The good thing about the years I went to University in Toronto (besides a degree) was all the NHL hockey I got to see. Every night I went to the ACC I saw at least half of an NHL game (the Leafs look a lot more like AHLers on any given night). TBH about he fans in Toronto.. some are ridiculous homers who can't admit that they are the worst post-lockout team, others actually know that the organization aside from financial successes, they are a joke. This includes the writers and even their marketing direction. One of their guys named Shum (in Leafs marketing) is probably one of the best sports conversationalists I've ever met. He's worked for the Stars, Canucks and Leafs, as well as the Blue Jays and Yankees. He watches the Game at 'Il Gatto Nero' every night on College street. If you like a good sports chat (especially hockey) talk to him some night. He'll be the only Asian guy at the bar and he'll probably have Yankees paraphernalia on him.

7uongo's weakness is that he comes off the inside post too easily. You can't beat his pads or blocker but if you shoot from tough angles or lob shots in from the blue (a la Datsyuk) line you've got a chance.

Toronto is generally a safe place to wear wings gear (I've never been asked to fight anyways) to see a game but two years ago now I was crossing the street and a cop used his PA in his car to tell me the Wings are '***'. Surprised me that a police officer would slander a team with a word like '***'.

Which would be a good thing because then the rest of the league could stop babysitting one more franchise. Those franchises aren't fooling anyone... they are not profitable. If the NHL ever wants to stop being a Mickey Mouse league they need to first admit that they are... like how alcoholics need to first admit they have a problem before they recover.

Coincidence. While it's a topic of discussion: I think Balsille is an ideal owner for an NHL franchise. He has bottomless pockets, loves the game and a proper business sense.. something that got him in trouble when he approached the Phoenix situation somewhat underhanded. I just can't believe that guy doesn't own Nashville, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Atlanta, Columbus or one of the Floridian franchises yet.

Unnecessary. I realize Carman likes Crosby.. lots of people do.. some of my best friends do. I don't however feel the need to obsess with their interest or piss on Crosby when it isn't warranted or when his name is absent from the conversation at hand.

I'm hoping we get San Jose first. Historically we play well against them and we all know their own history in the playoffs. sidenote... I was just thinking about how great we have been doing post olympics (due partly I'm sure to the rest and healing our team got). It's funny but at the beginning of the season we were cursing the olympics for turning the reg season into a grind. We also figured Sweden would be making a deep run possibly tiring out our stars... what I'm trying to say here is that the olympics were a blessing in disguise.

The Wings have a great history of signing their RFA's and young UFA's to great semi-long/ long term deals that pan out. I think that whatever Holland chooses is the right move.

When I was in Germany I watched 2 Bundesliga games... I don't care for football at all but man.. Euro football fans are awesome. I know Wings fans are passionate but this is different. I'm sure our resident Euros can help me explain.

My thoughts pretty much. Z has been groomed for the position. Level headed, respected and talented; The three qualities I think are most necessary for captaincy.

Man I know its said all the time but... when Crosby and Zetters go head to head there is just no comparing the two. Zetterberg just has Crosby figured out. Crosby is Zee's *****. EDIT: When all is said and done between the Ovechkin Crosby rivalry, ie. after they retire I hope there are a few people out there who remember Zetterberg dominating both of them when they are on the same ice surface.

If Fil keeps playign like he has these past few games he will have to change his assessment. Fil is an ace lately. EDIT: speak of the devil... assist.

As far as 'Z playign with leftovers' is concerned: I'd say Z is more suited to playing with more, how should we say 'average' linemates as he is the type of guy who despite scoring less than he shoud is the more consistent of the Euro Twins. Z might be hurt and tired but it does still look like a concerted effort is given when humanly possible. Case in point is his great PK numbers and better PPG vs. Datsyuk this season.

Im right handed and I play with my right on the bottom. It's not like my left is so weak I can't lift the stick haha. My dominant hand on the bottom lets me stick handle better and I'm less likely to lift my stick off the ice for no good reason and get a penalty or miss a pass. Some pros should try it I think.

I hope for a Canada versus U.S. game in the final for a few reasons. #1. Good for hockey in the U.S. #2. Great hockey lore in the making. #3. I wouldn't want Canada's potential gold medal feeling hollow without a victory against every team they faced (less excuses later). #4. ---> (the most important reason) They are in my opinion the best two teams left.

Well... lets face it, Canadian players on american teams win cups. The largest representation in the legue (by nation) is Canadian.
