland's not an idiot. He knows Zetterberg is more important to this teams future than Hossa potentially could be...right?
-
It was a little late - but as Bob McKenzie mentioned last night, Downie is deaf if one ear and has to wear a hearing aid constantly. That could explain him not hearing the whistle. Nevertheless, it was a bit late. I would have given him 2 min. No more.
-
Nice Life, Pronger. Everyone hates you.
-
Thumbs down on this one. I'll pass. It will take too much to get him - and even if they want to resign him, it will most likely come at the expense of Zetterberg.
-
That was a degrading game. Maybe what the Wings need. They probably thought they could just dial in the win tonight against a s***ty team. Oh well - gotta lose 2 in a row at some point.
-
I'd pass on both of those. Prospal's playoff stats are mediocre and I can't see the Leafs giving up one of their only youngish talents. Here are some guys who are available. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=227365&hubname=nhl Saying that, I hope the Wings don't mess with a good thing here. A lot of these trades are going to demand Filpulla/Hudler-like return. If I a was Ken Holland, I don't mess with my 1st and 2nd lines at this point. The deadline should be about acquiring depth - not significantly changing your line-up. Thats why I fear a Sundin or Hossa trade. Call me crazy, but doing something like adding Forseberg is a reasonable idea if he is healthy - he comes at no loss to the team except dollars.
-
On a side note - i always love to see CuJo's mask when he goes to a new team. It looked so damn cool when it changed from Leaf blue to Wing red. Think he will throw some orange in there for the Flames? It should look pretty cool.
-
Apparently the options were the Flames, Rangers, Leafs, and Sharks. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=227284&hubname=
