Well I feel like i have been posting too many of these 'new jersey' threads - but hey someone has gotta keep it up huh? feast your eyes on this tasty lick. hahah looks like Ward got the XXXXL...looks a little baggy on him.

Looking at that Camp list...its kind of sad that our only new forward coming from a different NHL team is Drake...would have liked to see a couple fresh faces. Oh well, we've been through that one a couple times here on the board in the last 2 months

does anyone else find his replies incredibly annoying to read? KEN HOLLAND: Well, Dominik Hasek, obviously our hope -- Dom was a big part of the success we had throughout the regular season and in the playoffs. Our hope obviously having Chris Osgood as his backup, a veteran backup, our hope would be that Dom would play 50 to 55 games in the regular season, much like he did last year. Chris Osgood would play the rest. We think we've got -- we're protected with Jimmy Howard as being the No. 3 goalie, that if we do have some health issues, I think it's important to have some depth. We're hoping that some of our younger kids, Val Filppula, Jiri Hudler. If we can keep Nick Kronvall healthy. We think some of our younger kids: Brett Lebda, Tomas Kopecky who was out from Christmastime early on with a broken collarbone. We're hoping that some of these kids can take a step forward with bigger opportunity and fill some of the holes from some of the people that have left. ---finish a damn sentence before you move on! arg!

Sopel 's not a bad pickup for the right amount of money. I just hope he wouldnt be taking a spot away from my guy Quincey. As for the other veteran D... i heard Eric Weinrich's name floating around tsn as a possible comeback player. Not saying i'd want him, or that the Wings even have a USE for the guy - just saying I have heard his name mentioned. Interesting to see who it is.

I looked at the bracket from last year - the HURRICANES won. Don't take this thing to seriously guys. Also keep in mind every fan who ever had anything against the Wings is voting for the Canuckleheads. St. Louis fans, Colorado fans, Dallas fans, the list goes on. The Wings have alot of their own fans, don't get me wrong - but the amount of fans out there that hate the Wings based on our success exceeds our numbers....its no use.

What a glorious idea.

Lets get one thing straight before I tell you my actual thoughts on the jersey - think the canes jersey - especially that retarded crest that looks like a puck being flushed down a toilet - is over all pretty horrendous. BUT - I must say, the piping around the shoulders looks good IMO.

I'm partially with you on this one. While I don't mind the legged Pens, I did really enjoy the PITTSBURGH written diagonally down the jersey...they should have made the black one like that.

Pretty similar IMO.. Nothing changed much. On the side - I am starting to dislike this 'template' many teams are using for the jerseys. The Pens is very similar to Tampa's new one and same with the Sens new sweaters....it makes every jersey less unique if there are four or 5 jerseys with the same template, just different colours. Kind of like when all the national soccer teams started wearing Nike, Adidas, or Umbro Jerseys at the WC or EC that were all exactly the same except for the colours. this according to NHL tourny of logos. What do you guys think? Personally being from the OTHER Albertan team, i find the Alberta flag on one arm/canadian on the other a bit silly. Who do these guys think they are? The only team in Alberta..or the only team in Canada? Just curious what they think makes them need the two flags on each shoulder....not to mention it sets the whole jersey off.

I bet Hudler has a very similar year to last. I REALLY hope Quincey gets a spot out of training camp. Maybe in place of Lilja? I think Quincey is going to be a heck of a D-man.

yeah.. that was my first guess too..so i checked it out on wikipedia before i asked, and i think they are only 249...according to my math..but that could be wrong. It says Pittsburgh was founded November 25, 1758. So...wouldnt that mean Pittsburgh turns 250 NEXT november?? Or am I a complete idiot. either way...close enough?

The silly thing about guessing the lines is that they rarely stay together all year. Every team shuffles the lines. If Babcock or Nill say they are going to play someone with Dats or Zetterberg, it would be safer to say they will TRY to play them with those players. Why bicker over line combo's right now?

Whats the 250 for?

err.. that wasnt much of a shove. Most teams trash talk each other and push and shove after the whistle. Didn't seem like much of an issue there.

secondly.. the colours are wayyyy out of place - especially the Alberta Crest.

Hes not skating for US. It looks for like he is just goofing around. I don't think its unheard of for players to practice with friends during the summer. He played for Michigan State for a while - he probably comes back to the Detroit area to visit buddies in the summer. Thats my best guess.

i cant wait till they post shots of the back of the jersey. If you take the tour of the new sweaters at calgaryflames.com they show you - but trust me, its horrendous.

i tried it meet Yzerman once. It was in 94 here in Edmonton, and it was my first NHL AND Wings game, and the Oilers beat them 4-2. I went downstairs with my dad after the game to try and get his autograph - there were about 25 other people watching for players and trying to get autographs. I guess Yzerman was in a bad mood or something because he stood about 5 feet away from everyone just talking with an agent/assistant coach or something and did not approach anyone waiting for autographs... being 9 i was kind of upset, but didnt really waver my devotion to him or the team. I remember my dad yelling some Dutch insult at him, hoping he would notice. (after all, Yzerman is Dutch by heritage and so am I) Nevertheless, he didnt pay much attention to us, but I always just attributed it to the loss that night. I have also met a bunch of NHLers at the restaraunt i work at part time while i am not in school. We get the Oilers in for postgame meals alot, and I have seen Grant Fuhr and Kevin Lowe in a couple of times. Ryan Smyth was by far the nicest. He used to come in by himself in the afternoon and have a quiet meal in the lounge. On a side - i dont think i have ever told you guys THIS story...but ironically, everytime the Red Wings come to Edmonton, their caterer always orders about 16-20 lbs of Dry Ribs from our restaurant. The guys in the kitchen always let me make them and package them up cause they know im a wings fan. Its kind of a nice thing i look forward to doing every time they are in town. I always write little things on the side of the boxes like "go Wings" or "Chelios for MVP". I hope they get as much of a kick out of it as I do. hahah anyways..those are my stories. p.s. i should add that i DID eventually get Yzermans autograph through a family friend who owns/owned a comedy club in Detroit where Yzerman used to go. He was nice enough to sign a Red Wings business card for me. It read " To Tys, Best Wishes, Steve Yzerman 19". The guy then mailed me the card. I wish i got to actually meet him, but at least i have his autograph with my name on it.

Don't worry - I was well aware of the cost. I have been tucking some money away for this for the last couple of months. Its sickening how expensive they are nowadays though isnt it. yeah, they can pull that stuff off in Florida. Not up here in Alberta. The Oilers would have someones head if that was proposed.
