I think CBJ is in at the 6-8 spot. I think that they have the youthful pieces and no real poison in the clubhouse. Other than that its just a gut feeling I have.

Conflicting reports but the most recent was that Salei was NOT on the plane having left early to see the aformentioned baby and his family and is still alive. Sad to see the last of the Grind Line retire, but the contributions left by the "old guard" will be felt for a while yet. In their twilight seasons all of these guys have mentored and taught their trade to the young guns. That is what makes us the class of the League and builds 2 decades of postseason appearances. Congrats on a great career Drapes, thank you thank you thank you for all the memories, and I hope to see you at a recognition night this coming season along with Oz, Query, is it possible to recognize the Grind Line in some manner at the Joe, I realize none were to Number Retirement level (#5 will be the next) but I would love to see some memorialization of that group of guys. I would be quite alright with bringing him on board if we could unload E, I was rather impressed by his play in the Van series and while a lot of people will point to him as having the turnover that cost the series I remember hearing his name A LOT. If we can get him for a decent price I think his stock is on the rise.

We do have two games against the Pens in the pre-season.....just saying.

Agreed, Doughty would be a good, young, replacement to Rafi. He has the O mind, a shot from the point, and is a righty. Oh and he has a little size to him.

This makes me a bit sad that there is no PIT in JLA. Guess I gotta roadtrip there and stir some trouble.

We could have him do that in the concourse on nights he is scratched from the lineup, you know keep him close to home.

DISCLAIMER I have not read through the entire thread. I have been reading all about how its going to be hard to move Hudler, and he is a waste of a spot, etc. Can we not just assign him to AHL and if someone grabs him don't they owe us picks? Even if they dont isnt that a way to rid ourselves of his salary and open a spot to be used in a more productive way? Just a question, please dont jump me if its a stupid one, I was just curious.

It is times like this when I as a fan struggle to keep realistic. I want very badly for us to flip the switch we saw in the Phx series. I want us to claw back. I want to see the Winged Wheel in the WCF. I think they can do it, they need 4 games. They need to send a message tomorrow, then they need to steal one in SJ, and finally they need to eek one out in 6, that brings up game 7 which as everyone knows is anyones game.
