I bought Gamecenter last year and renewed my subscription this year. It's more expensive, I paid 160$ or so and last year I paid something like 120$ for both baseball and hockey packages. That was a great deal. The quality is better this year than last. It's not as good as HD through cable, but it's certainly better than SD TV. If your connection is slow you can choose a lesser quality if you need to. It isn't a perfect feed. I watched the Wings-Caps game this weekend and had to refresh the page once as it froze and it probably buffered twice throughout the game. It picks up right where it left off though so you don't miss anything. You can also rewind and pause which is kind of nice if you need a sandwich or something. It's also a little choppy, but much better than hockeystreams. you can watch 4 games at once, or picture in picture. I plug my laptop into my big screen and it works very well. Of course, you only get out of town games and no national games so if you live in range of FSN or whatever plays the Wings games, it's not the choice for you. I live in chicago so it's perfect. Oh and you also get the between period coverage but not the commercials. I think that's great, I hate commercials.

I had it last year and it was great. I resubscribed this year and it worked the first evening. Since then every time I log in I just get a screen that says, "come back Oct 1st for live hockey!" that's great. Is anybody else having the same problem? you'd think they'd at least update the page to say that they are having problems. That's why I'm thinking it's something with my account or computer.

yeah I got it to work by clciking the scores directly too but just that first night. Now it opens a new window with the Oct 1st message. No response from customer service. Grrrrr. I've cleared out my cache and tried safari and firefox. Any other ideas?

anyone else failing to get gamecenter to work? i log in and just get "come back oct 1st to watch live hockey!"

what happened? it was 3-1, i walked away for 10 minutes!

damn, when i use the proxy the flash videos won't load. Even the Web security is better in Canada!

I hate to get into the discussion this way, but: Crosby

there was a similar analysis on puck prospectus last week and they put Detroit just outside the top 10, i believe. They also said it wasn't so much that Detroit was great at drafting, but that they were great at player retention. the Islanders were actually just ahead of Detroit, as far as drafting, and the list of names is impressive, but they weren't able to hold onto any of those guys.

Thanks for the post, Kid Rock.

this thread sounds like we missed the playoffs or something. We still have the best team in the league. I expect Helm, Leino, Erickson & Abs to provide a lot of that spark as their roles increase and the Drapers, Maltbys & Holmstroms decrease. Those young guys look ready to start making contributions just as they older boys are tailing out. Perfect timing, if you ask me. I also don't understand why there seems to be a lot of talk about guys not producing in the playoffs. It sucks that Hossa couldn't find the back of the net, but you can't judge a player on such a small sample size.

I'll be in the upper bowl, with my little sister, cheering on the Wings. We moved to Chicago when we were kids but are still huge Wings fans. Does anyone have a good recommendation for dinner before the game?
-
thanks for all the suggestions guys. we'll have all day so i think we'll hit up one of the places greektown and try and stop by hockeytown. isn't Nemo's the place where they tried to car bomb Jimmy Hoffa?

i'm in Chicago, my sister is in Downers Grove and my parents are further out west in Wonder Lake. we get back to Detroit once or twice a year but don't spend much time downtime.

I think the Pens plan will be: "Let's try and get the puck to Malkin and Crosby as much as we can." in reality, the Wings have dominated 5 on 5 while the Pens have had a huge advantage on the PP. Detroit needs to stay out of the box, Pens need them in the box. I know it's not that simple, but that's been the series.

you can get the center ice or game center or whatever it's called package from nhl.com. that has tons of archived games. but it's nowhere near HD and live games are blacked out in the teams home town. maybe next year the quality will be better. the mlb package looks great. hopefully hockey can catch up. it's perfect for me since i live in chicago.

you can also go to ustream and search for red wings. there are always 5 or 6 live feeds up. Be warned though, the quality is often bad. sometimes it'll hang for 20 seconds, play for 5, hang for 20 ... other times it's seemless. Lately it's been unwatchable though.

kill me

sweet, 2 seconds is enough time to setup

i missed it, too. i have to watch streaming and its lagging all over the place.

YEAAAAAAHHHH!

hey, i'm trying to stay optimistic here! 19 shots on goal is great. Fleury had to pull them out several times. we need to keep getting multipal chances.

Pens are lucky it's tied. The refs can't give this game to them much more without causing a riot. Bettman sucks.
