Can some give an update on Franzen? Any word yet?

I can *sort of see where they are coming from if I look really hard. He left his feet and made initial contact with the other players head, but it wasn't as severe as many hits ive seen. In the NHL that would go unpunished unless the ref called him for Charging. Not to mention it resulted in a goal....double burn! Oh and I guess we can take it that there was no initial penalty on the play, because they got the puck and scored with no whistle...right? Suspended indefinitely? Ouch.....

Nobody seemed to notice that shortly before posting that he said "Kind of bored today...what can I stir the pot about today". The guy was looking for a reaction, and he got it. It was a stupid thing to say, but this is getting blown out of proportion.

will s***. just when i thought the Wings were getting younger, they add Modano at 40 (who I can live with), and Salei at 35. Not all that impressed, but hey im no GM.

Nystrom is the prototypical Calgary player - mediocre skill but pretty hard nosed and doesn't mind getting dirty. He is still young enough that the Wings could mold him into a much better player too. Id rather a guy like Nystrom over Moreau.

Please please stop hoping for Ethan Moreau. The past three years in Edmonton have been PAINFUL watching the guy. He will drive us nuts here in Detroit - takes HORRIBLE penalties at HORRIBLE times, can't fight anymore, and is so injury prone. Its a running joke here in Edmonton that he takes s***ty penalties in the offensive zone, late in the game, when the team is down a goal. He did it almost a dozen times this year. Terrible, just terrible.

I may be a retard here, but I don't think we are understanding his question - this judging by his response. A GM can't sign a player to 'become' a UFA or a RFA, the player earns the right to be a UFA over time. Even if a GM signs a rookie, who's entry level deal is up, to a one year contract, he can only do that so many times before that player is a UFA anyways (27 years old, or 7 years pro service). Its better for a GM to lock up these guys long term, so that their ability to become a UFA is delayed. A GM can sign a RFA to a one or two year deal if they are not sure what their value will be long term, or if they can't agree on a number long term. The best case scenario is to give RFA's short term deals until the year before they become a UFA, then hit them with a long term deal so they stay off the market - much like how Zetterberg's contract worked out. Does that make any sense or is that not what your asking?

..... Lame. Crosby wont get the blame Ovechkin got because he has actually achieved something in his career already. Back to back cup finals, Stanley Cup ring, Olympic Gold. You don't hear people saying Zetterberg and Datsyuk choked in the San Jose series because of all the team success they've already had. Crosby gets a longer leash because the Pens, just like the Wings, have played more hockey than anyone else in the last three years and won the Cup last year. Ovechkin and the Caps have now choked three years in a row, and Ovechkin and the Russian's choked at the Olympics as well. A lot more to point at Ovechkin than Crosby. Plus it was a second round loss, not a first with a 3-1 series lead. Not even comparable in my mind.

no. don't trade Flip. I think he is the most important forward after Zetter, Dats, and Franzen. We'd lose a lot of depth if we lost him.

Your brutal. Ferraro has been one of the best colour commentators in the league for the past 4 or 5 years. Completely neutral in this one, but is not afraid to call out players on either side who do something stupid. The fact that his son is in the organization aside, he was great tonight. In fact, he is one of the few guys (along with Bob McKenzie) who regularly give the Wings their due.

Zetterberg played really well again today, but Datsyuk had a really off game IMO. As good as Zetter is, I think for this team to win, Datsyuk still has to be their best player, and he really didn't carry much of the play today. Hopefully that goal woke Franzen up, cause he had been dragging his ass in this series to that point.

Nothing good will ever happen to the Flyers. Their players play like assholes, their management is made up of assholes, and their fans cheer like big assholes. They play a mean, dirty style of hockey which may be entertaining at times, but is most often reckless. I truly believe in the saying 'what goes around, comes around'.

The real version is better simply because of the caption. "What if Yzerman didn't lead all the way through the end" just doesn't have a nice ring. At all... haha
