Yeah..no kidding. Some security guard must have let it slide.

These comebacks are really showing me that the Wings are much different from previous years. They are starting to really impress me. On an off note - Bertuzzi really was the "loch ness monster of the night". Just when we all thought this guy needed a big game, he lays another egg. Hope he can prove us all wrong! Great Win.

Some idiot Sharks fan doesnt realize the irony of throwing a dead shark onto the ice....

I'm sorry. This series is an f'ing BORE. Devils have the ability to make any series painfully slow to watch. Therefore i'm cheering for the Sens.
-
Give Franzen some credit. Have you watched any games this post season yet? They don't call him the Mule for nothing.
-
eh.. I dont know what to say. How can you bench a guy like Bertuzzi? I admit he has played like garbage, but he is the kind of guy who could be on the verge of breaking out. I say keep him in.
-
Yeah, the guy has to step it up. 4 years ago he was one of the top 5 players in the league. He didnt look good tonight - mind you I only caught the third, i had my own hockey game to play in. Heard it was a barn burner though.
-
I'll be deeply saddened if they move to the East for two reasons 1. Hockey in the East of boring 2. I live in Edmonton, and based on the stupid schedulers, I would probably never see them play here again.
-
Im all for 5-5 then 4-4 after the first OT period. Some of these playoff OT's have been painfully boring, and at least 4-4 would be exciting.

I don't quite agree. Shanahan left for good reasons. I understand his desire for a change, and who knows, maybe he didnt like Babcock. Federov on the other hand spent the majority of a season holding out on a contract, and was consistently causing drama. Remember that whole defense/forward thing when his dad got all pissed at Bowman? That was just weird. Federov was drafted by the Wings, brought up by the Wings and won 3 cups with them, then turned around and peaced it on us. Thats why the fans boo him. Shanahan played only a portion of his career here, and was a legit. superstar before he even came. While I am sure he appreciated his time here and much as we loved having him, i just don't think the fans feel personally betrayed by him. ---for the record, i didn't mind Federov's departure, his time was up.

Cherry's opinions on most things should really not be taken for much. Problem is, if half of the guys are wearing helmets and visors and half aren't, the guys who ARE wont take it easier on the guys who chose to wear nothing. Its a silly argument from a silly man.

I think this post proves that visors should be mandatory. Just like you said, some older players wouldn't wear a helmet either, but just thinking about that now makes me cringe. Only a crazy man would play todays game without head protection. You've got to change with the times, its becoming far too dangerous to play without one, and even though it doesn't completely protect you from all stick (Sakku Koivu), it definitely cuts down the danger. While I agree it really cuts down vision, its just something you adapt too. The best player in the league wears one, it can't be that bad can it? I wear one when I play, and it pisses me off sometimes, but the amount of times I've had sticks bounce off the visor makes me realize how important they are. I say grandfather them in...now. I bet you all 10 years from now every player will be wearing one. Oh, and this crap about visors giving you as many cuts as they prevent? Thats b.s. Try tightening your helmet! sheesh. Sure, I've had the visor come down a couple times, but a little red scrape on my lower cheek is much more acceptable than a scraped cornea, or having my eye poked out.

No, its actually in a couple months. He just felt like making the post a little early. Yep...its today!

This whole topic seems a little silly. I can see why you would be pessimistic about the Wings playoff future based on the first 10 mins of both games, but the other 100 minutes of this series has been all Wings. This is just a topic so that if the Wings lose you can say, 'told ya so'. Making ourselves the underdog is a natural way to make defeat seem less painful and unexpected, so I understand why people are doing it - but just relax, the series is 1-1 and far from over.

The guy coasts around all game. I dont understand it. When he has the puck, he can move it well and set up some nice plays, but its only valuable on the PP. He doesn't fight or hustle for any pucks, and he is such a liability in his own zone. I just don't get it...why doesn't he TRY!?

Draper..great last game One of the worst players on the ice this afternoon. This guy is lost. What a retarded penalty to take.

