Hope they can get it going for you. It's always a ton of fun being outside the Igloo watching away games with fellow fans. Makes it feel like they're playing at home. Saturday was just sick though.. leaving the arena and seeing over 10K already out there cheering. If they do have it at the Joe on Tuesday where would they put it, or would they just sell tickets and do Joe Vision?

There's always your PP too!

Um.. hate to break it to you but did we didn't have Guerin, Fedotenko, or Satan last year either. Pens have been to the SCF 2 years in a row now with replacable parts in these roles. Shero has been pretty good at finding the right players for us. I don't doubt he can keep it up with the core he has to build around. Sykora is likely gone. After his drop off I can't see him coming back unless it's for real cheap. Satan played in Wilkes Barre half the year, and is filler until someone better comes along. The only 2 questions at forward are Guerin and Fedotenko. I see at least one of them being back for sure.. my bet is Fedotenko, although Guerin does really love being here. Who knows, maybe we'll start seeing some of our guys take the ol' Wings discount. If not we do have some good up and comers looking for a shot.

True that. As an East fan there aren't words to describe how much we despise our other teams. The ones NE at least.. South kinda slides a little. You want to see hate? Go to a Pens/Flyers game. The arguements there lasts all year long.

You're psychic powers amaze me!

Who's the best diver you've ever seen?

Seriously.. what is with NBC? Forcing the back to backs in the first games, and not allowing the show outside. Fans are going to watch it regardless, what difference does it make if their all staring at one screen. Would it screw with their ratings or something. Anyways, enjoy the festivities.

I agree the Ducks may have been a bad match up for us. Plus all that traveling from Pa to Cali. Wings and Ducks are the only set of teams who worried me from your 2nd round though. Pretty nice you 2 had to face each other. I feel your pain from the battle in that series. I thought that was how our Carolina games would go. Was a big surprise to see Ward melt like that. For the Pens getting through Varlamov was a heart attack waiting to happen. The kid played lights out against us up to game 7. Pens have been pretty determined ever since getting down to the Caps 0-2. All I can say about this season is thank you Disco Dan! He's the fit at coach this team was build for.

Not unable to refute - I just chose not to. It's not necessary to respond to the whining over the calls/no calls. Each team's fans have seen their share for sure. Usually the ones still talking about it are the same ones completely ignorant to what happens on the other side. It's a never ending cycle of bickering and whining. As a Pens fan I could cry bloody murder over the quick whistles Osgood gets - last night they blew one for him with the puck still flat in the crease untouched. OMG!! Shoulda woulda coulda right??? Point it each team is playing through their share of the BS - it's the NHL afterall. Players on both sides experience it. No team is being jobbed over the other. These have been great games. Having the cup in hand is a great feeling.. but watching the journey there is even better. Take off the homer goggles and start enjoying the action. I did last year even though I wasn't particularly happy with the outcome.

What a freaking sob story. I tried to take the high road by giving both teams their credit as it's been an amazing series to watch. After reading this wahhbaby piss and moan I have to be real - Detroit has carried no more than a single period in each of these games, the rest belonging to the Pens. It's 2-2 and frankly you should be glad it's only that. I know all about playing better yet still taking the loss - the Pens experienced it in both games 1 & 2. I simply felt each team is playing hard and it was some sad homer BS to be readin how Detroit was the better team despite any scoreboard. There has not been a single game in this series where Detroit was superior. They played better in a period here and there.. nothing different than what the Pens have done. When your team is giving up shorthanders you should maybe rethink your whine of how the games have been called.
-
Really, because I'm sure many Pens fans thought the Guerin high stick was sad too.. guess that's just fans being fans though. (Don't let the announcers feed your brain.. having your own objectivity is a good thing)

From what I've been watching (both at the games and home on tv).. this has been a great match with both teams sharing their punches. The series is tied and down to a best of 3. The momentum in this series switches period by period. Every time the Wings have the puck I'm nervous as hell, and every time my Pens have it I'm out of my seat expecting something big. This wasn't going to be a cake walk for either side. If anyone was expecting superiority or domination then they're just being a homer and finding excuses. For me as a Pens fan the Wings have been the ultimate challenge, when they win it's becuase we didn't play hard enough and they were simply better. Superior despite losing is a load of absolute crock.

