Yea, isn't it great the refs are just letting the game develop?

I'm sorry, and this is not right, but you can't say the Ducks didn't have it coming as a team. Plus, I think he over dramatized this and will be back.

I guess that was a high stick and a great academy award performance as well.

I actually like it now and then, but not for the whole thing. What I really liked was the old winter classic camera (not this year, but before) that ran along the glass and followed the players. That was cool.

Is anyone better than Nick in keeping the puck in? Not Kronvall.

I guess this is the "Oh, gee, maybe we should have called that, so we will call this lame call here." Again, please not let this game come down to the refs.

I could not imagine spending tonight on a Ducks forum. How sad a Ducks fan is staying here on a Wings forum. I suppose a student of psychology could have a field day with this.

I don't want to be too negative, because so many good things happened that period, but does Kronvall go out of his way in getting a bad penalty every playoff game or what? Every other D seems to be so much smarter about how they play. Nick Jr. my a$$. How about Chris Jr? Let's hope he plays smarter the rest of the game.

Excellent idea! Why didn't I think of that? Here is to a great second period (e-toast, e-raising of bottle...)

Please let this game not be about the refs - either way.

Of course he does, he is our biggest baddest power forward. God I love that little guy. "Heart of a Lion" describes him to the T.
  18. Why you did start this absurdly weak argument? Massive line combo changes going on right now prove one of us knows how to think like a NHL coach in game 7's and that one would be me. You get new players on your line you have a fresh start and can play differently while the other team has to adjust. It's a no brainer. Sure it isn't analogous to calling plays in football, but in any sport, as a coach or player, you want to the one acting, not reacting. Scotty Bowman, Art of War, Patton, Payton... it's what winners do.

Is tonights game exclusively on versus?

Be prepared out of towners. If it goes to OT they will switch to the Canes-Bruins game. Happened in the reverse when Chicago and Vancouver went to OT...
  20. There is this thing called reality that I am trying to get across here. He is playing his ass off, but not scoring. Why? Because they focused on him. Respond by adapting to that focus, not just wishing. I'm just glad you aren't in the military or running a large company.
  21. That's kind of silly. Babs made one adjustment and it didn't work for Dats, but helped Hossa. Why stop there? Why? Just wishing, hoping, expecting change when you do nothing to impact a change is magical thinking. Is that what coaches get paid to do - wish, hope, think things should turn around? Gee, I thought they were supposed to implement strategies, make adjustments to those strategies to counter the strategy of the other coach. Well, the other coach had a strategy - let's bottle up, swarm and suffocate their star player and by golly it is working. Our coach says, "Try harder, you have to make chances turn into goals..." It is ludicrous! It is like the head of GM saying, "We need to sell more cars." Duh! Perhaps through sheer willpower Pavel may come through, but it is all unnecessary and unfair to him as a player.

    What Game 7 Means....

While a 2002 style game 7 blow out of epic proportions would be beyond my wildest dreams and I would give up coffee if I could be guaranteed it would happen, I just can't go there now. Just can't. Nobody expected that when it happened with the Avs and as a result it was.... one of the best days ever to be a Wings fan.
  23. Gee, I'd rather of seen this headline: Datsyuk Speaks to Babcock on Plane Ride about Lack of Effective Coaching (Wants line mate that can help open things up). Come on guys (of all genders), we have seen this from Lewis and now we are seeing it again. When Dats and/or Hank aren't producing they are being swarmed and the Wings fail to adjust with new line combos. I really do agree with the other posters here. Homer is great, but the ZDH line is not cut out for the Ducks. It needs a third skill guy to eliminate double teaming/swarming Datsyuk as an option. This is not chess level thinking. It is checkers. It just isn't going to change through sheer effort or time. If anything, not changing a thing will give the Ducks to perfect what they have already figured out how to do - shut down Datsyuk. If we don't see new lines tonight we do not see Datsyuk producing. Babcock is like a general or admiral with a great weapon, but it being used incorrectly. Hey, if you think I am nuts ask if Scotty would have let this go so long?

    Is Filppula "Pine Furniture"?

But he IS Finnish!!! ha ha ha ha, I crack myself up. ALso, I am disappointed that I am the first one to post this most obvious corney joke. If Flip is the one guy you can single out, well I'd hate to be working for you! :-) He is playing with a ton of jump and he sure is contributing the production of his line. In fact, I think Dats could learn a bit from watching how Flip just barrels into traffic and to the net. He may end up off his feet more times than not, but he keeps trying. I like that.
