No kidding, it would be a little different had the Wings actually traded Green to the Caps. They traded the pick, there is nothing to say they would have even selected him with their 29th overall pick.
-
Why would he sign with the Flames if he wants a cup? I don't see the upside - Mediocre team, cold climate, lots of travel, Mike Keenan, and your backing up Kipper = 0 starts. I thought he wanted a shot at the cup? He should have stuck with the Rangers or San Jose.
-
I am all for standing pat at the deadline. At most a 2nd liner with some secondary scoring would be nice, but I would hate to see the Wings give up their young guys or more prospects for another rental.
-
Yeah cause Cops see a nice car and they immediately think, ' better let 'em off, they've got to be a celeb!' If they could have nabbed him from being under the influence they would have.

He didn't get away with anything - he pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide, driving too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane, and speeding. At the time, his blood-alcohol content was the legal limit. He was sentenced to three years probation, and the judge required the court to approve of Heatley's vehicle, which could not have more than six cylinders and would not surpass 70mph (112km/h). here is the link http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=113782&hubname= On the same note- I don't hear people bitching about Craig McTavish - who killed a young woman while driving drunk and only served one year in jail. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html...756C0A963948260 There is a difference between Killers and accidents, if you can't figure out the difference between the two labels - thats your problem.

I believe my friend could be classified as your 'average joe', and he wasn't charged after an investigation. And deferring the topic of a thread is one thing if you are discussing some worth while about hockey. Attempting to turn it into a 'Heatley is a murderer' thread is useless, but if you feel the need - start a discussion int he 'Off Topic' forum please.

I take offense to that. A good friend of mine was in a similar accident when we were in grade 11, killing his passenger - another friend. He wasn't drunk - but he was speeding. It was a terrible accident and horrible time for everyone who knew both of them. The driver was on suicide watch for a year before he finally regained some normalcy to his life. He was young, it was an accident. That does not make him 'a killer', and nobody considers him a killer. I am sure Dany still struggles with what happened, and its a great story to see him restart his career and have the kind of success he is having. At the same time, I am sure he gives two s***s about what you think of him - its his thing to get over and deal with not yours. It wasn't your friend and teammate who died. Sucks to hear he is out for a couple of weeks, he is having a hell of a year/

I would go for SJ. Much better shot at the Cup. Why did he end talks with the Sens? If I were him, I would play there for next to nothing.

6:13: A Nashville station has gone on record as saying they received confirmation from a source within the Preds organization that there have been talks with Washington regarding Ovechkin. Ted Leonsis, whom I have a great deal of respect for, has come out with this statement on his blog on the Caps website: "No mention of our team can pass, it seems, without noting Alex Ovechkin’s contract status, and I can tell from postings in the blogosphere and message boards that this has a lot of fans worried. I respect Alex and George McPhee’s commitment to keep the negotiations out of the media and frankly have wondered who is making up some of the things I have read. As I have stated on numerous occasions, we couldn’t be more impressed with Alex as a player and a person and we expect him to be in D.C. for a long, long time. " Another source has told me that he believes a contract with AO may indeed be close and has said that he was told the Preds weren't moving for him. - Looks like that rumor is busted

I meant on the Athletics, cause they are losing Swisher - the ChiSox still look okay to me, Cabrera, Crede, Dye, and Thome are good players - so is Swisher. They need some SP help.

Thats beer? It looks more like a mixed drink to me for some reason - whatever it is, it DOES look refreshing.
-
Weird... not much talent remaining on that club. They are in for a rough couple of years...
-
I second that. Trading Hudler at this point would be silly. Cleary Hudler and Flip are providing wonderful secondary scoring. And replying to the original posters trades - Pitt wont trade Malone, and other then that, you made us a slower, older team - just what you DONT want for the playoffs.
-
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad to see Canada scrape that one together - their play in the 3rd and the beginning of OT was awful though, props to Sweden for making it a great game - they will be a force next year. But for now, its time to bask in the glory - Go Canada Go!
-
This team looks great to me. I am more excited for this years playoffs than any for the last 6 years. The Wings really have something going this year - looks like they found just the right chemistry. I am loving this team right now.
-
No one from the East really - there is something about Ottawa that makes me feel like the Wings could take them. In the West - San Jose, maybe Anaheim, and to tell you the truth, the Oilers always seem to play the Wings really tough.
-
Yeah, at least with Lids ans Raf you know you have two solid Dmen in the line up every night. Not a guy who will get suspended 2 or 3 times a season or a guy who might not even show up at all.
-
Same with Kesler. Every team has 2 or 3 defensive forwards. I've seen him play countless times and I have never been as impressed as the hype says I should be.
-
Once Canada got going today it was nice to watch. I was really impressed with Pyett - looks like he will be a really nice D-man someday, maybe just in time when Lids retires.
-
Thanks for the late Christmas present Nick/Ken. YAY!!!!!!!!!! Not only is this a great signing for the Wings right now, but it gives them some leverage in Zetterberg talks. Of course they will give him a longer term deal, but I can't see it exceeding 7.4 now. Good job. Give Zetterberg 7 over 6 and then move on to Cleary.

Yeah, i thought i saw something there too.. So MA Fleury has some kind of pad there too? They look more triangular.
-
Could someone point out these flaps to me? I have looked at pics of Lou and can't see the difference. They look the same as and They all have the inner flap on the knee. Turco's look the same - in fact all the RBK ones do. Quick Edit: *all the same in the knees. It looks like Luongo's ARE much bigger than the others, but you be the judge. Another Quick Edit: Maybe he is talking about what you can see on the outside of MA Fleury's pads by the knees? That little extension which is absent from Turco and Khabi, but you can't see Luongo's well enough...could be there?
-
Really? Didn't know that...but I saw a movie once that claimed it was actually 999 because everything is flipped or mirrored in hell...or something like that. Anyone remember that movie? Not that I really believe in this stuff..

I don't understand why you would keep trying to discredit this fight. I would be willing to say half of hockey fights start from pushing and shoving with gloves on, so you could post a picture of any pre-fight scrum, and the guys would still have the gloves on. I could post a picture taken 10 seconds after that one, and there gloves would be off. Saying it wasn't a legit fight is just wrong. As for the helmet and visor thing - both guys had them on because neither are fighters - so in my opinion, its pretty even. Its not like Crosby purposely kept it on, nor does that make him a '*****'. At what point during that fight would he have stopped and taken it off? Iginla wears a visor and fights, and I don't hear people bitching about him. And sure, if it was anyone else in the league no one would care. But - its Crosby, and everyone does care because;1. He is one of the best, if not the best player in the league. 2. He has never fought before. Why shouldn't we be talking about this? It was fricking AMAZING to see him fight! Trying to discredit Crosby, or this fight is just pointless. All positives to Sid the Kid for this one. We would be just as excited to see Zetterberg drop 'em.
