Best Current Era Red Wing Team

The 2002 team was the most talented IMO. Sure, it may not have been the most exciting cup win, seeing as anything less would have been a failure - but the question is 'Which season had the best team' and I think with Hull, Robataille, Hasek, Chelios, Lidstrom, Yzerman, Shanahan, Federov, and Larionov...that a hard group of talent to top. For me the 97 cup win was the exciting for obvious reasons, but reaching the goal in 2002 after everyone said we would be a failure if we lost...there's something to be said about the 'relief factor' in winning a the cup that year. Comparable to the Red Sox this year...

Whats Wrong With the Wing's Marketing?

I think Iginla puts people in the stands because he is a good, tough hockey player, not necessarily because he is black. Bringing a Lecavalier to Detroit would have the same effect as bringing an Iginla, they are both exciting players. The fact that Iginla is African American is just an added bonus, he succeeded in an (unfortunately) white middle class dominated sport.

    All Star Jerseys

Weird...are they official on NHL.com or are these one of these NHL tourny of logos release things. Hard to believe they would use a crest like that - it looks like a fan contribution kind of thing. Oh well, at least they are simple.

    Best Damn Sports Show Period

The countdowns they have are fun sometimes, but for some reason no matter what they are counting down it always seems number 1 is that college football 13 lateral play where the band runs on the field that we have all seen a billion times.

what would it take to get vinny lecavalier?

Do you think the Pens would give up Crosby if we gave them Hudler and some picks?

    Interesting Comment from Ron MacLean

Interesting point, but I hope they don't think about expanding the playoffs. 16 teams and 4 rounds already lasts about 2 months, it doesn't need to get any longer. ..Unless they make the rounds best of 5 until the finals? I like how baseball works - its short and sweet and goes on just long enough to keep everyone excited.

Eric Lindros, bust or biggest bust ever?

If Neely is in the Hall of Fame, Lindros will be too.

    Next Question (LGW STYLE)

    - If you had to replace one Russian Five player for Pavel Datsyuk to play on that line, who would it be? Kozlov, he was good - but Datsyuk is better and I can't replace Federov or Larionov - If Chris Chelios retired before he went to Detroit, would he still be deserving of the HOF (You know that's where he'll be)? Absolutely - Is Sergei Fedorov a definite top 5 for all time TWO WAY PLAYER? No. - Number 9 is probably the most legendary number in NHL history, therefore who is more responsible for this, Maurice Richard or Gordie Howe? Howe, although I don't personally believe there is much separating the two, Howe played for longer and got more attention playing outside of Quebec - If... sorry... WHEN the Wings win the cup in '08, who should Lidstrom hand it to first? Babcock. - Henrik Zetterberg is on pace for 137 points, how close will he be from actually accomplishing this feat? 95-100 - If Igor Larionov and Pavel Datsyuk played together, who would be the goal scorer and who would be the playmaker? Datsyuk would be the scorer - Zetterberg re-signing with Detroit when he becomes UFA is highly likely... How much will he sign for? 52 Million over 7 years - but the contract will be front loaded so he makes more in his next 5 years and slowly makes less over his last 2 . - Rafalski or Schneider? Rafalski - Out of every player on the Red Wings roster, which one is likely to troll LGW from time to time? Kronwall, because he is rarely actually ever playing - he's got a lot of rehab time to waste on the boards.

what would it take to get vinny lecavalier?

misguided, wouldn't, -air? You're an idiot.

what would it take to get vinny lecavalier?

I'd give Datsyuk and Flip/Hudler But it doesnt matter because it would never happen. I don't think it would help EITHER team, and Tampa is attached to Vinny. He's not going anywhere.

Todd Bertuzzi offered $350,000 last year...

So you are judging Moore's character based on what? The fact he wants compensation for at least 3 years of lost salary and a broken neck? I'd say Bertuzzi offering a measly $350,000 and not having the decency to shake hands with Moore's lawyer a better picture of one's character...not to mention the violent act he committed towards Moore in the first place. Bottom line is Bertuzzi has cost Moore a significant amount of money, potentially his career, and caused a severe amount of pain - you think he should not offer more then $350,000 of compensation? After all, Burke gave him 4 million...Its not like Bertuzzi can't afford to at least try and make up for what he has done. UNtrue. There is a reason Yzerman, Messier, Hasek, and Howe (not to mention others) have been given the opportunity to come back from things like the lockout and retirement, or just old age. Its because they are or were superstars during their careers. Like I said, Moore was a guy fighting for a roster spot - its not like the loss of him sent shock waves through fantasy pools, or disrupted the NHL scoring race. The guy was fighting for a job - Bertuzzi took that away from him by breaking his neck.

Todd Bertuzzi offered $350,000 last year...

I couldn't disagree with you more. Moore's career is over, his neck WAS broken - and as a result, he will never play hockey again. As for your example, what IF it was Joe Sakic. Bertuzzi would be OUT OF THE LEAGUE FOR LIFE. The only reason the NHL and the PA didn't rip this guy a new one was because Moore was a 4th liner at best. Perhaps Sakic may have been given the opportunity to come back because of his star status - Moore didn't have that luxury, he was still out to prove himself every night and earn a job. Sure Bertuzzi cried - big deal. Moore broke his neck and is no longer in the NHL. Regardless if he could have come back or not, his career was already in question based on skill. Bertuzzi's punch ended his career as an NHL hockey player and he should be held responsible financially, at the very LEAST.

Bertuzzi is a loser. He deserves to get shelled for the Moore incident.

    Forsberg Done

As much as I have hated the guy from his Avalanche days, I can't say I am with the "HAHAH GOOD" crowd on this one. I feel kind of bad for him too - it would suck to have to retire prematurely because of injuries. He was a really good hockey player. I wouldn't have wanted him on the Wings this year, but he would have made any team better. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

How good is Zetterberg. MAN, he's not showing any signs of slowing down...

Zetterberg says he wants to spend his whole career in Detroit

Screw 8 years - give a front loaded contract through 2020!

    What if Hossa Were Available?

I am really hesitant to see the Wings go after any Big Name player and sign him to a long term salary until the get Zetterberg signed to an extension. Besides, the way the Wings are playing right now, there doesn't look like there is much need to take a chance on one of these guys. I expect Holland to sit tight this year - maybe add some scoring depth at the deadline (a Calder like deal), and then focus on Zetterberg next summer. If he keeps up this pace - he will be getting more then 6.2 mill - i'd guess closer to 7.

    Ron Wilson's an Idiot

Thats bad..not as bad as his Honta Yo bulls*** he pulled on the Capitals in the 98 finals. That was so uninspiring, in fact I was embarrassed for the guy when he was blowing that out of his ass.
