Why do we always have problems with the ducks?

Keep in mind the longer the stick is, the less control you have. Thats why a lot of guys use short sticks, its easier to stick handle with them. If I were a defenseman I would go long - if I was a forward, like Datsyuk, I would want a shorter stick to stickhandle around guys.

The Best Player in the League:

Why ask us who the best player is if you make us abide by all these rules? F. That. The best player thus far is Zetterberg. In 6 months it will be Crosby.

    Naslund on the move?

Actually, I agree. Floppa can be amazing, but Naslunds got more in the tank and he is good for 70 points. Sure, Forsberg may get you 2 points a game, but what good is that when he plays 10% of the time.

Comprehensive list of 50 goal and 100 point getters...

    Mike Cammelari should get 100...

Let's face it, Z is going to slow down at some point

I'm waiting for the post that says; 'Well, whats to stop Chris Chelios from picking up the slack and getting 2pts a night?' In all seriousness though - Zetterberg is amazing so far - I will worry about the rest of the team when he actually slows down.

    Jonathan Toews

'That was one of those great scores that you will see all season long' Did you hear the colour commentator on that? Who says that?

The Official List of Hat Tricks

OH OH! NOW I REMEMBER THE FORSBERG ONE. ahem... The Peter Forsberg Hattrick: A goal, an assist, and a debilitating injury. I forget where that one came from - I think TSN....

    Bobby Clarke for commish!

Right. And my guess is that Bobby Clarke has little or no interest in that. And even if he does - he has no clue how to go about doing that.

    Bobby Clarke for commish!

They choose lawyers because they understand the economic and legal concerns of the NHL. Why do so many people think this is just a position some old time player can step into? And I am not saying I support Bettman, he is more concerned with the southern American markets then where hockey is actually popular - but whoever is the Commissioner needs the education to deal with the marketing in a billion dollar industry - I don't even think Bobby Clarke has spend a single day in a post secondary institution. Look, you are going to get bird brains getting degree's who have poor motives running all kinds of organizations, but Bobby Clarke would be over his head in Bettman's position.

    Bobby Clarke for commish!

People are also forgetting most leagues require their commissioner to have some sort of professional degree, typically law. I know Bettman was a lawyer long before being a commissioner. Oh, and whoever mentioned Brian Burke must be out of their mind! (and not a wings fan) The guy is insane!

    Bobby Clarke for commish!

Go ahead argue his success as a GM all you want. I think 99% of the people involved in the NHL know Bobby Clarke as Commissioner is not an option or a solution. The guy is from the old NHL where hooking, clutching and cheap shots were all still part of the game - we are going forward, not backwards. This suggestion is so absurd I don't even know why I am having to argue against it.

    Bobby Clarke for commish!

Clarke was not the one who signed Briere, nor the one who got Upshall, Lupul, Biron, Timonen or Jason Smith via trades. He was the guy who banked on Roman Chechmanik and Robert Esche winning him a Stanley cup. I am not questioning Clarke's devotion to hockey, he was a gritty talented player. But some of the things to come out of that guys mouth - and some of the teams he has iced have been dreadful. He does not have the mental capacity to run and market the NHL internationally. side note: I recall him saying he lacked the 'desire' to manage when he resigned last season anyways.

    Bobby Clarke for commish!

absolutely not. Clarke is a tough guy and was a great hockey player - but that doesn't mean he has the brains to turn the NHL around. Look what happened to the Flyers

The Official List of Hat Tricks

Peter Forseberg Hatrick: 1 regular season game, 1 Injury, 0 Commitment - or something along those lines. I think Forsebergs last 5 years in the league have been typical enough to make a joke about.

    Doan requests trade ?

Is there even a source for this rumour? He was said to be going somewhere at the trade deadline but got a contract extension with the 'Yotes instead. Gretzky has said repeatedly that they will build from within their own system around their current top players and draft picks. I would be REALLY surprised if Doan went anywhere. Why would they sign him to a big contract through 2013 if they had any desire to trade him. This team is in the same position last year at the deadline as they are right now. They are slowly trying to rebuild around him with young players. Don't get your hopes up.

    Zetterberg vs. Datsyuk

Interesting debate Don't kill me for making this thread - I DID look up the topic in the search engine and had no similar threads within the last year, so I think its time to revisit the topic. By no means do I mean to reduce the value of either player by debating this - we have the luxury of having both - hopefully for a long time. Personally I like Zetterberg's game a bit more. He seems like a great leader, he is not afraid to shoot the puck, and he plays with a little more physicality then Pavel, and while Datsyuk has some absolutely sick stick handling skills, Zetterberg is not so shabby himself. What do you guys think? I am really hoping Holland signs Zetterberg to en extension similar to Datsyuk's. Maybe that is one of the reasons he left some cap room this summer? Thoughts? Who would you guys choose to build a team around?

    2007 Baseball Season

Anyone else watch the Sox Indians game tonight? Is it just be or did the home plate ump have his head up his ass? Questionable balls and strikes going BOTH ways. Unfortunately for me, and the Sox, the 3-0 Strike he called on Ramirez directly impacted the outcome of the game. I hope the league takes a look at it. The indians had some bad breaks too, but I just think the 3-0 strike to Ramirez, who eventually hit into the DP, was a terrible call.

He could slow down, he might speed up

Glorious to see.. especially since I have 4 of the top 10 scorers thus far in my hockey pool. Including #1 and 2. Woohoo.

    Zetterberg vs. Datsyuk

P.S. Zetterberg is now the NHL's leading scorer. For what is worth this early in the year.

    2007 Baseball Season

I am rooting for the Sox. Always have, always will. I lived in Boston till I was six and moved here to Edmonton when I started school - so ive been a sox fan for a while. Tough to see the bullpen implode like that last night in the 11th. Gagne is a frickin disaster...i feel bad for him but Francona CANNOT go to him in late games anymore. He seems like he is good for one out and thats it. anyways, hoping for a rebound tomorrow night. P.S. Rockies just went up 4-1. Can they be stopped???

Draper hopes to ink 3-year deal

he has been a key player in the success of the Wings for the last 10 years. But I wouldnt give him more then a million per year.

    Mats Sundin

Good player - but i am tired of hearing 'oh he is the best player in the game right now'. Overrated.
