Sammy, Quincey, and a prospect to Van for Edler. Dream...but it'd be nice. It will be interesting to see what Holland does with this glut of forwards. My guess is he will wait till training camp to see what he's got in Bert and Sammy (health wise), then make a decision.
-
You think Brunner and Fil > Alfie and Weiss? I dunno about that one. I would have liked to hang on to Brunner, but Alfie is a low risk signing and Weiss is a very good player.
-
Hearing Dallas is in the mix for Dan Cleary. That would open the door for Alfie to wear 11.
-
fake Bob Mck. They superimposed his verification check-mark on their their twitter background. Nothing official yet.
-
Alfie is the perfect 1-year insurance plan for next season. This years' UFA class is weak, and guys are going to get long, outrageous contracts. I think Holland is doing the right thing going after guy who can still contribute for 1 year. Low, low risk here guys.
-
This - and I think we shouldn't worry too much about his age. Holland could see him as a short-term replacement for Fil (or Brunner, god forbid) somewhere in the top 6. It will be a 1 year deal that gives guys like Nyquist and Tatar one more year on the 3rd.

For what its worth: Hockey Buzz Eklund @Eklund 1m Crazy! I was just told Zet feels confident that Alfredsson could be headed to the Wings. Its eklund. And perhaps we should look at what he's actually said. Zetterberg feels confident Alfie COULD be headed to the Wings. He could be headed to Boston or Ottawa, too.

i vote no.

This is good news - and I think we all knew this would be the case. Holland tries to avoid getting caught up in overpaying UFAs. Clarkson is looking for a huge pay day from a team willing to take a gamble. I can't believe he wants 6 million. I know he has had two pretty good seasons, but his offensive totals are no better than Franzen's, and IMO he is less proven. I still think Ryder is the better choice - he'll be cheaper and I bet you he scores just as many goals.
-
Good question...I was wondering the same. I already have 4 tickets up in section 28 (way back) that I purchased last year through the Maple Leafs draw. Looking to upgrade tomorrow.
-
Someone will probably through Ville Leino money at him. Should be interesting...do you guys think Zetterberg has any pull here? Seemed like the two have a nice history going back to HC Zug. To be honest, I am a little shocked he hasn't resigned already.

Congrats to the Griffs! Really nice to see! And hey, our boy Yzerman has some good talent coming up there with the Crunch. -

Yes! Evans! -
bump -- its getting closer but Dats is still behind

I don't mind the layout of the jersey at all, its classic, but the logo is really unimaginative, and yes - the 'D' makes me think of the Ducks too. I would have kept the old logo and just updated the green.

Which UFA would help the Wings the most?
Yzerfan1999 replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
I voted Ryder (goals) and Bickell (some goals, some toughness). I stayed away from Clarkson and Horton only because I think they will get a ton of cash thrown at them -
Can you believe the guy has never won the Jack Adams? Its a ******* travesty. He should have at least 3. One with Anaheim in 2003 and 2 with the Wings in 2008 and 2013. I also remember a handful of people calling for his head midway through the season. If the Wings fired Babcock, they would not only be retards, but he would also have his pick to coach any other team in the NHL. The guy is the best coach of the past decade.
-
Thats the biggest thing I noticed about him - he is skating a lot better. He also moves the puck well in his own end.

Yeah, he didn't have a great series. I wouldn't be surprised if he was hurt.
-
Yeah - I wonder if he deserved more ice-time. Its hard to tell if he is just good in small spurts or if he can sustain his play over 20-25 mins of play. Smith was really thrown into the fire, I suspect he will be better in the long run for it. Agreed - I was hoping Lashoff could fill that physical void a bit, but he is still pretty young. And while he is big, I am not sure if he is all that "nasty". Anyone see him in GR much?
-
Buy out our top goal scorer who has a cap hit under 4 million? It worries me that 26 people have voted "yes". What are you thinking? The Wings aren't going to find a 25-30 goal scorer for any less than $3.9 on the market. Buy out Sammy

Hahaha. I saw this last night and laughed my ass off. Hilarious! I'm sure Pierre understands the rejection, but its his job to try to get the interview. I'm sure he has been turned down before.

It was a really fun playoff run. Stings a little that we didn't close the Hawks out, but then again Chicago is really an amazing team this year. REALLY excited about Nyquist, Andersson, and Brunner. Dekeyser and Smith will get better, and imagine if we had Helm. If the Wings can get a top 4 d-man and a 20-30 goal scorer, they will be back in contention.
