Signed Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses
WorkingOvertime replied to anthonyn66's topic in General
I hope he doesn't make the team...I would much rather see Jurco and/or Callahan. -
signed Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

While I don't agree with re-signing Q- I wanted to promote from within when the Wings missed out on the best UFAs- Engelland at 3yrs/2.9m and Orpik at 5yrs/5.5m are much worse. -

I was hoping to see one of Sproul, Oullet, and Marchenko up all season if the Wings were unable to sign Boyle, Ehrhoff, etc. Unless the Wings move Kindl and/or Lashoff, there won't be room for any of them for two more seasons. -
Can Z and Pav do anything to protest? (not that they would)

What would be the message to management? According to mlive, the Wings made a big push to improve the defense. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/07/red_wings_made_several_pitches.html -

Do any of the Wings' players live in Detroit? -

I'm not upset since Boyle and Ehrhoff decided to go elsewhere despite the Wings' offer, and the other options weren't that attractive. I will be upset if the Wings make a bad panic signing. If needed, I do think the D in GR can step up like the forwards did last year. I like Brian Boyle, but there's no room for him on the Wings. -

Did Dallas or TBL sign anyone the Wings, or you, wanted to sign? Making a move just to make a move isn't what the Wings need IMO. -

I'm not sure that many/any teams would be interested in Kindl. -

Short-term deal instead of Quincey...I'd be on board. -

He is rumored to have offered Boyle 2yr/10m, so you can't say he was cheap. -

Doesn't he want 3 years minimum? -

Signed Sheahan Re-Signed: 2-Years @ $950k/season
WorkingOvertime replied to Nyquistfan14's topic in General
Great contract- I thought he would get closer to 1.2m/yr. -
Cap recapture penalties if he retires on another team. $10m penalty to Buffalo spread across the number of years left on the contract.

NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**
WorkingOvertime replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
I'd like to see that too, but I imagine most teams have players internally they want to evaluate and they know the Wings (and other teams) will have to put players through waivers. There doesn't seem to be a big market for non-veteran players, especially those that aren't 'gritty'. -

Signed Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill
WorkingOvertime replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
One year and cheap. IMO there isn't much downside to this signing. Mrazek can get a lot of games in GR, and the Wings can bring him up next season. -
Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins
WorkingOvertime replied to SteelTownWingsFan's topic in General
Wings need a Thornton-like player that is 5-10 years younger.
