The bad news is that Columbus just had it's first taste of the playoffs and won't let it's franchise player go unless they are sitting somewhere around last place at the deadline.. even then they might chose to hang on. Kovalchuk sounds more realistic. -

Lids might be a sport and take 4 million for one year. We all need to realize that even if he takes 7 million it's worth it... so I don't think we should speculate about our captain's salary too much And Holmstrom is injury plagued, slower, and not worth his money.. no one misses more assignments than Homer. I think the nicest way to go about the Holmstrom situation is a golden handshake.

Lidstrom new one year deal at 5mil Holmstrom retires Maltby retires Draper re-signs at 1mil We start to get close to signing Kovalchuk. However we would face cap troubles for what would seem like forever.

Honestly to anyone that hasn't been following Havlat on twitter you should check in every once in a while. I actually really like the guy based almost entirely on his 'tweets'. He's really honest on there, to the point he was even talking about the Kronwall hit and talking about the dental work he needed due to the Red Wings repeatedly messing him up.
