Why I don't want to play LA in the first round
ACallToArms replied to CrimsonFlame's topic in General
Its a cool video, but I think the puck was actually in the air before it took the odd-turn. If it was spinning and hit the ice at a weird angle, I could see it changing direction. Either that, or Quick is an X-man with telekinetic powers. -
Just not my cup of tea I guess, I quit halfway through and started playing DA:O again Love the Avatar too, I'm a big fan of The IT Crowd.
-
Excellent, another Dragon Age fan Too bad Dragon Age 2 sucks...
-
For some reason, this game is listed on VS and FSD+ for Comcast SE MI. I was busy yelling at VS for the first 10 minutes of the game... boo at least I didn't miss much
-
Here you go, ruining our fun with these facts and statistics... Still doesn't really dispel the myth. Of the years sampled, only 25% of Presidents Trophy winners won the cup. That's still pretty low.
-
The president's trophy is a curse, they Canucks can have it I'd rather see our boys lift the only trophy that matters I hope the Wings carry the momentum and heart they had in the 3rd period of the Pens game on Monday. If they do that, they should win easily.
-
Unfortunately, we've seen last night's game before. The Wings being uninterested in the first 40 minutes is nothing new for this season. However, only playing hockey in the 3rd period just isn't going to cut it come playoff time, where teams desperate to win a cup will be pulling out all the stops. The Wings are professionals, and I think they'll do well in the playoffs if their enthusiasm level matches their talent level.
-
I kind of dislike the whole "April in the D" thing, wish they'd get a new ad campaign.
-
I wouldn't be upset if Dats and Raff sat out the Nashville game. Better to not take chances risking them missing any portion of the playoffs.
-
It would be cool to have a Shanahan green jersey, but as said above the quality on these is crap. Thin material, screen printed everything, not worth the money at all.
-
WOOHOO Joe Louis Arena West tonight, at least the crowd will be friendly. Go Wings!
-
Game on. Shoot the puck, please?
-
Hmmm... I'm smelling some #DanEllisProblems tonight.... LETS GO WINGS
-
He sure as hell wears one now! That's how it goes in the NHL, you wear the protective equipment AFTER you get injured.
-
Great, first time I saw that one! Miss the days of Stevie and Shanny... The Wings seem to always have a few pranksters on the team. Helm seems to have taken it upon himself to be the new class clown, and Dats always cracks me up during his interviews.
-
The way Quick is playing, I hope they don't pull him.
-
Way to get back in the game in a hurry boys, keep it up!
-
I'm nervous about this one, the Kings seem to have the Wing's number this season. We need a win here to get some momentum going for the road trip, and we're beyond due for giving the King's a proper beatdown. 4-3 Wings.
-
I think he meant that the look was "classic" with vintage style lettering, etc. I think the Flames' Heritage Classic jersey takes the cake for worst 3rd jersey of the season, but I don't know if it counts as a true 3rd.
-
And they usually look horrible... its just another way to sell more jerseys to fans.

There's really no such thing as a bad seat at the Joe. The Joe has a special charm to it, a grittiness that matches the surrounding city. Its not as horrible as some people make it out to be. They're even expanding the beer selection, which is a huge plus for us beer drinkers. I've been all the way up to the top of the 200 section, right up to glass, and pretty much everything in between. Each has its own plus's and minus's, and they're all great seats. When the Wings do get a new arena, its going to be nice, shiny, and generic, just like every other team's arena. Enjoy the Joe and all its old school charm while it lasts. Oh, and regarding the bathrooms at JLA, this is totally from a male perspective, but it only takes about 5 minutes to get in and out, and thats during the intermission. People get so over dramatic about the bathroom situation at the Joe...

This. Also, I posted this above, but if you think about it, there are a limited number of teams that are WC viable. The teams need to be located in cold weather climates, and have a large enough fanbase to justify the cost of running the WC. Obviously this is why the Pens were in it twice (other than the Crosby/Ovechkin over-promotion). It makes perfect economic sense to give the Red Wings another WC. Detroit has the climate for it, and the Red Wings Nation reaches not just coast to coast in the US, but worldwide.

Awesome video. I ran cross country for my high school in the late 90's, the shorts were just as short then too, some things never change!

The game has to be played in Detroit for a number of reasons. First and foremost, its the Detroit Red Wings, not the Ann Arbor Red Wings. Can you imagine the mocking if Detroit held a Winter Classic, and failed to have a suitable venue within city limits? Second, Comerica is in Foxtown. Illich owns Comerica and most of Foxtown. There is no way he'd not have it at Comerica Park, with all the business it would feed into his downtown district. He's got a lot of money invested in Detroit, he wouldn't have this game hosted anywhere else. Third, as mentioned above, the Winter Classic is as much about the location as it is about the teams playing. Why would the Red Wings organization miss an opportunity to showcase the city they play in by playing a nationally broadcasted game in Ann Arbor. It doesn't make any sense.
