God, I have been begging and pleading for Hossa to actually play with Flip and now we see why. s***, now they say Flip is hurt?

Yes indeed it was and for all the hassle people gave devereaux, watch those old games and the kid was flying around, going right to the boards and the net, winning battles in the corner and playing very hard. Helm like? Almost and I will take that kind of hustle any day and certainly in any playoff (need anyone a reminder, think about game 4). Honestly, Hull had it made. You had these two young players working their ass off for you, including an insanely skilled passer in Datsyk and later with Hank as well, and he just floated around waiting for the play. Yzerman got to play with Pavel and Hank a few times and commented on iot - something like, "Now I see what Hull is talking about. He has it easy out there and I could get used to this." Also read a comment once. Hull was on the bench and told Datsyuk he was open at a certain point. Dats said, "No you weren't open." Hull replied with something like, "Of the 700+ goals I have scored, 300 or so were in that same position. I know when I am open kid."

Yea, and how about "The Wizard" for Datsyuk. That was a Mickey one too I think.

Kronner has more than occasional flashes of brilliance in his game, no doubt about it. His mistakes seem more pronounced and more painful than most though. I'd like to see him be smarter about penalties and step up with on ice leadership when we are in close scoring situations. As to all these ranking arguments, what is the point? How about this. Godzilla was the #1 monster. No doubt about it. Think otherwise? Try me, just try me.

Okay, if he comes back we have to assume he is limited a little in mobility. Given that, if we see him on a line with Homer, I will flip. Speaking of Flip, why not have him play wing on a line with Flip? I mean Flip was been 100% wasted playing with Hossa of late. Hossa has become an out of control puck hog, so why waste a play maker and hustle guy like Flip on him? Hey, nothing against a super star puck og IF they score, but when they repeatedly fail to do it on their own and their previous success came from great plays with great line mates, then WTF?

Good for you! Seriously, this is what it is all about. 4-0 sweeps of 97 and 98 were a gift and very rare. 02 had a little tension with a game one loss then that triple OT, but earlier on we almost lost it all to the Canucks! Last year was getting close to evenly matched and now we have it. If the Wings win, all this doubt, ups and downs... will just add to the whole experience. There is a reason this is the hardest trophy to win in all sports and we are seeing it right here. Some worthwhile things have to hurt a bit. Any way, you are right. Try and enjoy the ride. P.S. Way way way before my time, but could you imagine the 1968 World Series? Tigers came back from 3-1, won three straight and won it all. At the time, it must have been crazy and tense beyond belief. Kind of makes 2-2 look tame in comparison!

Smart observation! Plus it is disruptive. We are always reacting instead of dictating. That is never good. Wouldn't it be something to be the ones having our lines adjusted to instead? Alas, if Dats were in that might be the case - a healthy Dats.

Great observation. He was a mastermind in many ways. Seemed a no nonsense type of guy as well. Too bad his Sharks laid down and died, but I think we will see more of him in playoff future.

Can I ask a dumb question. Is it not obvious that when he returns people will be taking swipes at his foot? When we take pains to not disclose injuries to Lids and others, why why why spell it out for Datsyuk? Sure they can see him limping on the news, but a limp can be anything from a toe to a hip. I just don't get it. I think we will see him Saturday. I can't wait. Time for a hero and I can't think of a better one. However, if Babs puts him out there with Homer, I will be very frustrated.

I feel your pain. There is a difference between critiquing the team and players and taking the line that we suck and are doomed. Sadly, the two types of responses get blurred here. Plus, people just need to vent some times! I personally will take venting over the "stay positive at all accounts" point of view. It's a Detroit thing. Remember the old campaign to say nice things about Detroit? Gee, that worked out well didn't it? Nothing wrong with being able to call the issues and problems out. Perhaps if we bring up a problem, THEN offer a solution even the rose colored homer glasses types might be okay with it. For example. Problem: Homer sucks. Solution: Move him to the 4th line and tell him to grind it out and concentrate on D over O. Free up a skill guy to play with our top 6 boys and that might generate scoring.

Constructive. We were outplayed yes, but I think we are being out coached too. We saw signs of this defensive collapse all through the series. Lines are not producing. Babcock needs to be a little more hands on. I think when he makes changes the results are always there. I don't understand why he is so hesitant to do so, but game 4 was a huge wake up call. I think we will see changes. I'm confident that if we do make changes they will pay off. I'm less confident he will make them or make them in time.

To sit someone who is producing makes no sense. To let senority or anything else cloud a decision bugs me. Babcock needs to look a little more clearly at merit and results. If he did, Abby would be playing and Homer might be on the 4th line. These young guys like Helm and Abby show quite clearly hunger, drive and results. It should be rewarded consistently and if it were, it just might wake up others.

I saw that one too and so did the announcers. For a minute I was truly terrified that a snipers bullet from the upper deck had taken out the NHL's little darling.
