9/24 Pre-season GDT: Chicago Blackhawks at Red Wings

Of the few young players who are NHL ready that even PLAYED last night, only Morin looked impressive. Leddy had a pretty good game, but was on an awful pairing so it's really hard to judge. Beach reminded me a lot of the way Kopecky played for a large part of last year in that he appeared to be trying ot do too much instead of letting the game come to him. Vishnevsky, a guy who has a chane at a roster spot, really didn't play all that well while Jordan Hendry (who probably had a leg up to be the 5/6 dman on the bottom pairing) was flat out awful. Bickell, who pretty much has a roster spot locked up, played okay but nothing special. In all there where maybe 6-7 guys playing who will make the opening night roster and that INCLUDES the incumbants like Brouwer, Bolland, and Campbell. Simply put, last night was Chicago's "B" team much like tonight will be for you guys. I wouldn't read too much into either teams performance, outside of trying to judge players who are vying for open roster spots. Outside of maybe Morin (who is not only playign his way onto the roster, but could potentially see a top 6 role), all of our better NHL ready forward prospects will be playign tonight. Morin may play again, and he'll be joined by Makarov (he's been great so far), Skille, and Stalberg. I'm looking forward to tonight as some of these young guys will be playing on lines with our studs.

    Tonights line-up against Chicago

Just the exact same thing you saw last night, only flipped. Chicago throwing most of the "A" team out there, while Detroit will be going with it's "B" team and scrubs. Now you'll know what us Hawk fans felt like last night.

    Westward, ho!

Where else would you have proposed they put the arena? With the revitalized PNL district downtown, the arena is not in a bad spot at all. I'm also willing to wager if and when KC ever did get a team, any retarded "dress code" rules would be instantly waived. Talk about a non-issue. Try using some common sense. Neither Portland or Milwaukee will be able to support 2 teams with overlapping seasons in such small markets. The 2 American cities that easily make the most sense are Seattle and KC. IMO Seattle should get the nod as the West coast desperately needs another team. I'm sure Houston would maybe get a look due to the shear size, but the southern teams generally haven't faired to well at all financially.

Niemi should be start #1. Well boys, as much as I'd kind of like it if you didn't make the playoffs, good luck on getting healthy as I'd rather see the Hawks try to beat a healthy team than a bunch of fill-ins. If any of you are tight with mother nature pull some strings for me as I'm attempting to drive from KC to northern Iowa for the holidays. Good night folks.

I'll gladly take the two points. People who didn't watch the games may think the Hawks "dominated" the last two as they won both by 3-0 scores. The reality is both teams played like horses*** and the Hawks were lucky enough to net some goals and get timely goaltending (especially Niemi tonight). I don't think this crap will cut it though when you guys are healthy, OR in the POs against other good teams. What's good for the Hawks is that they have played pretty piss poor hockey the last several games yet only have one loss to show for it. And that game may have been the best overall game the Hawks played (outside the PPs). When you play like crap but still manage to win games it shows you have a pretty good team. With that said the Hawks NEED to play better hockey.

Can't you guys boot that troll out of here?/ Nothing pisses me off more than when fans come to an opposing team's board just to be a prick. One of your "fans" is on a Hawk board right now doing the same s***. I'm guessing both have strong footholds in their mommies' basements.

Here you guys go. Gotta convert here. Nice save by Niemi.

You guys started well, not converting on several opportunities in the first. It's been downhill from there though. If the Hawks hang on and win the game it's one we really didn't deserve to win. They have played better as the game has progressed, but few guys have really played well tonight. If the PP hadn't completely stunk last night, the Hawks would have a 6 game in streak despite playing pretty poorly in most of the contests (not one good overall game.)

Just like you I watch the games which puts revenue in the league's pockets. This allows the players to command ridiculous salaries. I'm by no means a delusional nut, but fans are just as much "part of the team" as the players are. So yeah, sometimes I'll use we in my posts.

With the way Niemi is playing that 2nd goal should be enough. As long as we don't commit stupid penalites or lose our defensive focus.

Hawks played much better the 2nd half of the period, but we are still getting owned overall. If not for Niemi (who is looking very good once again, with a good chance to have his FIFTH shutout in TEN games) and Kane's shot we are kind of getting owned out there. Outside of those two and Campbell, everyone looks like complete dogs***.

You didn't score but you had the right idea. The Hawks have the wrong idea on vrtually every PP.

Even though you guys didn't score, you illustrated why no Hawk fan want to play you guys in the playoffs. You guys are continually looking to collapse, with the point making the defense commit, then passing and quickly shooting within 15 feet of the net. Our PK gets in an 8x8 box and you guys have angles/passing lanes all over the place. That's how you guys killed us last year. And q never learns from it.

If our PP would do that every time (collapse down, and get better shots) we'd be so much better. Especially when the puck is in Kane's hands.

1st period: Detroit>>>Hawks. We're just lucky you guys couldn't score. Outside of Niemi our whole team looked like s***. And if putting Kopecky on our PP doesn't illustrate how stupid Q is I don't know what does.
