Ok so I know generally speaking shootouts and Wings wins don't go well together but I really want to see one when Dats is back. I think we all know he's been thinking up some ridiculous one handed move we can't really even imagine yet. Or maybe he saw that college player who used the 'Datsyuk' move as a fake to go back to forehand and really wants to try it on an NHLer. I also really hope Bert tries his through the legs fake again. Looks like it would work if it went on net...

That Hall quote is actually amazing. Never thought I would read it from a 19 year old 'superstar'.

Ok so even if doughty was guilty of a head shot in this instance (he isn't) how the hell can you avoid hitting Hall in the head? I mean Doughty couldn't have gotten any lower. Soon the NHL will employ little people... Zack Roloff will glide out on skates and power to the net with his head down and the dmen will split for him because they'll be afraid of grazing his face with their thighs and getting a 5 game suspension. EDIT: eff Roloff... we should just tell Hudler to 'keep your head down out there', he'd generate a lot more scoring chances I'm sure.

The purpose of the stat (like a lot of others) is just for fun.

Rolling Chair - Zetterberg - Holmstrom the other lines stay the same. I put the rolling chair on the wing rather than in center because typically they are really one way players (they don't have much foresight in decision making)... and since it is new to the team I don't want to load it up with responsibility.

One thing to consider about his efforts though is that he does consistently gain the zone. Yet for all the talk of losing 15 pounds or whatever to get 'faster' it hasn't worked. I Think Emma has just been encouraging him to play less xbox lately. People seem to forget that Dats is very guilty of sloppy, mushy passes that get picked off a lot. Maybe not as many as Hank these days but still... he's treated like the pope around here. My prediction is 7-5-1. If they win 7 they are a legitimate contender, like they were in the '09 playoffs with only half a Datsyuk.

I was about to say that 8 in 20 makes Hudler look so much worse than we already know.

I'm more in favor of continuing to cultivate loyalty from within our own team. Unless he says yest to two years in the AHL (with a chance here and there to play in the NHL when injuries strike) he isn't a good signing. Ville Leino is a good precedent in this case... though I am aware that Hagelin may be nothing like him.

And he is right!

It would be hilarious... just a bunch of clips from the same angle. The only thing that would change would be the uniform on the defenseman trying to push him away from the net and the logo on the goalie's chest.

My sig has a decent pavel datsyuk video, not that those are hard to find. Also:

Weber would be nice. The more I look at even the best possible replacements for Lids (Doughty for instance) it becomes more and more clear that he will be missed beyond imagination. I can even imagine Mickey and Ken pining for the Lidstrom days when our new #1 is beat cleanly in a one on one.

In complete agreement. A german adler on gold, black and red is pretty intimidating. In related news... the german world cup jerseys were also the best internationally.

Aww, why thank you.

preface: please be advised not all of the hits are dirty.. blanket terms are bad, but easy. In light of the fact that dirty, blindsided, headhunting hits are discussed nightly in the NHL I put together a video highlighting some of the recent dirt. Discuss/enjoy! Also.... I feel criminal for not including one of the biggest hits in Detroit history. I feel as though I am a terrible fan right now.
-
more of a 'make fun of bros joke'... like naming an album 'the big dirty' a la Every Time I Die or something in that vein. Sex-y. also notice the use of context quotes.
-
I didn't, I referred to them as dangerous and we know its true!
-
Nah I should have prefaced better. Not all of them are, but in the modern collective conscious regarding 'big hits' a lot of them are dirty. The hit on Z for instance is a very clean hit, whereas the drubbing Dupuis got was as dirty as could be.

Hughson is the best, most objective pbp. Never fumbles, always speak in a friendly to the ear tone yet gets excited enough when great things happen.
-
The refs were right to break that one up. Dorsett could be dead right now.

My only fear is losing HNIC. Even if it lives on under Rogers it just won't have the prestige or history of the traditional CBC broadcast. Not to mention that the CBC pays me a pittance every week for bumper editing.

I imagine maybe it was something folksy. Bob Dylan-ish or this:
-
Abby w/ second line minutes. I like.

Damnit, Dats and his Russian techno.
