Pens jersey is fugly. That overweight penguin is just wrong, and waaay too many stripes. Should have stuck to just one big blue stripe imho. The caps jersey is nice, kind of wish they went with the tie downs at the neck. It gives the jersey a "vintagy" look.

Sweet jersey! Where'd you get it? I've been looking for one, all the ones that come up on ebay are either authentics that are selling for $$$$, or fakes.

Oh boy, here we go... I smell another "real vs fake jersey" debate thread. Seriously, if you're patient good deals come up on this board in the trading post, ebay (watch for fakes), and craigslist (again, watch for fakes). I've seen the fake chinese jerseys, and I've seen people wearing them at the Joe. They stick out like a sore thumb, they're such bad quality.

Gotcha. Learn something new every day!

From the article: Sounds like sour graps because of Modano. Can someone tell her that her team's front office abandoned him? wait, what?
-
Perhaps they bought the rights back at a later date, since some of the posters here have said that the shoulder patch has the old logo on it. I got my info from http://www.nhluniforms.com/, if you click on the Ducks page, it states that the team lost rights to the name and logo when Disney sold the team which prompted the change.
-
I think the reason they can't use their original logo is because Disney owns it. When they sold the team, they kept the rights to the name and logo, hence why they're just the Ducks now. As for the new jersey, it looks like the Ducks' and Flyers' jerseys hooked up after a night of drinking, and this was the result...

Chicago Blackhawks are putting pizza ads on their practice jerseys. Seems like it will only go downhill from here, especially because of this comment: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Blackhawks-put-ads-on-practice-jerseys-game-gea?urn=nhl-274690&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Nice pic via Twitter: http://plixi.com/p/51156594 Kind of true, there were a lot of Wings jerseys in the crowd. Everyone in the desert got transplanted there, right??? I know I have a few fellow Detroiters that moved there for various reasons.

As said above, football is king right now. You aren't going to hear much hockey on 97.1 until after the Super Bowl pretty much. In the meantime, Drew and Mike get Mickey Redmond. I love it when they get him on. Not only is the analysis great, but he always has an awesome story or two.

Seriously, the Wings got it handed to them against St. Louis at the NHL Premier last year. Hell of a way to start a season. Howard was iffy until around December. Half the team was injured. We still got a post season spot. I'll take what we have going this season so far over last season's any day. I'm not worried
-
Nothing necessarily wrong with it, but the tweaks don't add anything to the logo. Its like it got tweaked just because it hasn't been messed with in a while. There's really no need to change at this point, IMHO.
-
I'm not worried. If there's one thing that's been consistent about the Wings over the years is that they have a tendency to be inconsistent. They have spectacular wins, and embarrassing loses like this game. At the end of the season, however, they're always in the playoffs. At that point, what happened in the regular season is pointless. I wouldn't worry about this team.
-
I hope not. That logo on the practice jersey is definitely different. I hope it stays on the practice jersey.
-
I would hope the reaction would be a warm welcome. Its not like Mike asked to leave, the organization kicked him out. I know there will probably be a few "Modano sucks" signs in the crowd held up by ignorant fans, but I hope the majority of the crowd gives him the respect he deserves. Wings: 3 Stars: 1 I predict Ozzy will have a solid night.

Wisniewski makes obscene gesture towards Avery
ACallToArms replied to 10 Minute Misconduct's topic in General
I'm assuming you're referring to my post. I didn't mean to start a political debate, and I don't think there is one. All I was trying to say is that I feel that, as a society, we've become so sensitive to things that might be deemed "offensive" that players are getting game suspensions for making stupid gestures. Give a 2 minute penalty, its unsportsmanlike conduct, and the threat of having your team be shorthanded because of your stupidity is more than enough to curb this kind of behavior. Hockey is a game where you're pounded the crap out of the other team, and they're doing the same to you. Emotions run high, adrenaline is pumping, sometimes it can all get the best of you. Datsyuk's getting scrappy, what if late in the season, with a playoff spot in the balance, he gets suspended because he swore at another player and it accidentally got picked up by a mic? That's note right. Maybe Wisniewski was trying to show Avery how to eat a popsicle? You gotta have context people (I kid, I kid...) -

[political rant] This is just sad, and is a perfect example of how far this country has succumbed to extreme right wing morality. A nip slip, and you get fined millions. A random mic accidentally pics up some off color remarks? More fines! Its not like they're really protecting the children, which is the argument used for this kind of censorship. I went through the public school system and saw worse gestures in 6th grade than what I've seen watching hockey. [/political rant] Some obscene gestures in hockey, a full contact sport that includes checking and fighting, results in game suspensions? I can understand a penalty, but suspensions? Gimme a break... -
For da benjamins Obviously some people bought them. Maybe superman was popular that year.

Abdelkader out, Bertuzzi questionable for tomorrow's opener

I'll complain about Filppula not shooting the damn puck -
Very very nice work, thanks!

We usually meet up at the Old Shillelagh to enjoy a few brews before a game. We take their bus to the Joe (best bus in town!), and then catch a bus back to Greektown. After the game, we'll usually go to Pegasus or Detroit Beer Company. Occasionally we'll change it up and head to Foxtown after the game to go to the Town Pump.

I don't really mind having brand names like Reebok, CCM, etc on the equipment they make, because its relavent to the equipment. At times, the brand name is incorporated into the design. It makes more sense to have a Reebok vector logo on a jersey as opposed to, say, Little Caesars. One is the maker of the jersey, the other has nothing to do with hockey. This is similar to the reason why I don't mind product placement advertising in movies and tv. There are brands in the real world, it makes the movie more realistic to have the same brands in it. However, that's assuming they don't go overboard with it (I'm looking at you Michael Bay!!!)