There was nothing called on the play, so really what purpose is there in calling it out as a dive? The only thing we as fans know for sure is the Wings had the puck with only 4 Pens skaters left on their feet and did nothing with it.

Maybe that's the key word.. Passion. Nearly every single Pittsburgher is passionate for the Steelers. My 92 yr grandmother fought the doctors in her hospital over her TV to watch them. They didn't like how the games were raising her heart rate.. she said there wasn't a better way to go than seeing them play. I know Detroit (as a city) has that same passion for the Wings. When I say that Pens fans love their Hockey just as much, I was meaning the fans.. the STH like myself who've been through it all and do have that same passion. Sorry, I wasn't trying to compare the cities themselves and what each team means to them. This is by far Steelers Country, and you're right comapring that to the Wings. I spend a lot of time in Saginaw for work and get to see both sides 1st hand.

How many threads about this have there been?
-
Did I say that? Comparing the football and hockey viewership of both cities is a poor example. Plain and simple the Lions stink and outside of Barry pretty much always have. I have to think that if they did have a ring or two.. (or anything remotely worth rooting for) things might be a little different in Detroit. It's not completely about one sport vs the other. The actual success of the teams play a role. PGH is as die hard for its sports (provided it's a contact sport) as any other city in this country. I did love watching us win a Superbowl in Detroit, so thank you for that.. would be neat to get a cup there too!
-
The goal would have been allowed. The ruling would have taken into account that none of the Pens players are actually men to begin with. Thus the too many MEN on the ice rule does not apply to them. (I'm a die hard Pens fan too btw! Can't believe you guys missed this shot. )

Versus scores highest-rated,most-watched telecast ever with Game 3 of Stanley Cup Final Wednesday, 06.03.2009 / 6:25 PM / 2009 Stanley Cup Final: Detroit vs. Pittsburgh By NHL .com NEW YORK, N.Y. (June 3, 2009) VERSUS, the exclusive cable television home of the National Hockey League (NHL), garnered a 2.6 national HH rating and averaged 2,955,348 viewers for its Game 3 telecast of the 2009 Stanley Cup Final on Tuesday, June 2, with the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 4-2 defeat over the Detroit Red Wings at Mellon Arena. The game, which peaked at a 3.5 HH rating between 10:15 and 10:30 p.m., was the highest-rated and most-watched Stanley Cup Final game on cable since 2002. VERSUS, for the 8:00-10:45 p.m. time period, was the most-viewed cable network in the country and the top-rated network overall (broadcast and cable) among all key male demos. The 2.6 national HH rating is the best rating ever in the history of the network, beating both Lance Armstrong's final ride (7/24/05) and Game 5 between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks in the Conference Finals (5/27/09) which both earned a 2.1 HH rating. Among average viewers, the Game 3 telecast topped the network's previous high set during Game 2 of the 2008 Stanley Cup Final (2,608,371). VERSUS' Game 3 telecast showed a 37-percent increase in HH rating (2.6 vs 1.9) and 19-percent growth (2,955,348 vs 2,479,977) in average viewership over the average of Games 1 and 2 of the 2008 Stanley Cup Final between the Red Wings and Penguins. Locally, VERSUS garnered a 15.1 HH rating in Detroit and a 26.1 HH rating in Pittsburgh, making VERSUS the top-rated network (broadcast and cable) for the time period in both markets. VERSUS was also a top 5 cable network for the time period in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Washington, DC and Philadelphia, among others. That's even subtracting the 20K plus Pens fans who were AT THE ARENA and not tuned into VS. Even when our team and city had their financial issues, fans still tuned into the games on TV. We love our hockey just as much as Detroit does theirs, and having poor economies is something both cities share. Seeing the low numbers at the Joe over the years I would think some of you should understand where PGH and Pens have been. If you want to discuss idiot sports fans, or bandwagoners.. keep in mind they're in any city and in every sport..