Pre-GAME 1 (4/26): Sharks @ Red Wings - 7:30 PM ET

Wow, that anthem sounded horrible. What happened to the normal lady? -
I read somewhere about how to do this. Boiling it DOES reduce the smell, but it also shrivels it up and its not so floppy. Apparently the best way is to put a layer of saran wrap around your abdomen, put the octopus against your stomach, and then put another layer of saran wrap around that. This holds it in and keeps it pretty tight against your chest. If you can handle the cold icky feeling for most of the game, i think this is the way to go, then when you are ready to throw, you can easily tear through the saran wrap to get it out. I'd say do it near the end when the wings are winning, that way you wont miss much. Just pick your time wisely, maybe if you throw it after a goal when the whole place is going nuts the confusion will be too much for the JLA Secret Service.

Anyone see that CBC commercial that was just on? This guy looks like a huge Wings fan. I wonder if he is a member here or posts often. Kinda cool if it turns out he is on here. So really, this is just an attempt to get his attention. Do with it what you will.

Haha, i guess we were all watching at the same time.

Ron MacLean just said Calder and Samuelson both have broken hands, but will still play. Wow, Calder, Sammy, Holmstrom, Lebda, and Kronvall all with injuries. I cant remember the last time the injury bug hit the wings this hard. It seems in previous playoffs (with the exception of Yzerman) of course, everyone has stayed healthy. I guess the lucks gotta run out sometime.

This is not a reply to this post specifically, just your posts in general. If you bring up the Wings losing to the Oilers last year, you cant ignore the fact that the Sharks lost to them too, and also held a 2-0 lead at one point, do you have the balls to talk about that? Also, I would be worried if Nabokov was HALF the playoff performer Kipprosoff was, but he isnt. If the Wings manage 25-30 per game, which they will I bet we see at least 3 goals a game. Hasek just has to stay solid which he has been and will continue to be. We all know where you stand on the series, you have presented your case and we are obviously not buying it, yet you continue to antagonize yourself and stir up mindless trouble. I would say that counts as trolling, and it doesn't take much to get banned here at LGW. I suggest you either stop talking till there is something more to talk about - or stop trying to piss off the rest of the forum. Side note when looking at the season series. 6/9 Goals in the 9-4 San Jose win were on the PP, and all five in the 5-1 win were also on the PP. In each of the other two games, they scored one PP goal, 2-1 Wings and 3-2 Sharks. Wow, 13 PP goals in four games. I look at it this way, if the Wings can stay out of the box, they will fare much better. BUT, the Sharks PP struggled through the first found...so I dont really know what to make of it. Being the smaller, quicker team (aside from Marleau who is disgustingly fast) I think it may be the Sharks taking the majority of the Penalties. Nevertheless, I think Special Teams will be a huge factor in this one. P.S. Ron Wilson is a bit of a prick anyways, I remember him taking the Oilers lightly last year and getting embarrassed. Oh, and nice facial hair you greasy bum.

Guerin says that he can read the Wings like a book, and Ron Wilson agrees: "I don't think there are any secrets about playing [Detroit]," [Guerin] said. "It's a really small world now, with all the video and the scouting. Plus they've been in the playoffs for what, 10 years in a row. They play the same way they always have. They only have a few players left from the Cup team (in 2002, and the total is seven of the top 20), but their core is still pretty much there, and they haven't played any differently. I don't think I know anything about them they don't already know." But head coach Ron Wilson refines the search by pointing out that Guerin isn't in charge of breaking down video, but whispering sweet somethings into the ears of the players next to him on the bench during the game, and his expertise in that context is invaluable. "Take Mathieu Schneider or Chris Chelios or Nicklas Lidstrom," Wilson said. "Billy knows what makes those guys tick, what they like to do and don't like to do. He can tell one of the young guys, 'What don't they want to do in a certain situation.' To say that this is why we got him is putting it a little too simply, but this is one of the ways he helps us. I mean, if you saw all the little things he did against Nashville that made things easier for the other guys, you'd get it." Playoffs for 10 years!? Please...isnt like at least 15?

I'll take whoever... San Jose's ice cant be much better than Dallas'. As for Turco's shutouts, the Canucks dont have nearly the offense the Wings have, and What little offense they DO have (Naslund and the Sedins) have gone cold. I think i'd still like to play the Stars over the Sharks.
