Yea I've never understood it. The QMJHL is a faster league than the WHL yet lots of Wings come the WHL. The OHL is somewhere in between.

There haven't been a ton in the system. The Wings have traditionally avoided French guys.

As much as it's not important I like the protocols that dictate that the captain should earn the most money... and I think we all know Z is the next captain. I don't want to see Hossa's contract exceed Zetterberg's either.

I think for a borderline contract like that some doctor hired by the league would ask Hossa something like "Do you think you can play when you are 42?" Hossa being a good sport, an athlete and hopefully someone who loves hockey will say, "Definitely". Then I think the league would have to take his word for it and legalize the contract.
