Probably the best price you can get on the 'net: SportsK I think the problem with the jerseys at the Joe are that they use a smaller number kit to accommodate small jersey sizes. Instead of having two number kits for smaller and larger, they're probably saving money by just putting the smaller one on all jerseys. Pretty sad since they charge top dollar for them.

Yeah, a little before my time. I was born in '81. I started watching the Wings in the early 90's because the elder ones in my family schooled me on the whole "dead wings" thing and how the team was really improving.

If last season hadn't happened with all the injuries, I'd be like right now. But seeing how they rallied last year and got through all the injuries, I'm not worried at all right now. I think the young guys, and the veterans who haven't been playing the greatest hockey lately, will all get that motivation they need with this situation.

They might just be taking a precaution, keep him out for a period to check everything, make sure nothing is broken, etc. I wouldn't worry just yet. If he was out at all afterward I'd take that as a good sign.

Before they made the big announcemen,t I thought for sure the Rangers were going to be in the Winter Classic this year. I guess there's always next year... Pens vs Rangers!!!

I stand corrected, forgot about 2009 - yes I have a short memory sometimes I should have worded my post more carefully, as I was referring strictly to the Crosby/Ovechkin years. The playoff meetings in the 90's don't factor into the current Crosby/Ovechkin rivalry since they weren't playing then. The Wings rivals from the 90's are anything but right now.

Minnesota might see a general boost in viewership, ticket sales, etc, if it were showcased in the Winter Classic game. Just another perspective. The WC doesn't have to be a money grab, it can be used to showcase various teams in the NHL. Minnesota would be perfect for it, they have the right climate. They can use the Metrodome, its an outdoor stadium now Honestly, I don't think the WC game is, or ever will be, a national event. I guarantee 90% of the people watching any given WC to date are from the markets of the two teams playing. Which is fine by me, hockey is a relatively niche sport in the US, and the WC is a special niche game that I'd rather watch than a bunch of football. If the NHL can't get solid national exposure for the Stanley Cup finals, they sure as hell aren't going to for the WC. You've proven your own ignorance, and your Crosby/Malkin fanboyism. Montreal and NYR are huge hockey markets, with extremely loyal fanbases. I guarantee a Winter Classic with either of these teams would beat the pants off the ratings of this stupid Pens/Caps WC. This whole Crosby/Ovechkin non-rivalry is so stupid and contrived it makes me want to puke. How are they rivals except for having the same old pissing contest of who can score more goals in a season? They've never met in the playoffs, there's no "bad blood" between the Pens and Caps, its all a bunch of bulls***. The fact that they have this HBO series on the "rivalry" is just more proof that the NHL will do whatever it takes to make them the posterboys of hockey.

The Wings will come out fighting in the 1st period for this one. They want to win this for Ozzie, they all requested that Babcock play Ozzie at home so that he can get #400 at JLA. I just hope they don't over-extend themselves and poop out by the 3rd period. I think the motivation will be there to win this game. I hope Ozzie doesn't get nervous and make mistakes. I don't think he will, if anything Ozzie plays great under pressure.

The reason why the Red Wings have put a quality team on the ice for 20 straight seasons is because the team doesn't have a cheapskate penny-pinching owner who couldn't give a s*** about the team. The Iliches bought the Wings when they were the "Dead Wings," and turned it into a winning organization. Wirtz wouldn't even let you watch your team on TV. Honestly, I feel sorry for you and I'm not surprised a lot of fans stopped watching because of it. As for having a quality product on the ice now, that's debatable. You guys won a cup, that's great. Happy for you. You also didn't have to go through Detroit to get it. See you in the playoffs, if your team makes it there.

Lucky man, great picture The one time I saw the cup up close and personal was after a Tiger's game in 2008. Franzen and some of the boys were carrying it around Cheli's Chili.
