Preface: So my boss is a sort of big shot wannabe like a lot of bosses are and we were talking hockey today. Marty Turco comes up and he tells me he knows where he is signing. I ask where and he tells me Detroit. Apparently he had been to a wedding with Turco recently and heard from two of Marty's friends that he is all but officially signed with the Wings and when he asked Turco himself he responded by saying "He'd really like to play in Detroit", but that was about all he get straight from the horses mouth. Still a rumor and I don't know what to make of it but yea... something to ponder.

Yea that's why I prefaced it the way I did and made sure I didn't say "FACT: Turco is a Wing". Everyone should know how to deal with a rumor.

So NHL 95 is the household "board game" of choice (take that monopoly). My Dad being a Blackhawks fan chooses the Hawks. My brother is all about goaltending so he takes Montreal for Roy, my mom thinks penguins are cute so she takes Pitts... this means three of the top 4 rated teams in the game are gone and in order to adequately compete I gotta go DRW. Turns out Fedorov is an untouchable nearly on the same level Roenick is in that game and I quickly learn to love the Red Wings. My dad offers to take me to see a Red Wings game and I get to see them beat Montreal and from then on I pledged my allegiance to the winged wheel.

I agree if it wasn't for the franchises in Atlanta, Nashville and especially Phoenix this league would be in a bad financial situation. Bettman is a lawyer... not a businessman or sportsman.

Kovalchuk is an impressive Hockey specimen to watch and an unbelievably accurate shooter. Hossa is a better defensive forward still capable of 100 points. Hossa is my pck.

Thornton totally cheated those faceoffs though. Basically just fell on top of Pavel without ever stopping first.

The officiating was bad on both ends and it made me look away at times, but this was a good series and better than the 4-1 tally implies. If Lidstrom comes back next year I hope he gets new sticks.

I'm certain it does have more to do with the record. And as for the sellouts stat lets rewind two years and discuss the sellout situation. Which city and arena has a richer tradition? I mean the entire planet knows how rabid the NorCal hockey scene is. Between the Golden Seals and Sharks the banners are innumerable. A history rich with championships and names synonymous with 'greatness'. Hockeytown just doesn't live up to it.

I think its more or less just the Sharks' home record that make the HP Pavilion a tough venue. It has been pretty ridiculous over the past few seasons (better than ours). The fans there are probably less threatening than most especially when pretending to be sharks.

I hope it wasn't that trip by Yandle that has caused this little slump. He hasn't posted a point since that play. The faceoff losses are the give away that he is hurt though. Just not enough strength to win any.
