Grit. Used to be the thing people talked about constantly regarding the Wings. No grit, not gritty enough... darn Europeans... Just a few questions to think about. Who has more grit, Wings or Penns? Who had more last year? Did it take grit to beat the Ducks this year? Would you call Darren Helm a gritty player? How about Cleary? How about a super star like Hank? Kronvall? Stuart? It may not be 1997 grit, but its damn good. The Penns will be experiencing this grit in about one hour and 6 minutes!

Get this, my wife who could really care less about hockey was watching the game with me and during the pregame she said something like, "Jesus, this is too much. Can they stop talking about how 'special" Crosby is. This is absurd. What, are they going to show everyone year of his school pictures next and have his mother tell us his favorite dinners?"

I'll take all the pregame hype on them, and then have the game owned by us - any ******* day.

He is just so much fun to watch. I love how Babs is putting him out more now. Penalty kill? Duh! The guy could just be a playoff player for the rest of his career. I mean, he shows everyone, "THIS is how you play playoff hockey." God DAMN, he is making this great.

I have said this to my dumb ass Penns fan friend at work and he doesn't get it. I would never trade Hank for Crosby, not in a million years.

Maybe we need a definition of grit here. If it just means fighting, then that is not what I am talking about. The Wings are, I think, gritty. They work hard, they battle and they hit - all added to a complete team game with skill and speed galore.

Well, come on. It is hard to think Crosby is praising anyone and he certainly doesn't seem able to just come out and say anything directly , "He's a damn good player." Last years SCF had enough evidence of that. Remember the 'he just lifted my stick' kind of comment after the legendary 5-3. Nope Sidney, you choked in the SCF with a 5-3 and were owned out there by the fricken Conn Smythe Winner on that 5-3. You wanted that trophy, you thought it was owed to you, you thought it was your little destiny and you whined like a little ******* school girl because of this annoying thing where a better player and team took it instead. Now you show a little more poise and we are supposed to admire you? Sorry, some players (like Hank) had it all along.

God, if I had the choice I would take CBC any day, but I don't. Hard to believe they aren't in HD though.

I don't think I have ever seen a Cup year with this much doom and gloom. I can be as down as the next fan, but I just don't see this one as something to be so worried about. We have the deepest team imaginable, a goalie playing great and a coach who knows what it takes to win all types of playoff series. We are facing a team with two stars that while great have to do double duty on a fourth line (!!!) and haven't had anything close to the competition we will give them. Crosby and Malkin better figure out a way to get on the 2nd and 3rd line while they are at it. I'll take these back to back games, take the injuries, take the press gushing over last year's losers and everything else. The Wings are a force and are the champs. You can bet the Penns are the ones with more internal doubts at this time. The Wings are the best damn hockey team on the planet. You will see why very soon. The talk has gone on too much. Let's play the damn games! GO WINGS!!!

Just a thought, if you are nervous or doubtful, think about how our guys played, especially the last two games. Think about our beating the Ducks and how we did it. Think about our forwards amazing capabilities to play defensively and shut down opposing lines, whether they produce or not recently... These are all good things and the press is almost oblivious to them. If you read the papers or news online, it's all doom and gloom, hype and a stacked deck. That is why they have to play the games!

Was your laparoscopic (using small incisions and a scope to guide things) or did they cut a big incision? Ericcson HAS to be getting a lap appy. I'm certain the surgeon's were even more careful with him.

If you want to talk about regular season performances, then I say put those critical lenses on Helm. I mean come on, the guy's regular season stats are pathetic. Why, it's like he wasn't even there! :-)

All these uneasy feelings just mean we know it will be a good match up. Many felt the same way with the Ducks. It just means it will be a great series to watch. Okay, Malkin and Crosby are hot. Putting our top lines out to shut them down is a very good strategy and guys like Hank and Dats may have not been putting up the O, but I will put money on them for putting up the D any day. With them contained , scoring, but not at will and nowhwere near how they have scored on lesser teams of late, what else do they have? Not much. What else do we have? Oh boy, start with Flip, Help, Clearly not to mention Leino, Sammy... Top lines - stalemate Goalies - even Coaching - even Depth - Wings major advantage Wings in 6.

Konnan511, good point. It's all a reminder of how some people can be so detached and hide behind computers. If someone said something like that blog post in person their level of stupidity would be beyond obvious and they would probably end up having their ass kicked very shortly after. It's not funny, it's not trash, it's just evidence this person is human garbage.
