Obviously steroid use in Hockey would give a player a physical edge, but no amount of steroids will give a player Hockey skill. It is from this form of thinking that I believe steroid use IS within Hockey, but not like a cancer that it is to other sports. Hockey requires much more than physical strength alone and because of that I don't think a lot of players are using. Now if they had a pill that made you shoot better, well, we all know what would happen. I also believe the "new" Hockey has rules in place that prevent excessive physical play. I'm not arguing if these new rules are good or bad for the sport, merely stating that they exist. This could be a deterrent for a young player to even consider using "juice". Some will always look for an edge, but it is in my opinion that Hockey is not a sport that you can gain a tremendous advantage in by using steroids. Still it should be watched and proper punishments should be handed out accordingly.

I agree, the rivalry is dead. Still I hold on to that grudge and wont let go anytime soon. I'll tell you what, if.... thats a big IF the hawks rebound better than most of us expect you could see an original 6 + Central division rivalry equal to that of the wings/avs rivalry. Would be a far less physical one but the intensity to win the games could be high.

Agreed 100%. I remember thinking that same statement to myself when I watched Hank take 45 cross checks from Crosby in the back, and made Howard come out to save him.. I agree with the new philosophy that winning takes discipline and determination but I'll tell ya... nothing gets the heart going like watching a bench clearing brawl and seeing one of your favorite players bloody up a guy who injured a teammate.

Avs. without question or debate. The Rivalry between the wings and the Avs, the dirty hit, the retribution Mac and the team took, it was the most intense rivalry I've personally ever experienced between the wings and another team. I dont think anything will ever come close to those years again. To much happened to spark that, on and off the ice.

I watched Yzerman on T.V every other night from the day I was born. I wish him the cup in years to come, and I hope he finds his way back home to Detroit one day. I must agree with him, "that red and white is a beautiful jersey."

Reading some of these responses makes me glad Kenny is the GM and not the members of this forum. Malts in GR = a great mentor for our PROSPECTS Malts on the Detroit bench during the playoffs = added depth, experienced leadership, and another PKer. so to those of you complaining about the deal, please understand Kenny is better than you. Sweet, but not gonna happen. The loyalty Yzerman had show the Detroit Red Wings he will now show to TB. The only way we get Yzerman back as a GM is if he gets fired and Kenny is gone.

Ok, you're reaching a bit here guy. Hawks ended the amazing depth season with 112 points and proceeded to lose a massive amount of players during the off season. The Red Wings ended the Injury plagued AHLer season with 102 points ( only 10 points behind you ) and proceeded to reacquire Huds, sign Mike Effing Modano and shore up our D line with an experienced vet in Salei. The wings retained young assets, Abs/Helm/Eaves While the Hawks lose them, Ladd/Byfuglien/ I know you have a "Core" in Chitown. We have one here in Detroit so that does not scare me. My point is stop reaching, its sad. Are the hawks gonna be last place next year? Not by a long shot... Will they be in first place and or repeat the cup, not by a long shot. Edited for language

You can not replace Lids , he is 1 of a kind... when Lids is gone forget looking for a D man of his caliber , get a Elite goalie to make up for his loss.

Hmmmm who do i want in my line up for a GAME 7 in the SCF , a 20 something year old kid ( if abs is even that old idk ) or a experienced Vet who has won 4 stanly cups.. come on think about it. now what if Abs WAS in, dident score a goal and made a bad play that the pens scored on, you would be here saying. Hossa is NOT worth 7.5 mil keep hossa if he signs for 5 or less I think Helm needs to come up full time, in fact i think he needs to be on the Z and Dats line. a kinda of a flip flop from when they would feed hull, helm could feed them, he is strong along the boards has great speed and i know he has scoring potential. Helm is easily better then Huds, hes bigger, more physical and faster. so bye bye huds hello helm Homer just took too many crosschecks to the back and i think he has become very injury prone in his growing age. keep him around as a 3ed or 4th liner but get him off the 1st line already, we have scrappy youth that could do wonders with and experienced duo like Z and Dats. Once again Keep hossa if he takes 5 or less but no more than 5... not even 5.1. with hossa out you free up a lot of cap space to get some good players. i rather have 2 guys who score 25 goals each rather than 1 hossa who scores 40.... think about it.

I have a split decision. Fair calls from refs 15% chance if the wings dont step it up Friday. 95% chance if the wings show up to win. unfair calls from refs 50% chance if the wings show up but the refs make bad calls/non calls 0% chance if wings dont step it up AND the refs make bad calls/non calls

Its a good idea. i've thought about it my self from time to time. Top 4 seeds from each conference, break it down to 3 division leaders and a wild card ( like baseball ) you now have 1/4 of the teams playing for playoff spot instead of Half the league. It would make for MUCH better regular season hockey as each game would mean more. Plus hockey should NOT RUN INTO JUNE.. its a cold weather sport, and the warm days effect the ice negatively.
