Agreed. Just watch the last 5 minutes, when everyone gets fouled, lots of free throws, yadda yadda.... They were talking about this issue a little bit on 97.1 this morning. They said the reason that the Pistons bump the Wings to FSD+ was because they were playing the Lakers, and people would watch regardless of how crappy the Pistons are because they want to see the Lakers. They also had some callers complaining that they never talk about the Wings. Their rebuttal was why talk about a team when they are doing well all the time. Yeah, like there's never anything to talk about with the Wings... cop out answer.

Just got back from the game. 3rd period was awesome. The Joe was pretty sleepy most of the game. That 3rd period really woke the place up, everyone was on their feet. Fun game to watch, even though I thought the Blues outplayed us the first two periods.

I think its the fact that the feed from Edmonton was in SD crap low quality, hence low quality on FSD+. The game should be in HD tonight, with the feed coming from the Joe, but I can't be 100% sure.

I was going to say, is that a picture of a 6-pack on his shorts? I'm ok with that :beerbuddy:

I'll be there, should be a good one. I haven't attended a loss at the Joe yet this year, here's to hoping the trend continues.

Amway. Really? Excuse me while I puke, and then I'll get 10 other people to puke, and then they'll...

I had the imnpression that the new law would have a similar loophole, where the commercial can be as loud as the loudest portion of the broadcast. I don't understand why the FCC just doesn't make a standard. All show will be broadcast at this volume, and leave it up to me to determine how loud I want it based off that. If these commercials keep getting louder, technology will prevail. Onkyo, Sony, Denan, etc will come out with receivers that regulate the broadcast volume, and they will make good money doing it.

Sam's ok by me. His advertising campaign, however, is annoying as hell. Every commercial break, a Sam Bernstein commercial that's at least at a 50% higher volume than the game (a lot of commercials on FSD are like that though). The "Call Sam Studios" is a stupid name. I hate excessive corporate sponsorship in general.

Straight ticket for me too, about the only time I vote red
-
Fleury's name is on the Stanley Cup, Howie's isn't. I'm not sure what the criteria are that the NHL uses to put the voting options together, but this probably factors in. As for the location, nothing conveys the true essence of hockey greatness like the city of Raleigh... yeah... Isn't it about time that Detroit got to host an all star game again?

Seeing as you don't need to get the lettering done, why don't you find a jersey place local to you to sew the patch on? The only reason you'd want to send that kick ass jersey across the country to Detroit is to get the lettering correct. Since that's already done, any sports shop that customizes jerseys should be able to sew the patch on for you. Just give them a reference photo so they know how to position it, etc. If you don't have the patch already, you can buy it from sportsk online or ebay. EPS is good too, but they can take a looong time. They customize a lot of jerseys and can get backlogged. http://exclusivepro.com/customjerseys.html

I like the CCM's better too. They snag less. The front and arm material of the Reebok's are kind of a joke.
-
They look totally fake. If you want, I'll dispose of them properly. I'll meet you in front of the Gordie Howe entrance

Good idea. Maybe we can get a wiki on the site for this? A pinned thread might get long and hard to read.

He had a good game, but why let him ride that wave? Hudler's been less than stellar all season, but he decides to show up for the 6-2 blowout of last place Edmonton? Big deal. Let him feel the heat, hopefully it will motivate him to work hard instead of becoming complacent.

The pizza at Hockeytown is alright, but yeah everything else there is meh. Which is a shame, if they gave it a little more thought and effort they could come up with some better, creative food selections. Same goes for Cheli's. Wish they were both more than your basic casual dining restaurant, with some Red Wings flair. Its a little bit away from downtown, but Slow's BBQ is delicious. They do have notoriously long wait times though (I'm talking 2 hours on a Thursday night). Nikki's pizza is one of the best in the city, and they're right in Greektown. They recently won some award from GQ.

What I don't understand about Reebok is how their marketing team thinks putting Crosby's face on everything in an area like Detroit is going to sell more gear. I was at target the other day, and they were selling Reebok skates with Cindy's mug on the box. Wouldn't they be better served putting Zetterberg on it for the Detroit market?
-
I think they have shuttles to regular season games too.

At 0:45, when the camera zooms closer to the net, the net moves before the puck makes contact. Not only is it fake, but its not even faked well. Reebok sucks, and Crosby is still a ******.

Unfortunately Hockeytown Cafe and Cheli's Chili are on the complete opposite side of town from the Joe. Fortunately you can park near Cheli's (its off of Woodward next to Comerica Park) and catch the people mover to the game. I always park at the lot at Lafayette and the I-75 service drive, near Greektown ($5 to park). From there, you can walk to the Old Shillelagh or Fishbones in Greektown, they both offer free shuttle buses to the Joe. Parking at the Joe is a pain in the ass, and pricey, so this is a pretty good way to go. After the game, if you want to go to Cheli's or Hockeytown, you can get on the people mover from the Joe, and take it over to the Grand Circus station, its just north of there. This is pretty much my personal plan of attack when I go to games, if you want specific directions, PM me. Hockeytown Authentics is in Troy, outside of the city in the 'burbs. Its about a 15-20 minute drive from downtown.

Mask? I thought Howard didn't need a mask? -
Behind the Scenes Look to Howard's New Mask Design

I think it would be cool to have the tachometer on one side, and the mustang on the other. Kind of a hybrid between the two masks. But I like asymmetric designs so I'm a little biased. -
Yeah, "Get Ready For This" and "Hey Hey Hockeytown" for the goal songs. Everything else can go away.

Um yeah, I guess the jesting part was lost when I responded to a post stating that the shaving of ladies armpits would be an agenda item under Shanahan's NHL

Oh, don't tease us. Shanny as commissioner would be kickass!
