Wings re-sign Cleary $1.5 mill + $1mill in game bonuses

I hope he doesn't make the team...I would much rather see Jurco and/or Callahan.

Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

While I don't agree with re-signing Q- I wanted to promote from within when the Wings missed out on the best UFAs- Engelland at 3yrs/2.9m and Orpik at 5yrs/5.5m are much worse.

Quincey re-signed by DET. 2 yr s $4.25 mill AAV

I was hoping to see one of Sproul, Oullet, and Marchenko up all season if the Wings were unable to sign Boyle, Ehrhoff, etc. Unless the Wings move Kindl and/or Lashoff, there won't be room for any of them for two more seasons.

Can Z and Pav do anything to protest? (not that they would)

What would be the message to management? According to mlive, the Wings made a big push to improve the defense. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/2014/07/red_wings_made_several_pitches.html

    No. No. No. No. No.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

I would rather have Alf and/or Jurco.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

Do any of the Wings' players live in Detroit?

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

I'm not upset since Boyle and Ehrhoff decided to go elsewhere despite the Wings' offer, and the other options weren't that attractive. I will be upset if the Wings make a bad panic signing. If needed, I do think the D in GR can step up like the forwards did last year. I like Brian Boyle, but there's no room for him on the Wings.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

    The Sportsnet analysts were speechless.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

I think he's done in the NHL.

    That's per year...wow.

Did Dallas or TBL sign anyone the Wings, or you, wanted to sign? Making a move just to make a move isn't what the Wings need IMO.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

I'm not sure that many/any teams would be interested in Kindl.

Short-term deal instead of Quincey...I'd be on board.

2014 Offseason League Signings and Trades

He is rumored to have offered Boyle 2yr/10m, so you can't say he was cheap.

Doesn't he want 3 years minimum?

    Sheahan Re-Signed: 2-Years @ $950k/season

Great contract- I thought he would get closer to 1.2m/yr.

BUF to buy out Christian Ehrhoff

Cap recapture penalties if he retires on another team. $10m penalty to Buffalo spread across the number of years left on the contract.

NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

I'd like to see that too, but I imagine most teams have players internally they want to evaluate and they know the Wings (and other teams) will have to put players through waivers. There doesn't seem to be a big market for non-veteran players, especially those that aren't 'gritty'.

NHL Draft 2014: Rounds 2-7 **MOD WARNING POST 51**

That's a pretty high price IMO.

    NHL Draft 2014: First Round

    Solid pick with Larkin.

    Detroit re-signs Gustavsson 1 yr $1.85 mill

One year and cheap. IMO there isn't much downside to this signing. Mrazek can get a lot of games in GR, and the Wings can bring him up next season.

Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins

Wings need a Thornton-like player that is 5-10 years younger.
